QH Dims

Nearly every hitch setup suffers from a bit of slip. This free play between your trailer hitch receiver and your hitch-mounted accessory is completely normal, but it's also completely preventable. By adding the Quiet Hitch to your setup, you can stabilize your hitch-mounted accessory as it sits in the receiver to eliminate rattle, sway, and all that extra play.

USE W ACCESSORIES - BAR ON TOP

Just slip the Quiet Hitch over your drawbar or other accessory. When you slide the accessory into the hitch receiver, position the U-bolt around the collar on the bottom of your hitch receiver. Then place the bar on top of the accessory shank and tighten the nuts onto the U-bolt. As you tighten the Quiet Hitch, the shank of your accessory will be pulled down towards the bottom of the receiver opening, thus securing it in place within the tube.

Video Transcript for Roadmaster Quiet Hitch Immobilizer Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch. This is a hitch immobilizer. It's been designed for use with 1-1/4" hitches. The part number on it is RM-061-125. One thing you're really going to notice about this immobilizer is its heavy-duty construction, fully coated to resist any kind of corrosion. Just take a look at that. The ball mount literally is not going to move with this in place.

Just as the name implies, this isn't called an anti-rattle device. This isn't simply just to prevent a little bit of noise back here. They call this an immobilizer and it does just that. It's simply going to immobilize our ball mount from making any kind of move. This can be used with a variety of accessories, whether it's a ball mount, a bike rack, even a tailgating table.

Anything we want to put in here and hold sturdy, like a cargo carrier, something like that, very easy and simple to do. Now that we've gone over the features of it, let's take a look at how to get this installed. The Quite Hitch is going to consist of just six easy to put together components. We're going to have our top block, our U bolt, two flange nuts which are going to be the first to make contact with our block, and then another nut that's going to be our jamb nut which will sit right on top of that. The first step is going to be to bring the U bolt portion around the underside of our hitch. It is important to note this is only going to work on an 1-1/4" hitch that has this collar around here. If it's one of the straight styles this is not going to work for it. We'll place that around the back side of that collar.

The top block goes down into place. Now let's take our two flange nuts, let's just thread those down so they make contact. I like to center that up on our hitch. Then we'll simply use a torque wrench. We're going to torque these nuts down to the appropriate specification.

Just refer to the instruction manual. It'll tell you exactly what that is. We'll, of course, do this evenly. We want to have pretty equal pressure going from side-to-side there. Last up, let's put our two jamb nuts down on there. Perfect. Again, set them to the appropriate specification that's in your instruction manual. Just like that we're ready to hook up to our trailer, load up our table with goodies, fill up our cargo carrier and head down the road, whatever the case may be. .

Had a lot of rattling and clunking from the hitch. Rattling with nothing in tow and clunking when towing( starting & stopping ). This item has made everything nice and tight.... as usual the service from ETRAILER was terrific. Easy to order and it arrived quickly. Don't know why anyone would go anywhere else for their trailer- ing needs. 346766

I have used this only once. I do which the U bolt and nuts where of a higher grade of steel. I will just have to see how it wears. But I would recommend this if you have a noisy little trailer like we have. 283210

This product is truly as easy to use as it claims to be. I put it on my hitch in minutes, with no fancy tools, and it totally works to get rid of the sway. I am using it with my 1.25 to 1.25 hitch riser (VH-HR2 from Discount Ramps) on my 2009 Toyota Sienna van. My bike rack is attached to the hitch riser and there is very little movement in the hitch/rack even at higher rates of speed. The shopping experience with etrailer.com was great and shipping was faster then expected. 279432

I use this Roadmaster Quiet Hitch U-collar to stabilize the 1.25"-2" hitch adapter which I plug into the 1.25" hitch on my car. The adapter allows me to attach my 2" Kuat bike rack to the car. The Quiet Hitch does a great job of reducing sway. The only thing I don't like about the Quiet Hitch is that you are supposed to use a torque wrench to tighten it, yet another tool to carry along and lose. Even when I snug up the Quiet Hitch flange and lock nuts well with a 1/2" socket, they do tend to loosen after a few miles. Assuming that my Quiet Hitch loosens because I don't use a torque wrench, it would be nice if the Quiet Hitch were made with an airplane-grade retention system that doesn't require torquing to a specific value. 412624

