Features to know about

Simple Storage, Big Capability: 35 lb Capacity per Bike

The Swagman XC2 keeps things light and easy. Each bike tray supports up to 35 lbs, with room for 2 bikes total, so it’s a solid fit for everyday rides without adding bulk. At 25 lbs overall, it’s light enough to move and store solo. When space is tight, fold the wheel trays up and tuck the rack into a garage corner or closet—no disassembly needed.

Secure Frame Hold: Padded Ratcheting Hooks

Your bike stays steady with padded ratcheting hooks that clamp directly to the frame. The hooks move independently, so bikes of different sizes sit comfortably side by side without wobble or scratches. Quick adjustments make loading and unloading simple, even if the two bikes aren’t the same style.

Adapts to Different Wheelbases: Sliding Wheel Hoops up to 52"

If your bikes don’t match in length, the XC2’s sliding wheel hoops make it easy. Each hoop adjusts along the tray to handle wheelbases up to 52 inches. Just twist the hand knobs to set them where you need, and the bikes ride balanced and secure the whole trip.

Quiet on the Road: Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and 3" Shank Rise

Nobody likes a noisy rack. The threaded hitch pin and built-in anti-wobble device pull the shank tight to the hitch to cut out rattle during transport. The 3-inch shank rise helps with ground clearance, while the removable adapter sleeve means you can switch between 1-1/4" and 2" hitches without tools.

Quick Access When You Need It: Folding Mast Design

When it’s time to grab gear from the back, pull the pin and fold the upright mast down. The design keeps the rack out of the way for easy rear access. After the ride, fold the trays up and walk it into storage—simple, compact, and ready for the next trip.

Nice rack! Sturdy, can hold two large full suspension 29ers easily, although you might have to lower the seats as they hit handlebars if other bike. I also really like the locking pin (threaded pin locks rack securely to car hitch). Also a plus is the adapter plates for switching between 1-1/4” and 2” hitch. Only downside I can mention is that everything has a little surface rust after only one year. There was one trip in icy, rainy weather...

For the price I paid, I’m happy. And etrailer service is great.

Best Bike Rack Hitch Carrier for less than $150.00....EVER!

Unfortunately, our area was flooded by Hurricane Harvey not long after I ordered this bike carrier. So it sat in storage until 2 weeks ago. I was finally able to put it together and use it immediately. Simple to put together and even simpler to load bikes on to. took me 15 minutes to put together. Can load 2 bikes onto the rack in less than 30 seconds. That is NOT an exaggeration either. I was worried that once I got the bikes loaded that they'd rock and shake during travel but that was not the case. Loaded 2 bikes onboard and they stayed secure during the whole trip to our start point. Again, the carrier was quiet as a church mouse. No rattling what so ever! No noise at all!! And the cushions on the clamps that hold the bike in place are gentle enough not to put any marks or scratches on my bike frame, which was definitely another concern! All in all, this was one of the best purchases I've made in the last 18 months. If you're considering this carrier and still not sure, take my word and this review, 'Buy it. You will NOT be sorry!'

Order this bike rack for use on a 2014 Subaru Forester with a factory 1 1/4" trailer hitch. The rack appears to be solid and capable of holding two front suspension mountain bikes. One bike is a 15" men's bike and the other is a 19" men's bike. The rack went together easily and fit into the hitch with no problems. We ordered an anti-rattle locking hitch pin with a cable to lock the bikes and the rack to the car, but the locking hitch pin was too big to thread through the rack. etrailer sent another locking hitch pin in a very easy return process. The new one worked perfectly. We did find that when putting the bikes on the rack, we had to take off the ratchet arms and then slide them back down the center post. We used old socks on the pedals of the bikes to avoid any damage to the car or bikes, and old washcloths between the ratchet arms and the bikes as well since other people reported damage to their bikes' finishes. We also used velcro straps to secure the wheels to the wheel hoops for extra security. All in all the rack seems to be a great product.

We have sent an email to AV about your first question. We can answer the latter, and yes, the center upright mast can fold down flat on top of the tray arms. The tray arms can also fold up. You can see an illustration of this in the instructions we have linked on the page.

Great bike rack that works well on my 2016 Prius. Easy to use and I can still open the rear door on the Prius with the bike on the rack. I regularly take my bike when I go hiking in the Smokies to ride between trailheads. Quality product at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this product.

Ive used the bike rack more than a dozen times and it still works great. The only issue I had was while driving on a dirt road I hit a large bump in the road and the bike bounced off the back of the car. Fortunately I was driving slow and there wasnt any damage to the bike or rack. After that incident I started using a short bungee cord around each wheel to secure them to the rack and keep the bike from bouncing if I hit a bump.

