Published 12/05/2018

Question:

Thanks so much to Jameson for his expert advise and recommendations. We put the three items on easily with your online video instructions. One thing we should have thought about is a lock so we dont lose our bike rack. These are the items weve purchased and installed : Qty Description Shipped Pending - - - 1 Draw-tite Class II Trailer Hitch - 1-1/4 1 0 1 Maxxtow 1-1/4 To 2 Hitch Adapter - 11 Long 1 0 1 Roadmaster Quiet Hitch-univ U-bolt Design-1-1/4 Hitches 1 0 Now would appreciate and value your opinion which of these youd recommend to lock our bike rack to the adaptor and hitch : 5200 1472DAT

Yes, you would want to use an anti-rattle for the 1-1/4 inch portion of the adapter. For that the Hitch part # C11257 would work well. It uses a U-bolt to hold the adapter tight to the hitch tube.

The Draw Tite hitch part # 36554 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2019 Buick Encore but there isn't a 2 inch hitch available for your vehicle as the 2 inch size is generally only seen on larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs. We have the Brophy hitch adapter part # HTAD that will convert your hitch to a 2 inch hitch but you should note that this adapter does cut the capacity of the Draw Tite hitch in half. So you'd have a 175 lb capacity instead.

Thanks for replying to my question below: I now have an additional question: Would I need to add a 1-1/4 inch anti-rattling devise for the MaxxTow hitch adapter part # MT70032 that will be placed on the Draw Tite hitch part # 36554 ?

Glad I could help! Both hitch locks you mentioned would work well for you, but I would recommend the Tow Ready part # TR63254 as it has a lock core that's easier to access and comes with a cover that allows the core to protected from elements when on the road.