Had a hard time finding a hitch stabilizer that would work for my situation. In my case, I am not towing anything but, rather, mounting a bike rack. Also, complicating matters was a converter from 1-1/4" to 2". The rack mounted on the 2" receiver and comes with a screw down bolt to prevent play. Unfortunately, the converter had no such feature and had significant play when inserted into the 1-1/4" receiver of the two hitch. The Roadmaster product completely solved the issue. Very happy with the results. 194140

Great anti wobble device. I was about to jettison my bike rack until I spoke to an etrailer rep who recommended the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch. The suggestion was spot on as it has eliminated the wiggle and sway. I am gratified when something advocated works and the price is at a bargain. Thank you much for your expertise. 219680

This thing does a brilliant job of stabilizing the hitch inside the receiver to keep it from banging and rattling around. I have a Curt Euro-style integrated ball and mount so bolt-type stabilizer wouldn't work. The plating does a nice job of staving off rust and the flanged nuts help prevent the hardware from backing off. 469704

This item is sure the ticket for movement in your hitch. This stopped the rattling and also the shifting that occurred prior to installation. Although I've only used it a few times, specifically for a hitch cargo carrier, it works! 585147

I ordered this to limit twisting and bounce at the hitch rather than for noise reduction. My hitch is already quiet and pretty solid but would twist back and forth enough that I was always uncomfortable when I had two bikes mounted on the rack. This is an improvement over a similar unit that I had been using. It’s simple to install, tends to stay tight over long drives, and makes the dancing bikes much steadier. Overall it’s a small investment that brings a lot of peace of mind. 583050

It does help stop about 70% of the slack, but it does not eliminate all of the slack. Another thing to think about is that it also works as a lock for your hitch. It would be time consuming for a thief to undo the nuts and take your hitch. So it is a dual purpose product. 413616

This morning my TWO Roadmaster Quiet Hitched (2" and 1-1/4") arrived. I set about mounting my bicycle rack into my new etrailer.com 2" Draw-Tite hitch on my 2014 Subaru Outback. I mounted the Roadmaster Quiet Hitches and was very pleased the bike rack went from having over 5" of free-play at the rack head to less than 1/2" of free-play. I no longer need to have a strap from the rack head to the roof rack. I very good investment. (it is a long story why I have both 2" and 1-1/4" hitches) 365759

  • Anti-rattle Device for 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Recessed Inside of Bumper
  • You could use Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125 upside down but I don't think it is going to fit based on your pictures. What I recommend is the Gen-Y anti-rattle device # 325-GH-013. This device will actually stay on the accessory and is held there with 2 set screws. And an added benefit is that because it stays on the accessory shank the pin holes will line up every time you insert the accessory into the hitch!

An anti-rattle device, like # MT70258 for 2 inch hitches, can help by securing the cargo carrier's hitch shank to the hitch receiver. The bolts will push the shank up tight against the top...

  • Trailer Hitch Anti-Rattle Kit for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches Item # F-315 will stop the rattle of the ball mount as long as the ball mount has a hollow shank. Most 1-1/4 inch ball mounts are solid. If yours is solid you can instead use Boone anti-rattle device # 93347 or Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125. I have included links to videos on all of these anti-rattle devices for you.

  • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for a 1-1/4 inch Hitch
  • The # HE6033 is an anti-rattle device/locking hitch pin when used on a Bike Rack like part # HE2110. It can be used with a ball mount or other hitch accessory, but it won't function as an anti-rattle device as it would just slide through the ball mount. The accessory would have to be threaded and match the threads of the bolt for it to work as an anti-rattle device. You would need a product like the # RM-061-125 as well for an anti-rattle device if that is what you are looking for.

