Video Transcript for LubriMatic Tools - Grease and Lubricants - L11402 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the LubriMatic marine trailer wheel bearing grease. This grease is recommended for trailer wheel bearings, water pumps, hinges, pins, winches, and anchor chain reels. It's going to feature superior rust and corrosion protection from saltwater, salt air, and atmospheric chemicals. It uses a special water and soluble formula. The base type is calcium sulphonate complex. It's rated NLGI number 2, NLGIGC-LV, and ASTMD-4950.

It's fully made in the USA. This is a standard 14 ounce cartridge. It does feature and indicator right here. That way, you know which end to insert into the grease gun first. The drop point on this is 550 degrees Fahrenheit. That's simply the temperature before the grease liquefies.

Take that off. You can see color of the grease there. It's just a greenish blue color. Again, it's a 14 ounce cartridge. That's going to do it for today's look at the LubriMatic marine trailer wheel bearing grease..

It’s Greece it did it’s job and reduce the friction. So far I don’t have any complaints it’s only been through one season on my boat trailer hubs. Etrailer made it easy to do a one stop shop and buy everything I needed for the project. 735041

I purchased 4 of these wheel assemblies for my 1993 boat trailer. It was far cheaper to replace the entire assembly than to buy all the peices and put it together myself. The parts were all high quality, and included evrything except the headache of assembly. I'll be back in 20 years or so. :) 396052

The items mentioned are still working well. I have been so pleased with my etrailer purchases that we bought 4 new tires and rims from you this spring. Paid less for 4 tires and rims than the local dealer wanted for two tires, no rims.

  • Can Marine Wheel Bearing Grease Be Used In a Utility Trailer
Yes, you can use marine wheel bearing grease in both your boat and utility trailer. It will not hurt anything at all to use marine wheel bearing grease in your utility trailer. The only real difference between the two greases is that the marine wheel bearing grease is much more hydrophobic so it repels water more effectively. However, marine wheel bearing grease is typically less cost effective than just standard wheel bearing grease which is why everyone just doesn't use marine wheel bearing...

  • Grease Compatible with Boat Trailer Bearing Use
From what I can find online, you can combine the calcium sulfonate grease and an anhydrous calcium grease together, but your quantities and amounts will need to be mixed correctly so it is not too thick. A grease too thick will not operate the same under temperature changes and will also not be as fluid to lubricate all the smaller parts of the bearing. For boat trailer bearings, we normally recommend the Calcium Sulfonate grease like the LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease...

  • Is LubriMatic High Temperature Grease Better Than LubriMatic Marine Grease
The difference between the High Temperature Grease, like part # L11465, and the Marine Grease, like part # L11402, has to do with what they are used for. The high temperature grease is great for dry application where your trailer is not meant to be immersed in water. The marine grease, on the other hand, is made for trailers that will be immersed in water. It provides excellent corrosion protection under severe conditions caused by saltwater and air. They are both excellent types...

  • Recommended Grease for use With Bearings on Boat Trailers Disc Brakes
I recommend going with a grease specifically made for marine applications and disc brakes, such as the LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease # L11402. This grease is made from a water insoluble formula with a 550 degree drop point and would be the perfect grease for the disc brakes on your boat trailer.

  • What Grease is the LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease Part # L11402 Compatible With
The LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease part # L11402 has a calcium sulfonate base. If the Mallory Marine Wheel Bearing Grease part 9-82750 that you are referring to also has this type of base then it will work well together. It will also work well with a few other bases as you can see in the attached photo and help article. If you need a grease gun then I recommend the LubriMatic Professional Pistol Grease Gun part # L30416 as the 18" flex hose makes for easy use in tight spots.

  • Basics of Trailer Maintenance and Recommended Schedule for Service
There are some basic guidelines you can follow for your periodic trailer maintenance. You are smart to get ahead of this instead of waiting for something to start making noise - or worse. The lifespan of your trailer's componentry will definitely be longer if you maintain these items along the way. This means not only peace of mind but also potentially lower costs to keep your fun rolling. We have many helpful articles available on our site for all sorts of subjects (please see the linked...

  • Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000 lb Axle With 13 Inch Wheels
We do have a solution for you, although the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # 34822545BX does require wheels be only 8" to 12". The reason for that is there is this hub does not have a large enough flange diameter in order to to provide the necessary side-to-side support for a larger 13" wheel, so it can become loose on the hub. Instead, the hub you need for your 13" wheel is the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # 8-258BTUC1. This uses the...

  • Can Regular and Marine Grease be Used in the Same Hub
That is an excellent question! In some instances mixing regular grease like part # L11390 won't hurt when mixed with marine grease like part # L11402 but in some situations it can ruin your hubs/spindles and taking the extra time to clean off the grease and redo the job is much better than having to do that again after replacing a bunch of parts that got ruined. The only way to know if it is safe or not is to look at the attached diagram and determine if the greases are okay to be used...

  • How Does Heat Build Up in Trailer Wheel Bearings
Bearings get hot from friction of the hub spinning around them on the spindle. Grease like # L11404 is used to lubricate the bearings which reduces the friction and helps keep everything cool. Also, the more weight on the trailer, or the more revolutions of the wheels, the more friction there will be. There...
