Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

When upgrading your 4.80x12 tires to The Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C tires you can use the same 12 inch diameter by 4 inch wide rim. You will just need to make sure the larger tire fits. This radial tire is great for highway use. It is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords. • Replacement Larger Tires for a 5x8 Utility Trailer
Hey Andy, thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you might have a 4.80-12 tire like the Kenda # AM30620, so to upgrade you can use a 5.30-12 tire, like the Taskmaster Radial Tire # TT53012C which is going to have about a 21-1/2" diameter and about a 5-1/2" section width. These install on the same wheel so you'll be able to have a tire shop swap them out for you. If these tire sizes don't match what you have, please let me know what the big lettering on the sidewall of your current tires...

  • Availability of Tires with High-Speed Rating for 12" Wheels
If your 4x8 trailer currently has tires rated for 60-ish mph then all you need to do is swap them out for the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C which has a load range of C (990 lbs at 90 psi), or the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C which has a load range of C (1,050 lbs at 80 psi). Both options have a max speed rating of 81 mph. You can upgrade to larger 14" wheels and an appropriate tire size if you have the clearance between your trailer and any fender...

  • Can 5.30-12 Tires Be Replaced With 4.80-12 Tires
That's totally fine, Rob. Since the tire you're wanting to use is smaller in diameter you'd have no issues fitting it into your existing wheel well.

  • Can Backup Camera Use Running Light Circuit as Activation Circuit
Hey Edward, it's really common for backup cameras to use the running light circuit as the activation circuit instead of the reverse light so I am wondering if maybe there was something wrong with the circuit or the connection you made. You shouldn't need a converter at all.

Hey David, sure can! We have the exact Taskmaster tire you need, plus a 5 on 4-1/2" galvanized wheel to go with it. Sadly, we do not offer this combination pre-mounted, but we can provide the tire and wheel separately. Here are the items: - Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT53012C - Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 12" x 4" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized Finish # AM20134 The tire has the 81-mph speed rating. The wheel is a zero offset which is pretty much standard for...

  • Is There A Way to Increase Speed Rating of Malone Kayak Trailer
Hey Mark, we do have a higher rated rated trailer tires that fit the wheels of the Malone Kayak Trailer # MPG464-LB that come with the speed rating you are looking for with the Taskmaster Radial Tire part # TT53012C. This would get you up to an 81 mph speed rating.

  • What is Best Trailer Tire in Size 5.30-12
Hey Lee, so in general the radial tire construction is preferred over the bias ply. You'll get a more stable ride and generally a little less heat build up. If you will be under the weight and speed capacity of your current tires I think you'll be just fine though. The absolute best option though would be a radial in your size of 5.30-12 that has a higher speed rating like the Taskmaster part # TT53012C but I do believe you're in a decent spot currently with what you have now.

  • 2011 Jayco Jay Series Sport Wheel and Tire Replacement Recommendation

  • Solution For Needing Higher Speed Rated Trailer Tire Size 5.30-12
We have trailer tires in the size of 5.30-12 that have a higher speed rating like the part # TT53012C but we do not have them mounted on a wheel. This tire is rated for 81 mph. So you could go with the tire and have them mounted on your current wheels or go with new wheels too and have them mounted locally like with # AM20153.

  • How to Get the Most Out of Your Trailer Tires
We have just what you are looking for. Although we do have load range D tires in the 5.30-12 size they are bias as opposed to radial in style. Bias tires are meant more for off-road purposes like agriculture whereas the radial tires have a sidewall with more flex that can better dissipate the heat build-up than bias can. I recommend going with the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C. It has a load range of C (Maximum load: 1,050 lbs at 80 psi), a max speed rating of 81 mph,...

  • Larger Tire Size to Fit on Lowes 4 by 6 Mesh Trailer
I looked up the trailer you mentioned and was able to find that it uses 12 inch trailer wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Based on the width of the tire relative to the rim it looks like a 4.80-12 tire size. The fender clearance looks pretty tight so I doubt you'd be able to go with a much taller setup as-is. Best option would be a 5.30-12 tire like the # TT53012C which will be 1/2 inch wider and 1.4 inches taller. What you might need since your truck is lifted is a larger...

  • Questions About Putting New Tires On 2000 StarCraft Venture Pop Up Camper
Hello Bradley, thanks for reaching out. I am happy to answer your questions! So as long as your wheels are in good condition, and there is no damage or excessive rust or corrosion or anything like that, you can definitely just replace your tires and keep your current wheels. I would say this is what a majority of people do. Trailer tires are not balanced the same way as vehicle tires. They are not spun on the same machine and weights are not used. Every trailer tire and every wheel...

  • Availability of Galvanized Wheel and Tire 5.30-12 with Higher Speed Rating
Hey Scott, the only way to accomplish what you are looking for is to order the wheel and tire separately. For that you'd want the part # TT53012C for a tire that matches the size you need and has the higher speed rating of 81 mph plus the wheel part # AM20124. Now I wish we had the ability to mount tires here but that's not an option we have at this time so you would need to find a shop local to you and have them mount the tires.

Hey Zack, Because of the speed rating you're looking for you'll be limited to the Taskmaster # TA69QR (Silver) or # TA79QR (White) if you have a 4 on 4 wheel bolt pattern. If you have a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern then you'll need the # TT53012C and would have to pick wheels like the # AM20132 separately and have them mounted. Each of these options has speed rating M (81mph) and would be the highest speed rating we currently offer under the 5.30-12 tire size.

  • Recommended 5.30R12 Trailer Tire for Highway Use
That's a good question, and the answer is that your current 5.30-12 tires are not safe for traveling at highway speeds. What you likely have on your trailer now is a bias ply tire, which is not good for highway use because they are stiffer and tend to heat up quickly. So if you keep your current tires and even if you stay within 55 mph, on that long of a trip you will likely get blowouts. The best option, by far, is to get radial tires which are rated for use at highway speeds (radial tires...

Having said that, going to a higher-rated tire such as the Load Range C Taskmaster # TT53012C is also not a good idea for your trailer. The reason is they have about four times your load capacity so you would have to deflate them or your trailer would bounce to the point it could get dangerous,...

  • Will Switching 5.30-12 Bias Ply Tires for Radials Help Prevent Blowouts
A 5.30-12 Load Range C tire has a load capacity of 1045 lbs each or 2090 lbs per axle which is more than sufficient for a trailer/boat combination that weighs 1850 lbs. Excessive heat build up is the number one cause of premature tire wear and failure. Exceeding the weight capacity, not correctly inflating the tires and exceeding the tires speed rating can all cause the temperatures of a tire to spike to unsafe levels. First, I'd recommend you confirm the fully loaded and ready to tow...

From what I'm seeing your Harbor Freight Haul-Master comes with 5.30-12 size tires like the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C which is about as large as you can go in that size range. You can upgrade to a larger tire with that same bolt pattern but I'm afraid the tire might be too wide and the sidewall make contact with your trailer frame.
