Video Transcript for Powerbuilt 12 Point Socket with 3/4 Inch Drive Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the Powerbuilt inch-and-seven-eights three-quarter-inch drive socket, part number ALL643216. This socket is ideal for tightening down hinge balls to ball mounts, or weight distribution heads. It's a three-quarter inch drive, so you need to be sure that you have a three-quarter inch drive torque wrench, or an adapter. It's a twelve point oversized socket, and it's built to exceed tool standards. This socket features a lifetime warranty. Now let's go ahead and show you how to use it in a typical situation. We've got our weight distribution system here and we need to torque down our ball.

In order to gain access to it, we're going to go ahead and flip it over, so we can gain access to the nut. As you can see, putting a pipe wrench down there, or any other type of wrench, would be virtually impossible. That's where this socket comes in handy. Lets go ahead and drop the socket in, make sure it gets situated. Then we can take our torque wrench and put it into position.

We'll want to set the torque wrench to whatever our manufacturer recommends for our ball mount. Now we can immobilize the other side of our ball, and begin torquing. If need be, it's not a bad idea to get an extra set of hands to hold your other wrench. Looks like we've got it. Now we can flip it over and continue setting up our weight distribution, or, if this was just a standard ball mount, we'd be ready to tow. That's going to complete our look at the Powerbuilt inch-and-seven-eighths socket with a three-quarter-inch drive, part number ALL643216.

Review for the thin wall 3/4" drive 1 7/8" socket. This was needed for torquing a hitchball to a weight distribution head. The thin wall was just narrow enough to slip onto the nut down in the head. It was snug but came off after torque was set with abit of care. If you have a tight work space such as l did on this application, you must use a thin wall socket. Product appears quality & should last yrs. 5 stars for product & timely shipping from etrailer...

One year update. After using the socket for the last year to check torque, all is as l would hope. No problems using to keep a check on the 430ft pounds required by manufacturer. Looks new. Has a good finish on the socket. No rust marks anywhere. Expected to last years with care.

I've only used it a couple times to take apart my trailer hitch. It's on there pretty good & the socket hasn't split yet. I was leery of the thin walls but so far so good. I used a beefy electric rattle gun + 4 ft breaker bar.

Fits the Equalizer trailer system 14,000lb hitch ball bolt perfectly inside the Equalizer hitch head! And who doesn't like "perfect" with a $40 savings over the Equalizer socket price. THANKS etrailer.com

Comments
Have pulled my 12,000lb toyhauler over 8,000 miles with the new ball and Equalizer system and some of the highways got surprisingly rough with no warning, which really took our rig on a bit of a roller coaster ride a few times but the ball and hitch system worked perfectly. Still like my purchase after putting it through some real world conditions.

Amazing quality and worked perfectly on my 14000 lb Equalizer Distribution hitch.. was a 60 second tighten, and was worried this thin wall socket wouldnt fit (silly me) I purchased a 24ft 3/4 drive torque wrench and that did the trick. Definitely keeping this aboard on my travel trailer.

Comments
Great! This is a lifetime part. After pulling my TT 6,000 miles if only had to tighten once using this product

Required piece when assembling the Fastway E2 hitch

The 3/4" drive 1 1 7/8" thin walled socket was just what I needed for my Equal-i-zer hitch. It was also the best price and fast shipping. My thanks go to etrailer.

Comments
I have no problems with the socket after using it several times in the past year. It works very well, and is worth the price.

Just what I needed to attach a trailer ball to by new equalizer hitch -- it's needed because the nut is recessed within the hitch.

Comments
Ball stayed tight from NY to TX and back. What more could you ask for!

Definitely needed this to install the Equal-i-zer hitch/sway bar. It probably a one-time thing, but it is a must.

Comments
Correct piece for the job.

The product is fine but it did not fit my Fastway E2 round bar hitch. I was told that it would fit, in the Q/A it said it would fit...well, it didn't. Maybe it would fit the square bar system...I don't know.

Comments
The 1-78 thin wall socket part ALL643216 is the socket needed to install the hitch ball on the Fastway E2 Round Bar weight distribution Hitches. You will also need a 1-18” Socket or Box End Wrench for the Shank Bolts and a 1-116” Socket or Box End Wrench for the shank nuts.

It's crazy that a hitch is designed that I have to buy this socket.. now I'm a rv tech so it will get used but for the average person really.

Just received and used on my equalizer hitch ball mount. Solid product and gets the job done. As a note, the brackets for the weight and sway arms have to be maneuvered to allow the socket over the nut. Shipping time was true to advertised and I was kept up to date on the progress of my order and shipping information. Much more affordable than I found this item elsewhere.

3/4” square hole on one side, 1-7/8” 12-point hole on the other. Held up to firm application of a torque wrench.

Socket worked perfect on my Equilizer brand hitch ball installation. Excellent Quality.

the staff @ etrailer.com were awesome, I cancelled & ordered again and again, until I finally figured out what I was trying to do and what to get. It didn't matter who I talked to, in an instant they would pull up my current order & modify it. Once again AWESOME!

Bought this to install a 2 5/16" ball with a 1 1/4" shank 2 3/4" long to a Fastway e2 FA94-00-0800 hitch as a thin wall socket was all they said was needed but this will not fit. It fits but once the nut is tightened there isn't room to remove the socket. I'm a do-it-yourselfer so I figured it out.....I got the cut off wheel out and took a 1/4" off the open end of the socket and now it has room to come off after the nut is torqued. All in all it's a very nice socket, just a little long for the application that it was supposed to work on.

Worked perfectly for assembling my WD hitch setup.

- ALL643216
by:

Works good for Equal-I-zer band hitches where there is very little space between the nut on the ball and the body of the hitch. It’s tight, but works.

- ALL643216

No problem with the socket at all. However, I ordered it because the Equil-i-zer weight distribution hitch said a thin walled socket was required for the ball. This etrailer brand is a less expensive than the Equil-i-zer brand socket......but as it turns out, my standard 3/4" drive socket out of my standard set fits just fine. No need for the thin walled socket in my case. I suppose some socket set brands would be different, but you may want to try your standard socket before ordering a thin walled socket.

Used to install new distribution hitch. Worked as expected and etrailers service is the best.

Only used once to tighten hitch ball. Got it done

The hitch is great! I installed the FA92-00-0600 on my 2014 Acura MDX to pull my 2019 Geo Pro 19BH camper. It is night and day between the old and new hitch. Way less bounce and herky jerky when starting and stopping. Really pleased with the hitch. Installation was straight forward though it took a bit of time to dial in just right. You also need some big wrenches for sure. I also bought the ALL643216 socket to attach the EQ91-00-6100 hitch ball. The packaging left something to be desired. Part of the box was falling apart and things fell out of the box when I moved it off my doorstep. The hitch is almost 100 lbs so I'm not totally surprised, but this could be improved for sure.

- ALL643216
by:

Can’t say for sure because Wilkins RV installed our hitch for us. I wanted this socket just in case. Looks to be comparable to Craftsman, Husky, Kobalt etc.

- ALL643216
by:

It takes a 3/4 inch socket wrench. That's THREE QUARTER INCH socket wrench. It is hard to find a 1/2 x 3/4 inch adapter locally in my area and maybe in yours. So heed the warning - it takes a three quarter inch socket wrench. Once you have the right tools, this is fantastic. So much easier than a pipe wrench.

Worked very well with a Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch (FA92-00-0600) to attach a hitch ball - had no issues with side clearance. Not sure what the (much!) more expensive OEM socket brings to the table that this one does not?
