Hi Danny!
You definitely want Class S tire chains for those 235/70R16 tires on your 2009 Ford Escape. Class S chains are for vehicles with low/limited wheel well clearance and I recommend the following models:
Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair # TC2319
pewag Servo RS Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Links - Self Tensioning - 1 Pair # PWRSV79
These both have a diamond pattern, which means there is always chain on the ground for the best traction. The pewag chains are nicer and a little easier to put on than the Titan Chain option, but they are also more expensive. They also have a 90 day warranty whereas the Titan chains only have a 30 day warranty.
Where are you located or heading and how quickly do you need them?
Oh and you always want to put the chains on the drive wheels, so these will definitely need to go on the front in your case.
