Today we're going to be taking a look at the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains. Part number TC1146. These Titan snow tire chains are going to provide you with excellent traction in deep snow. They are and SAE class S chain, and they're designed for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance. They feature rounded twist links to form cross chains, so you're going to get adequate traction on snow and ice. They also have a ladder pattern which is going to be effective during starts and stops. The links are 5.3mm thick and they're designed to fit vehicles with wheel sized between 15" and 20".

See etrailer.com for your specific size. They're constructed out of a low carbon steel, so they're going to be strong and durable, and last a long time. They have a maximum speed rating of 30 mph. They come in a quantity of two, and you also get a nice little carrying case to keep them in. That way you can store them in your car, and keep your car clean. The attached tightening lever makes installation fast and easy.

Now let's go ahead and show you how to get them installed. We're going to be putting these chains on the front tires of our Cadillac SRX today, because it is driven by the front axle. To begin our test fit, it's a good idea if you lay your chain out, make sure there's no twists, kinks, or any tangles in it. You also want to be sure that the hooks here, the open side is facing up, just as you see it. Our tire's actually going to be making contact with the opposite side. One last thing, you want to be sure that your lever is on the outside of your tire. Now let's go ahead and take our chain and drape it over our tire.

It's a good idea to make sure that it's even on both sides. The way you can do that is feel around back here and make sure that it's the same in the front. Then we can finish draping around our tire and we'll go ahead and hook up the back first. In some cases, it can definitely help when putting on your chain, to have your tire turned. That way you can easily connect it in the back. Here on the back side of the tire, what we want to do is take our links here, and our hook here, and hook them together.

We don't want to hook too many, because then we won't be able to connect the front side evenly. We'll go ahead and start off hooking the third link. Now let's move on to the front. We're going to do the same thing, only we've got a lever here that's going to help us tighten it up. What we want to do is try to connect as many links as we can. What we want to do is put it through a link and it can definitely help to push the link all the way down to the lever. That way you can easily inaudible 00:02:35 back, and hook it in place there. Now we can repeat the same process for the other side. After you get both sides done, the manufacturer does recommend using a rubber adjuster. What this is going to do is it's going to help keep tension on your chain around your tire while you're on the road. It's going to keep it nice and tight. You could pick up two with part number TCMA2. They're easy to install, just be sure that the hook is facing away from our tire. We'll hook it in place on top and we'll go directly across and then just work our way around. You can see how it's starting to tighten up our chain. Now we're ready to hit the road. It's a good idea to drive a short distance, stop, get out, check to make sure if you need to make any adjustments or not. That's going to complete our look at the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains, part number TC1146.
