Trailer Hitch and Weight Distribution Hitch for Towing With 2023 Toyota Sienna

Updated 04/09/2026 | Published 04/04/2026

Question:

Hello, I have a 2023 sienna with the factory tow package. I would like to upgrade my trailer but am concerned about tongue weight. It is rated for 3500/350, and I am planning to tow around 2300lb, but most of the trailers that Im finding have the axle pretty far back. Im looking at PNs FA92-00-0450 and C22UR the factory hitch is 1 1/4. Do you have feedback on that?

Hey Rob! That will make for a really nice setup with your 2023 Sienna. Even though that isn't a super heavy trailer you're pushing the limits of the Sienna. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight, plus you have anything behind the rear axle, and I'm sure you've got cargo you're taking with you in addition to the trailer.

Adding the Curt # C22UR will allow you to use the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0450 and bumps the hitch capacity up as well (you're still limited by the lowest rating, probably the Sienna itself). This is going to keep you level which is a big deal in a van that already sits fairly low. It will also cut down on sway for a much improved towing experience. You will also need a hitch ball # 40038 and # ALL643216 for hitch ball installation.

Are you getting a trailer with brakes? If you are, you will also need a brake controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. The Liberty is simple, reliable, and doesn't take up space in the cab. The main unit is hidden so only the control knob is visible which also gives it an OEM look.

What are you towing now? Any big trips coming up once you get the new trailer?