Thank you for your review. That sounds pretty dangerous. I would just like to make sure that you installed the bikes on correctly. Each wheel rested in the wheel cradle then the cradles were tightened. The hook came down onto your bike or onto an adapter (for step through bikes) and it was pushed down into place for a tight fit. The bikes should not be bouncing off the rack if everything is tightened down.

Our XC2 works great. I installed it on the back of our Transit van and have traveled about 1500 miles so far with 2 Trek bikes on it. It’s solid and easy to load. The 2 lock down arms are a bit tricky at first but work just fine once you get the hang of them. Would recommend.

The bike rack, Bike Carrier-2 Bike Wheel Mount 1-1/4 & 2, it is also satisfactory for the price. I have use it with one mountain bike only with no problem so far.

This rack was grandma-easy to assemble and install. Bikes are so easy to load & unload, and there is plenty of clearance from both the ground and from the car to the nearest bike. The bikes are very secure, this is the first rack I've owned or used that I have real confidence in. Customer service was great and delivery was really quite fast. Perfect for my 2009 Nissan Sentra.

GREAT, strong, silent and easy to use. I couldnt have chosen a better product

by:

As usual, I ordered this late one night and it arrived from etrailer within less than a day of shipping. I purchased after reviewing photos and videos of the rack on the website. It's a good, solid bike rack. The bike rack is easy to assemble and attach to the car. Adjustments for bikes is easy and the rack seems stable. Probably about 1/2 inch of sway to the left and right and the same fore and aft during transport. It does seem to fit closely to the car, but pedals clear the bumper and have enough room to move without hitting the car. I would turn the bikes so that the derailleurs are outboard, but I wanted to show how much clearance the bikes have from the bumper, turning them out would give more room than shown.

It would be best to switch those bikes. You always want to keep the heaviest bike closest to the vehicle.

by:

Well constructed carrier, easy to use, and hitch tube has rise to avoid bottoming. Only problem is the rack is too close to the car for some bikes, you must have the crank closest to the car up to avoid hitting the bumper and also the trunk can hit wider handlebars when opening and closing.

A year in and Swagman bike working flawlessly, no complaints

by:

Poor instructions lead to confusing installation process. Build quality is average, however the design is good and carries two bikes securely.

by:

I had ordered a Swagman bike rack from etrailer and they let me know it would take over a month to get it since the manufacturer was trying to catch up. They recommended another model by Swagman that they had in stock and it was less expensive. I got it promptly and the suggested product will work fine for us. The best thing about ordering from etrailer is that you can get video demonstrations of the product before buying, they show you add ons you might want but don't have to buy-and they have them. They will talk to you about the product and their shipping (at least right now) is free. With the products they sell, their customer service really tops Another online retailer and other retailers in my opinion. Great people to do business with.

I got this rack to haul my road bike and mountain bike. The directions were clear and assembly was easy. Adjusting everything to fit my bikes was a breeze. I haven't driven with it loaded yet, but everything seems secure.

by:

After setting up my new bike rack, I found that the "universal tow hitch adapter" that's used for bigger tow hitches such as my Toyota Tacoma didn't seem to compliment entirely.

Attached pictures, you will see that the locking bolt and along with the cotter pin to secure the locking bolt onto the tow hitch doesn't quite reach through all the way across. Therefore, I wasn't able to insert the cotter pin through the locking bolt and couldn't safely secure my bike rack to the tow hitch of my Tacoma.

I know the Toyota Tacoma is a very popular vehicle and I recommend all future orders be replaced with a much longer locking bolt (at least 1/2 inch longer) to accommodate truck owners like me.

On the contrary, the bike rack does manage to fit onto my Mazda5 Minivan when utilizing the smaller tow hitch (without the universal tow hitch adapter for Class 3 Receiver). The bike rack is very versatile when loading bikes of various sizes and folds up to stow away very conveniently. Overall, great product!!

5/30/2018

The problem youre experiencing is occurring because the factory hitch on the Tacoma has an extra piece of reinforcement wrapped around the mouth of the receiver tube. This extra piece of metal adds about a 1/4 inch of width to the receiver, which is why the pin wont go in far enough for the retaining clip to fasten. Swagman doesnt offer a longer standard hitch pin, but they do offer a locking model that would be long enough, part # S64029 which has a 4-3/8 inch span. Ill link you to this part below. Swagman has assured me that this part will work for you.

AFFORDABLE, TOUGH, EASY, LIGHT.

Low
profile as well.

I drive a 2016 Fiesta ST and mountain bike a fair amount. I love this thing. Only hard part is getting the tow hitch you need in addition to this rack to fit my car properly.

Luckily this site has a great video of install.

Two person job...and you'll need a modified exhaust hanger(s) to have the stock muffler clear the hitch. Otherwise it will rattle ya silly.

