TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

I have used Forklift tie downs for my camper for years and really like the products. Recently I have the need to tow a trailer with my truck camper on so I bought your Superhitch Original Class V Hitch, 28" Supertruss Receiver Extension For Superhitch, Custom Frame-mounted Camper Tie-downs - Rear and 7-way Extension For 28 Supertruss Order #107727079. I ordered from Etrailer since they don't sell direct. When the the supper hitch arrived the box was all torn up and because Torklift chose to leave the 6- 2x2 plate washers loose in the box 2 where missing. I assumed they fell out the hole in the box during shipping. I then had to wait 3 weeks for them to ship me to new plate washers. I got the hitch installed and tonight went to install the Supertruss Receiver Extension and when I carefully opened the zip lock bag it was missing all 4 of the 1/2 nuts. The missing plate washers already delayed my trip and now I am delayed once again until I get go to the store and buy the nuts. Like I said I think they make well built stuff, but their QA with packing and shipping sucks. 644540

Sturdy, well made product. I did not realize it came in pieces, so be prepared to do some assembly work. I had all the required tools, but not everyone may own a torque wrench. Once assembled, it looks great. 448255

  • The hitch opening location for the Torklift Hitch part # TLF1002-30 that you referenced will be very close to where you current hitch opening is. If the 28 extension part # TLE1528 would work well based on your current measurements it would be a great choice with the Torklift hitch. Or if you need the 32 inch you would want the part # TLE1532.

  • Recommended Dual Receiver Trailer Hitch for Extension and Weight Distribution Due to Truck Camper
  • It sounds like you have a trailer hitch receiver already installed and need to add a second trailer hitch receiver for a double receiver to allow for the extension and tongue weight of your horse trailer. Because you don't have the factory hitch welded to your frame as you mentioned the steel pipe being bolted under your truck, you will need to remove the current hitch and replace it with the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - Dual 2" Receivers...

  • Recommended TorkLift SuperHitch for a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500
  • I do have an option for you but the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLD1100 will not fit your 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. This hitch is only designed to fit a Dodge Ram 3500 from 1994-2002. Instead, I recommend using the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLD1101 if you do not have a factory hitch or part # TLD1102 if you do have a factory hitch. If you also need the TorkLift SuperTruss and then you can use one of the following depending on...

  • For starters, the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension will only work if you have a SuperHitch Original, Magnum, or Hero already installed on your tow vehicle. In order to determine if the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension part # TLE1524 will work for you, you will want to measure from the center...

  • Recommended SuperTruss And TorkLift SuperHitch on 2016 Chevy 2500
  • There is really only one solution I recommend that will work for your desire to pull a trailer with the tailgate down. This would need to be used with a factory hitch and the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 36" Long # TLE1536 to clear your tailgate. • Recommended Trailer Hitch Extension for 2004 Ford F-350 with Truck Bed Camper Towing a Trailer
  • Hitch extensions over 18 inches aren't very common because of the stress and torque they put on the trailer hitch and vehicle frame. For a 30 inch extension, the first place we will want to start is with your truck's trailer hitch. In order to find an extension this long, you must have a Class V trailer hitch with a 2-1/2 inch hitch opening. If you don't already have a Class V hitch, then I recommend the Curt Class V Trailer Hitch, # C15810, because with this hitch you can use the Curt...
