  If you grab light # ILL70CBSBAWN and hold the base with one hand you can pivot the light part up, almost like it is hinged. The gasket has an adhesive on it that makes it seem like the 2 parts are all one piece but they aren't. I tested this out myself and it worked beautifully.

  The first thing to check on the Opti-Brite RV Interior Strip Light w/ Switch - Awning Mount - White LEDs - Black Housing Item # ILL70CBSBAWN is the ground wire. Make sure it is grounded to a clean bare metal surface. A weak ground could cause the light to not light up all the way. An easy test would be to connect the light wires to a 12 volt battery. If it still does the same thing then there is a problem inside the lights and they will need to be replaced.

• Is the Opti-Brite LED Strip Light Offered in Amber
  It sounds like you're wanting to use the Opti-Brite LED Strip Light part # ILL70CBSBAWN as a clearance or side marker light but this is unfortunately not possible due to both the downward projection of the lens and the on/off switch. It's also not offered in amber. I'm not sure we have a light like this with amber lens, the Miro-Flex LED Clearance or Side Marker Light part # MCL19AB is probably our most similar replacement.