Michael

11/26/2018

It’s still kicking. I leave It on all the time and my Fiesta ST has a VERY stiff suspension so for all is well after another year! I should Probably spray some sort of protectant on the unit but all is still functioning just fine: Thanks again!

by:

I really like this bike rack. Easy to assemble. East to mount on my 2004 Chevy Tracker. I also found it easy to mount my two bikes. I was concerned about clearance from the spare tire, but as you can see there is plenty of clearance. In fact the bikes don't touch anything else. I also purchased the velcro straps to secure the bike wheels to the wheel mount.

The Swagman XC2 is a terrific hitch rack for 1 or 2 bikes: stable, easy to load/unload, and affordable. In my first month of ownership I have traveled 400 miles with the rack loaded and it has been rock solid. Adjustments are easy for bikes with different wheelbases and the rack folds into a very compact package when not in use - it does not significantly impair rear vision. Trunk access can be limited when the bikes are on the rack and there's no built-in locking mechanism to secure the bikes to the rack, but overall this rack is a great value.

I own a 2005 Jeep Wrangler X with 31x10.5x15 oversized tires and
wheels. I installed B6196001 HighRock 4x4 Oversize Tire Carrier
by Bestop to carry larger spare tire.

I needed a bike carrier that would carry our two crusier bikes and
clear my spare tire. After measuring, I ordered:

-> S64650 - Swagman 2-bike carrier
-> 80300 - 7" Hitch Adapter 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver
-> RM-061 - Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches

Our order arrived very quickly, etrailer.com upgraded the shipping.

All these products arrived well packaged and without damage.
In 15 minutes I had every thing assembled, installed on my Jeep
and bikes loaded.

The bike carrier is very well constructed, finish is excellent and
easy to adjust.

When adjusting wheel loops and loading bikes, make sure you
pay attention to bike pedal position.

I chose this extension because I did not want to use the adapter
that comes with the bike carrier, I wanted as few parts as possible
to keep rattles to a minimum and gives me more options for towing.

The anti-rattle bolt/pin firmly secures the bike carrier to the
extension and the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch keeps the extension
adapter from rattling in the receiver.

Road tested approximately 25 miles over rough city roads
( including railroad tracks ), county roads and highway.
Bikes traveled very well without any rattles.

I can remove my complete setup quickly, fold and put in rear of
Jeep if desired.

I am very well pleased with my purchase.

Note to etrailer: Please consider offering Roadmaster Quiet Hitch
in black to match receiver and accessories.

The Swagman XC2 is a great bike rack for our 2 bikes. Very easy to load/unload, and affordable. Now we can take our bikes with us on our road trips. See you on the road!

by:

Fast shipping. The product was easy to assemble (about 30 minutes), and great instructions. The rack is well designed and sturdy. The only issue with the design is the tube hook was too long for a woman's bike (top tube on the bike is very low). It hit the front sprocket before enough downward pressure could be applied. I cut off about 1 1/2 inches and the problem was solved. No problems at all for my bike. I recommend this product and, as always, etrailer is awesome!

by:

I can't fit two bikes on the two bike rack. The rack is too close to the bumper so I can put one bike on the outside but if I want to put a second bike on the rack, I will need to take of the pedal on one side so it doesn't rub against the bumper. This is for the Swagman two bike rack on a 2008 Volvo S-40. This review was originally attached to the hitch. The hitch is fine, the bike rack, is solid, but see above. On The Volvo, there is this issue

by:

I was in a hurry and had a bike shop put it together, but I could have done it myself, it was so easy. Bike shop even said lightweight for a bike rack and easy for me to put on and take off. Holds the bike very sturdy as I barrel down the road. Very happy with this purchase.

The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style part # S64650 will fit the 2015 Honda CR-V as long as you have a hitch on your vehicle. However, the Swagman XC 2-Bike rack is not a tilt-away rack so you need to remove the bikes from the rack to get into the rear cargo aera of the CR-V. Instead, I recommend Swagman XTC-2 TILT 2-Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches part # S64671 for the 2015 Honda CR-V because it tilts away with or without the bikes loaded for rear cargo access in the Honda....

I went out to our warehouse and took some measurements for you. The # P313 Replacement Receiver Insert measures 1.31 in x 0.87 in while # P333 measures a bit smaller at 1.30 in x 0.75 in. See the attached images. # P313 is designed to replace the original insert in these Swagman hitch mounted bike racks: Swagman XC # S64650 Swagman G10 # S64682 (discontinued) Swagman Trailhead # S63360 # P333 is designed to replace the original insert in these Swagman hitch mounted bike racks: Swagman...

