Does Equal-i-zer Make Weight Distribution System Rated Lower Than 10,000 lbs

Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 02/04/2026

Question:

Does equalizer make a weight distribution hitch lighter than 10000 GTW? My campers GTW is just 6000 and tongue weight 550-600 fully loaded. Afraid the equalizer 10000 max rated will be too stiff on my 23 ft Flying Cloud/F150 rig.

Hey Denis! Yes, Equal-i-zer has a lower rated system. The next step down is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # EQ37060ET. As long as your trailer doesn't exceed the 6,000/600 lb limits of this system it will be the better choice.

You're at the top end on tongue weight but that's fine as long as you don't go over. It is also safe to assume you won't be fully loaded 100% of the time, which is another reason this will be a better fit than the 10k system. It comes with a hitch ball but you will need the # ALL643216 for hitch ball installation.

Any big trips coming up with your Flying Cloud once you set up the Equal-i-zer?

Hey Denis, how did the Equal-i-zer 6,000-lb system work out with your Flying Cloud and F150? It sounds like it should be a smoother match than the 10k setup. Your feedback could really help others dialing in their towing gear.
