The automotive-grade pads on these brakes offer lasting effectivenes. 12" x 2" Assemblies have rust-resistant, e-coated backing plates. Fits 14-1/2" to 16-1/2" wheels.

Specs:
Quick Tip: There's really not a whole lot to getting new drum brakes. If you've confirmed that all of the specs listed above line up with what you need for your trailer, you can be pretty sure these will work for you.
The pads on these trailer brakes are made of the same friction material that you might find on a car's drum brakes. In fact, the material is SAE-N certified. So, not only does it provide high-performance braking, but it's environmentally friendly, too! With these brakes, your trailer will be good to go on any road throughout the United States and Canada.
The superior quality of these pads is also due to the fact that they're bonded to the shoes, not just nailed down. Riveted brake pads will always give you a screeching reminder to replace your brake shoes. That's because the rivets will scrape against your drum as the friction material wears down. You won't have that noisy problem with bonded brake pads. You'll also get a little more friction pad contact because there aren't any cutouts for rivets. And more friction means more stopping power.
These pads are also tapered, which should help to prevent any broken, crumbly bits of material from rotating inside the drum as the pads wear over time. Brakes without these tapers are more likely to create a jarring braking experience that could cause the brakes to stutter and lock up.
The more miles you put on your trailer, the more your brake pads will wear down. As they lose contact with the drum, stopping distances get longer and longer. To keep your brakes working great, it's important to adjust them pretty routinely. For this job, grab a floor jack and either a brake adjustment tool (sold separately) or just a standard flathead screwdriver.
Jack up your trailer enough to get the wheel(s) off the ground. Remove the adjuster plugs from the backing plate on the brake, and insert the flat end of the tool through the back of the assembly.
Push in on the star gear and lift it up. Keep doing this until the brake pads catch on your drum. When you can't spin your wheel by hand anymore, back the gear off by about 10 clicks by pushing down on the star gear. Does the wheel now spin freely (even if it sounds like the brake pads drag slightly on the drum)? Great! Then you're all done with that one and ready to adjust the rest.
These brake assemblies meet the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. These brake assemblies underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. These brakes have also been tested by QAI for braking performance under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday tower.
After you get these brakes installed and adjusted, you'll need to break them in. First, find a long stretch of road or a big, empty parking lot. Once you're there, set your brake controller to its maximum setting and get moving. Speed up to about 40 mph and brake to slow to about 20 mph. Repeat this 15-30 times. The goal is to get the brake shoes and magnet properly seated into your drum. You'll know you've done that when it feels less jerky (and more consistent) each time you apply the brakes.
Note: The brakes will be very hot after doing this, so after every 10 stops you'll want to wait about 10 minutes to let the brakes cool off before continuing. If you don't, you might cook and crack the pad material.
Excellent quality and value! This is the ONLY way to replace worn out 19-year old brakes on our 40' 3-axle 5th wheel toyhauler. Everything new including drums, bearings, seals, etc.
etrailer.com shipping was free and fast. These are heavy components, but packaging was great and everything arrived undamaged. Follow up customer service is always great at etrailer as well.
Very pleased!
Will was the best helped me identify the best parts to convert an old 1970 axles to modern hubs and electric brake assembly’s new 6 lug wheels and tires fit perfect all bearings and parts were perfect. These folks are best ever to deal with or learn from.I was slow with this review because I was slow getting all this done It was well worth all the money and time though.
Excellent fit at installation with same performance and support afterwards...am rating this company and their products 6 Stars out of 5.
I received the product as ordered. The two day free shipping was much appreciated!!
The only complaint I have is the packaging of such heavy parts. My order included heavy brake drums and the boxes they were packed in were not quite strong enough. My suggestion is to place an additional thick piece of cardboard to the top and bottom of the box. Two of the four boxes of brake drums were worn completely through, exposing the product. Fortunately there was no damage to the drums but as bad as the boxes were damaged it could have been bad news.
Simple fix to avoid problems for the customer.
Thank you!!

Thanks for the feedback Ralph! Glad to hear the shipping was quick and everything arrived safely even though the packaging didn't really withstand the trip. We appreciate you taking the time to give us a heads-up about the packaging.
I installed these brakes and new hubs on my 5th wheel last year and have now put about 8000 miles on them. I've done minor brake shoe adjustments twice.
I'm impressed with the brakes! These brakes work better than my original Dexter brakes. Smooth and quiet braking and I'm able to set my brake controller to lower setting than I did in the past. And they seem to be wearing slower than my previous brakes. I highly recommend the etailer brand brakes!
Easy direct replacement on my Voltage 3005. Great price, changed out all four brake assemblies in my yard on a Saturday and will definitely order parts from etrailer in the future because of the ease of ordering and the quick free delivery that I received,
I've had both the self adjust and manual adjust. I like these because I have complete control over brake adjustment. With self adjusting I was dependent on the self adjusting components working correctly so I always had this concern about proper adjustment. Now I'm in complete control.
Good customer service, on time delivery, packaged arrived as ordered. And bonus they followed up with personal email for questions

A year later product still working as intended. I would purchase again
These assemblies made rebuilding my trailer brakes so much easier. The installations are complete and they work very well
Changed out all four brakes on my FW. E Trailer brand brake kit is well made and just as good as the costly name brand. After a year and about 6k miles brakes are fine no problems at all.