  • Is Draw-Tite Class III Hitch 75784 Compatible with J-Pin Locking Stabilizer 63201
  • Draw-Tite Hitch # 75784 is a confirmed fit on your 2017 Acura RDX and this hitch is indeed compatible with the J-pin locking stabilizer # 63201. This will work along with Reducer Sleeve # HT02 to allow your 1-1/4-inch bike rack to be installed in this 2-inch hitch. The J-pin will stabilize the reducer in the hitch tube but it will not do anything for the potential rattle of the bike rack's 1-1/4-inch shank in the reducer's opening. You may care to use a secondary anti-rattle device...

  • Reducing the Movement in Hitch Receiver when Using an Adapter with the Pro Series # 63120 Bike Rack
  • The Reese 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack w/ Frame Mount Cradles # 63120 does not have a 2 inch receiver option, but I do have a few things that you can use to reduce the amount of play you are seeing in your bike rack. The best solution is to use an anti-rattle device like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches # RM-061-125. This will help to put pressure on your adapter to decrease movement. You can then use a support strap, like part # 18050, to help keep your...

  • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for a 2 inch Hitch Towing Trailer
  • Actually the term flat towing refers to towing a vehicle behind another vehicle with 4 wheels on the ground. If you aren't familiar with flat towing I can easily see how you drew that conclusion. I attached a help article on flat towing for you to check out if you wanted to see what it's all about. So basically the # RM-061 and # RM-061-125 would only be for use on a tow bar when a vehicle is being flat towed. For an anti-rattle device that would work for standard towing applications...

  • Will An Additional Locking Hitch Pin be Needed When Using the Brophy # RH2-XL for T2 Classic
  • Even though the Thule T2 Classic # TH9045 comes with a threaded locking hitch pin you would need to use another locking hitch pin like part # RH2-XL to utilize the Hitch Extender # HES6. Please note that using this hitch extender will reduce the overall weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50% and will add some extra play to your bike rack. The T2 Classic weighs 50 lbs so as long as your bikes plus this 50 lbs doesn't exceed the tongue weight of your vehicle you can use it. I do...

  • Carrying Class III Bike Rack Using Class I Trailer Hitch Installed on 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550
  • There is not a 2 inch receiver available for your Mercedes, but you can still carry bikes if you install the Curt Class I hitch, part # C11828. You could use an adapter like part # HTAD, but doing so will have its downsides. Because the adapter moves the load of the rack and bikes further away from the hitch, the leverage applied to the hitch will increase significantly. Because of that fact, using an adapter will LOWER the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by half, from 200 lbs to...

  • Recommended Locking Pin and Anti-Rattle for Rola TX-103 Bike Carrier
  • The Rola TX-103 3-Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # 59403 has a threaded pin on the the 2 inch shank but not on the 1-1/4 inch shank. This will provide you with a connection to the hitch but will not give you the anti-rattle. I recommend using the hitch lock # RH2-XL and then using an anti-rattle device like the Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125.

  • Anti Rattle Device Recommendation for Rola Bike Rack # 59400
  • For the Rola TX-102 Bike Rack part # 59400 that you referenced the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch part # RM-061-125 would work well as it fits around the outside of a 1-1/4 hitch and keeps the rack tight to it. I attached a review video for more info as well.

  • Recommendation To Solve Movement Of Hitch Mounted Bike Rack With Threaded Pin
  • Some factory hitches have more of a tolerance that is accepted than aftermarket parts. You may have some additional sag due to this, but being able to lift the rack several inches seems excessive. The receiver should not be 1-1/2 inches, and the 1-1/4 inch shank should fit snug once you've tightened the threaded bolt. My recommendation is to use the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches # RM-061-125. This will immobilize your hitch and take that slack that could cause...

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock And Cable Lock For Rola Bike Rack
  • For a Rola bike rack, I recommend the Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - 2-5/8" Span # 63232 for a 2 inch receiver. This will allow your bike rack to use a threaded block and threaded hitch pin to hold your bike rack tight to one side of your receiver and gives you the security of locking that theaded hitch pin for a theft deterant. For the solid 1-1/4 inch receiver, I recommend the # RM-061-125 which is an external clamp to hold the bar in position....
