Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this locking hitch pin padlock combination. So what this is gonna do, is you're gonna take this, comes with two keys, you can put it in your receiver here to lock up whatever accessory you have in there. Once it's lined up, you just run the pin through, add the padlock, it's all locked up. That way nobody can mess with any accessories you leave in your hitch. Let's check it out.

The lock's great for protecting those accessories, they're a good theft deterrent. Nothing's perfect but this will make sure that somebody can't just walk off of this when you're not around. So whether it's a bike rack that doesn't have an anti-rattle bolt or a draw bar like we have in here, a cargo carrier, there's a lot of options you can use this for to just make sure those accessories stay put. Let's go over some measurements real quick. So from end to end, that's gonna be end of this pin, the end of this padlock, it's gonna be six and three quarter inches.

And then you're gonna have a half inch diameter of the pin itself. And then on the flat portion of the pin to that padlock, is gonna be three and one eighth of an inch. Now it comes with two keys you can use. You can keep one on your key ring, you can keep one in your car, whatever you wanna do with that. You got a chrome plated pin, is gonna be nice, it's gonna hold up to the weather so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion.

It's made to be on the back of your car long term. Overall, I think it's definitely a good addition to your drawbar or your accessory that it'll work with. It never hurts to keep it locked up when you're not around that way nobody messes with it. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out.

I hope this helped..

  • Trailer Hitch and Hitch Adapter Recommendation for 2019 Buick Encore Carrying Kuat NV
Yes, you would want to use an anti-rattle for the 1-1/4 inch portion of the adapter. For that the Hitch part # C11257 would work well. It uses a U-bolt to hold the adapter tight to the hitch tube.

  • How to Lock Bike Rack With No Hitch Pin Lock Available
The HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # HE6001 has a 5/8" pin diameter and is designed for certain SportRack bike racks so it will not work for you. Hitch pin locks are designed for specific bike racks so if that's what you need it for, let me know what rack you have I can see if there is a lock that will work for you. Otherwise, if you have a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin that likely means you have a 1-1/4 inch receiver and we do have hitch locks with 1/2 inch...

  • Troubleshooting Hitch Lock that Won't Turn All the Way to Release
I would recommend hitting the lock with some WD40 to try and get the lock core to release. Use the straw that comes with it to direct the lube into the core as much as possible. You may have to let it soak for a few minutes. Working the key in and out of the core several times can help it penetrate and free up the stuck portion of it.

  • Can Tow Ready Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock Be Keyed Alike
Hi Carl; the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 5201 does not have a keyed alike option so you won't be able to match the key on the # 5200 you got from us. The only option if you want to use both of these is to have two sets of keys for the locks. If you really want keyed alike locks you could always return the Tow Ready lock and get the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches # e98879 and etrailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches # e98881. • Compatible Trailer Hitch Lock for a Class I CURT Trailer Hitch and Surco Cargo Carrier
The CURT Trailer Hitch, # 11110, is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. It uses a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin hole. All of the locks you have mentioned # 2866DAT, and # 7682 will all fit it. They will also fit the Surcp Cargo Carrier that you referenced. Since the Surco is no longer available, you might consider the Reese Carrier # 63155. Out of the 3 locks, I would go with # 5200. These are among our best selling locks. For the trailer hitch, CURT requires the use of...

I have a solution, however the Master Lock Hitch Receiver and Coupler Latch Lock Set # 2848DAT does not offer a 1/4" only kit. What we do have is the Trailer hitch Receiver Lock # 5200 is a single lock that will fit 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" trailer hitches and has a similar lock style to # 2848DAT mentioned above.

  • Recommendation for Hitch Lock with 1/2 Inch Diameter and 2-5/8 Inch Span
We do have a large selection of hitch locks available for your trailer hitch receiver. The available hitch locks that can be keyed alike and have a usable span of at least 2-5/8 inches are going to also have a pin diameter of 5/8 inches, such as # e98880. We do have hitch locks with a 1/2 inch diameter, such as # e98879, however these will also have a smaller usable span, as they are typically intended for 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers. The usable span on this unit is 2-1/8 inches. Both...

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter - 1-1/4" (Class II) to 2" # C45785 does not come with a hitch pin. If you are in need of a hitch pin for the 1-1/4" end of the receiver, that is the # 5200. For the 2" receiver end, that is the # e98880. Both of these are locking pins in order to protect your adapter as well as your hitch-mounted accessories.

  • Recommendations on a Ball Mount and Lock to Fit a 2011 Honda Odyssey with a 12 inch Hitch Height.
You will need two measurements and a little math to determine the correct ball mount for Honda Odyssey. You will need to measure, on level ground, your Honda's hitch height from the top of the receiver hitch opening to the ground. Next, measure from the bottom of your trailer's coupler to the level ground. The difference between these two numbers will determine the rise or drop you will need in your ball mount. I have attached a link that will show in more detail how to choose a correct...

  • Lock For Curt QuickPin No-Latch Trailer Coupler for 2 Inch Ball
There are a couple of different ways you can lock the Curt QuickPin No-Latch Trailer Coupler for 2" Ball, either with a standard coupler lock, or you can use a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin lock, since that is the same size as the pin and clip (though you should always use the pin and clip that come with the coupler when towing and not a lock). So to lock it you can use any of the following options, depending on what you prefer: - etrailer Trailer Coupler Lock for Flat Lip 1-7/8" and 2"...

I do have an option for you for extra storage but the owners manual on your 2010 Hyundai Elantra does not recommend using that vehicle for trailer towing. I assume you are referring the Curt Spare Tire Carrier, part # C31006 and one of the Class I hitches you purchased from us. Both of those hitches have a 200 pound tongue weight capacity. However, if you are using the HTAD adapter, the tongue weight capacity is reduced by 50 percent to 100 pounds. Now, the carrier weighs 16 pounds and you said your tire and rim weigh a combined 71 pounds. That gives you a total tongue weight load of 87 pounds, still under your 100 pound limit. What you...