  • Will the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style Part # S64650 Fit a 2005 GMC Envoy
As you can see in the attached review video, the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style part # S64650 will fit perfectly into the trailer hitch receiver on your 2005 GMC Envoy. There will be no clearance issues with the rear bumper and the hatch will be able to be opened when the bikes are off and the upright is folded down. The only thing you need to do to fold the upright bar down is pull a pin which you can also see in the attached review video. This process will not require any tools.

  • Best Bike Rack that Allows For Easy Loading Of the Bikes and Into The Hitch
It sounds like you may have an electric Sun bike Jo. If you have an electric bike I recommend to use the Thule EasyFold XT 2 E-Bike Platform Rack part # TH903202 because of the included ramp and easy folding feature. The rack does weigh 45 lbs but it can be folded in half and is designed with a handle so you can easily carry it to the vehicle. Once you have the bike rack in the hitch you can simply walk the bike up the included ramp onto the rack instead of lifting the bike. The Thule...

  • Correct Trailer Hitch for 2016 Ford Focus ST
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11431 is designed for and confirmed to fit the Hatchback ST. There will be drilling required for installation, exhaust must be temporarily lowered for installation and access holes may need to be enlarged by drilling, filing, or rotary tool. All non-trailer loads, bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth should be supported with stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. The Curt Trailer Hitch Support...

  • Will The Swagman XC2 Fit With The Spare Tire On A 2017 Jeep Wrangler?
The measurement from the center of the hitch pin to the closest hoop is 10 inches. Measure from the center of your hitch pin to the end of the spare tire. If that measurement is less than 10 inches then you will be fine. If not you want to get an extender like # C45795. If I owned a Wrangler, I would get a swing away system like the Kuat Pivot # PVP20B. This will allow you to have FULL access to the back of your jeep!

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and 2-Bike Rack for a 2010 Ford Mustang
For your 2010 Ford Mustang, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11048 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. As long as you do not have the GT/CS, California Special, Shelby GT, or GT500 edition then this hitch will work well for you. It is currently the only option we have for this vehicle. In order to maintain the lifetime warranty, you will need to use part # 18050 for all non-towing applications like a bike rack. Then for a bike rack, I...

  • Swagman Anti-rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Compatibility With Swagman Bike Rack Shank
For your Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76177 and Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks w/ 2" Shanks # S64030 is not a fit. You will instead want the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks w/ 1-1/4" & Combo Shanks # S64031 which is a confirmed fit. If you have the similar Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches or RV Bumpers # S64663 then the 2 inch shank of the bike rack is compatible with...

  • Compatibility of the Swagman Bike Rack 64663 with 2016 Subaru Crosstrek
The Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches or RV Bumpers # S64663 will work with the 2 inch receiver on your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. It has a 8 inch measurement from the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the wheel hoop so you will have the clearance needed. This is my recommendation for you because it will give you the options you seek. The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches # S64650 will give you about 2-1/2 inches more clearance,...

  • Can Swagman XC Hitch Mount Bike Rack Carry 69 lbs Of Bikes
As long as both of your bikes are at or below 35 lbs the Swagman XC part # S64650 would fit and work well. I know you said they total weigh 69 lbs, which is below the overall capacity, but if one of them was 40 lbs and the other 19 that would be an issue. You made it sound like they are both the same bike though so most likely they are both 34.5 lbs. Typically a 2 bike rack won't interfere too much with the headlights since it's only two bikes and most bike frames and wheels are for the...

  • Can Swagman Traveler XC2 Bike Rack Cradles Be Upgraded to Use with E-Bikes
Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out! If you're talking about the Swagman Traveler XC2 Bike Rack # S64650, then the max weight this rack can handle is 35 lbs per bike and there unfortunately isn't a way to upgrade the cradles to handle more weight. For an alternative option I recommend checking out the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR which has the same basic features, but it's more robust so it can handle up to 80 lb bikes (70 lbs for an RV/trailer) as well as 5" wide tires. Attached is a review...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Motorhome for Two Bikes
Since your 2000 Roadtrek 200 is a motorhome, you will need a bike rack that is approved for motorhome use, as well as one that has the capacity for the heavy 70 lb bikes. For bikes that heavy the best option is the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for Electric Bikes # S94FR. This rack will fit bikes with tires up to 3 inches wide so if your bikes have tires up to 5 inches wide you will also need the Fat Tire Adapter Kit # S64679. This is an extremely solid and sturdy bike rack that has an anti-rattle...

  • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2014 Infiniti Q50
Right now the only hitch that is confirmed to fit the 2014 Infiniti Q50 is the Curt Hitch part # C11407 that I recommended for Cindy so I would recommend this hitch for you as well. The Swagman XTC-2 # # S64670, offers a few things that have been improved over the Swagman XC-2, part # S64650. Beyond the aesthetics, the XTC-2 offers re-designed and improved wheel cradles that are stronger and position the bikes higher up to provide more ground clearance. The wheels hoops on the XTC-2...