I sold my FW about a year after install. 5k miles and no problems. Do not waste money on more expensive brakes. These are well made and worked flawlessly.
Seem like quality parts but I haven't installed yet. One arrived with a missing piece but Amy was quick to get the replacement on its way. Great customer service and good pricing!

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to make this right for you Josh! I'll let Amy know you gave her a shout out!
These were exact fit, easy to replace and would definitely recommend. Definitely invest in the brake spoon tool ( bought one with my order) for adjusting these after the wheel is back on. Definitely worth it and etrailer nailed it again. In the photo, the axle on the right is the new brake assembly and the one on the left..... well that is the reason I bought four new brake assemblies!!!!! Thanks.

these brakes were perfect for my 14k - 8 lug, double axle trailer. As always, etrailer did a great job getting them to me.

Thanks, Thomas, its good to hear that. Happy towing!
The grease sales were perfect. Everything came together just fine as always E-trailer the company to go to.
2 of the 4 came partially disassembled.1 the adjuster wasn't even on.the other, one side of the shoe wasn't on all the way.
One year later—perfection! Thought my 2007 trailer was tired and old. With new hibs and brakes—works better than new. Stable and no squaek from trailer brakes.

Man, love that! Its so nice when a good product does its job well! Hope you had a great trailering season!
The brake assemblies were a perfect match to my old ones that were 25 years old
Ordered complete brakes and bearings for 8 wheel 16 ton trailer. All mounted up very nicely and I am very pleased with the result. In addition to bearings and brakes I also replaced the lights and added a new 7 pin plug incl a new battery and emergency trailer brake and wirebox. I had never done any of these repairs before, but followed the tutorial videos on e-trailers site. Very happy with result and will recommend e-trailers to anyone that need trailer stuff. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
I ordered these to replace the original brakes on my trailer after I started having problems with mine (see details below if interested). They are good quality and were easy to mount and assemble. They definitely made a difference in how well my trailer is braking. I definitely recommend these if they are what you need.
However, I will say that the shipping was delayed by about 4 days. This may not be etrailer's fault, but they use UPS and I've been having horrible luck with UPS's shipping service lately. Everything has been delayed. So just be aware that if you order with the standard ground with UPS these will most likely not arrive on time.
The second problem that I had was that I ordered a set of drum/hub combos to go with these on a separate order. After 2 days of seeing no progress on my order I had to email and call to find out that the order was delayed. There was no update from etrailer without me asking. I ended up having to cancel that order and purchase through a local supplier whom I will likely start using from now on.
To detail the braking problems, I purchased my 2008 Toy Hauler about two months ago. We've towed about 1,200 miles with it so far and I noticed from day one that the brakes weren't as responsive as they should be. As we were entering our neighborhood from our last trip my Tekonsha Prodigy 3 started flashing red and reading that there was a shortage and that I had a brake overload and that there were no brakes. This was fairly spiritic but eventually became constant. Based off of information I found from posts on this site, it seemed like it might be one of the magnets not making sufficient contact with the drum. It seems like this was the case. During my repair, I found that one of my grease seals had blown and grease had gotten into one of the brake assemblies and it looked like that entire hub/assembly/etc. had stopped working properly. After replacing the entire brake assembly, drum/hub, bearings and seals on all four wheels everything is working great! I probably only needed to replace the brake assemblies, but decided that for another $350 I would have peace of mind knowing that everything is at it's best!
Thanks etrailer for the helpful information and quality parts!
Great affordable brakes. Adjusted them and tested them out and they work great. Using a trailer brake controller in the truck as well and have no complaints yet. Towed about 5k miles on this system so far. I saw a ton of those advertisements for wires that have heat shrink and are waterproof and you don't need to solder. Saying when you apply heat to them, it melts the solder. Tested them out and they actually work great and are waterproof.
Brake assemblies arrived in two days well packed and perfect fit.
Great product with fast shipping, price was very competitive, would buy again.
The box was busted, had a hole in it, one adjuster was loose. The envelope with the mounting hardware was torn open and was missing 2 bolts 3 nuts and 4 lock washers.
