What Head and Ball do I Need for My Reese Trunnion Bars with 22210E Stamped on Them?

Updated 11/11/2025 | Published 11/04/2025

Question:

I have Trunnion bars with the Reese 22210E stamped on them. Based on your QandAs, it appears that RP58167 and CB26c will fit my bars. I have a 1986 Hi-lo that takes a 2inch ball. Before I order these, Im just verifying these will work.

Hello Norm,

You are correct, the Reese Trunnion bars with 22210E stamped on them are the 800 lb spring bars used with the Reese SC Weight Distribution System, which has since been discontinued.

You can definitely use the Replacement Head for Reese Weight Distribution System - Trunnion Bar # RP58167 with your trunnion bars.

You mentioned the # CB26C, which is rated for 7,500 lbs. To better match your bars, I recommend the 2" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 10,000 lbs # A-90 instead. Since your bars are rated for 800 lbs of tongue weight (approximately 8,000 lbs of towing capacity), it’s best to have a hitch ball that meets or exceeds that rating. If you need a socket for installing, make sure to grab a # ALL643216.

How did you come across these bars? Do you have all the other parts needed, brackets, shank?

Good morning Kate! The bars came with the 1986 Hi-Lo we purchased. I did purchase the shank from Etrailer a few days ago. I already owned a sway friction control bar, which will work on this trailer once I reverse the parts. Thanks so much for the answer and advice. I finally realized that owning a vintage 40 year old RV comes with challenges. It's great to know that Etrailer may well have the replacement parts I need to update our RV. Norm

@Norm My pleasure, Norm! A 40-year-old trailer definitely comes with its challenges, but to be fair, the new ones have their quirks too. Once you get everything dialed in, you’ll be able to relax and get the color back in your knuckles while towing. No one enjoys that white-knuckle, hold-your-breath kind of trip =)

@KateF Hi Kate! Yes, white-knuckle driving! I've had a few of those. Norm

@Norm Oh yes, I’ve had my fair share too! The good news is it gets a lot smoother once everything’s dialed in, you’ll be cruising comfortably in no time.
