This aluminum tow bar is the absolutely snazziest tow bar you can get. Sleek, lightweight, with built-in LEDs for increased visibility and safe driving at night. The electrical cord comes installed in the cable guide, keeping your setup organized.

This is the coolest feature you didn't know you needed. These built-in LEDs don't just look dope - they're great for safety too, especially when you're driving at night. They light up the space between your RV and your toad (towed vehicle) and alert other drivers to the fact that you're towing a vehicle behind your RV. You definitely want to avoid an inattentive driver trying to merge right into the middle of your setup.
They also come in handy when you get to your campsite after dark and you want to unhook. These LEDs are more than bright enough for you to see what you're doing.
It's all extra snazz with no extra work. When you plug the power cord into your RV's 7-way to flat tow, the LEDs will have power. Turn on your RV's taillights and the LEDs come on too. Simple as that.
The Nighthawk is designed to make hooking up your toad a smooth and easy process. The telescoping arms are able to extend to the needed length and angle to reach the base plate without the need for your vehicle to be perfectly level or in the exact right spot behind your RV. The inner arms are stainless steel and will slide in and out smoothly. Supremely corrosion resistant, they'll stay rust-free and functional for the life of the tow bar.
Slide the tow bar into your hitch and pin it in place. Get the arms connected to the base plate one at a time. Once you're all hooked up, slowly pull forward and the self-aligning arms will fully extend and lock into the towing position. Double check that the arms are properly latched and you're ready to hit the road!
The Nighthawk's arms are longer than average, giving you an above-average turning radius. You're going to be able to get around obstacles and make sharp turns with no worry of clipping the corner of your RV. Maneuver through gas stations and the campsite no problem.
Uneven ground and sharp angles can put the arms of the tow bar in a bind and make them stiff and immoveable. Once you get to your destination, the last thing you need is to spend several minutes wrestling, yanking, and kicking at them to get your car disconnected.
Instead, get out of a bind in one easy step. Simply pull up the lever on the arm of the Nighthawk to disengage the internal latch. This releases the pent-up pressure so you can unhook and get on with your adventure.
The Nighthawk comes with cable guides built into the arms, keeping your setup streamlined and organized. The power cord will come pre-installed in the cable guide, protecting it from getting damaged or tangled. It's also a great way to keep all your gear together. You won't need to find a separate place to store your power cord; you can keep it right there where you need it, ready for the next time you flat tow.
You can thread the safety cables through the guides as well, which will likewise protect them from damage and make them easy to store.
The Nighthawk is engineered to be as tough and durable as possible. Throughout the design process, rigorous physical and computerized testing is done, including Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA). Each of these tests displays a 3-dimensional image of the tow bar while it is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. Areas of stress in the tow bar can then be located and studied so that those areas can be strengthened. This process is repeated until any weak spots, particularly those found in load-bearing components, are completely removed. The result is a product that is durable, strong, and safe.
The Nighthawk folds up to conveniently store on the back of your RV when you're not using it. After disconnecting the tow bar from your toad, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. Push the tow bar up until the holding latch clicks into place. The arms can then swing to the right or to the left, whichever side you want to store it on.
For added protection from the elements, slip the Roadmaster tow bar cover (RM-055-3 - sold separately) over the tow bar when you're not using it.
Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.
| For the RV | Between the RV and Towed Car | For the Towed Car |
|---|---|---|
| Hitch | Tow bar | Base plate |
| Wiring plug | Safety cables | Braking system |
| Wiring adapter cord | Wiring kit/diodes |
The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

The Nighthawk tow bar is very nice and easy to hook up. However, the electrial connection from "Towed" to Coach exits the left side of the tow bar and crosses under the receiver to connect to the Coach socket which is on the right side of the receiver. This causes the electrical cable to get tangled with the safety cables. It seems as though there should be separate parts for coaches with right or left connectors. I moved my Coach connector to the left side of the receiver to eliminate the tangle of the electrical cable with the safety cables.
The tow bar is easy to connect and disconnect and store. Mine connects to the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier receiver which works well.
I did have one incident where the electrical cord was somehow severed which meant that I had no operating supplemental brakes and no "Towed" lights. I did not know when it happened or how it happened. There should be some alarm when a disconnect occurs. I found the problem only because I stopped for a break and inspected everything. Since my "Towed" is very light and I did no hard braking, I did not notice the loss of supplemental brakes.
This is my preferred tow bar due to the cable guidance system. The only problem with this tow bar are the plastic covers that are protecting the inside mechanics for releasing the bar. They eventually fall out and get lost.
Shipped early and complete
Done deal, I think! Y'all are amazing. The tow bars arrived about 15 minutes ago! [Paula] Crystal and Tommy are 10 out of 10 in my book! It's hard to find good customer service these days, but it seems etrailer has great customer service dialed in. Thank you so much!
The product works great. I love all the light features on it. Easy install and easy of use. Using the product with my RV and Jeep Gladiator.
The Roadmaster Base Plate and All Terrain Direct Connect Tow Bar worked perfect for my 6-Speed Subaru CrossTrek. Looking forward to exploring and traveling later this spring.
Great job. Product is fantastic
RMR-676 was received quicker than expected, living in Alaska this was a great plus. Our product arrived missing some hardware. I contacted etrailer and the missing pieces were right away. Great service from etrailer and Roadmaster !!! Looking forward to snow melting and getting the motor home out for an actual road test!!!
The tow bar works great, But the breakaway cables didn't hold when my drop hitch broke, both cables sheared leaving my Jeep on the side of the road, luckily the emergency breakaway switch activated and it came to a stop. I think the cable needs to be stronger to hold a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE.
Great Product, 1 year in service, 20,000+ miles. Simple hookup and disconnect. Lighter weight makes handling it much easier. LED lights are a nice safety feature. Very happy with the tow bar and E Trailer.
Great towbar. This is my third Roadmaster towbar over the past 25+ years of RV'ing and towing Jeeps, all have been nice products. I have used this Roadmaster Nighthawk for the past year with approx. 6k miles towing our 2011 JKUR behind our 2003 Monaco Dynasty and so far I am very pleased with the purchase and product.
I am very pleased with the operation and performance of this tow bar. It is easy enough to handle, the tension release levels work great, and the built in cable holders really make for a clean operating set up.
For our set up (2018 F-53 chassis pulling a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Sport), we needed a 2" drop hitch receiver.
For our configuration, the Nighthawk needed to be modified because it was pulling a vehicle with the Stealth Brakebuddy: The standard 6 pin connector does not work with Brakebuddy's proprietary connector - it must use the 7-pin to custom plug cable included with the Brake buddy. To provide power to the LED array on the tow bar, I replaced the coiled cable with a simple heavy duty 4-pin trailer wire plug and cable, and connected that to the 4/5-pin connector on the RV, and plugged the Brakebuddy cable into the RV's 7-pin connection.
Great product. Highly recommended. We are using this tow bar on a 2008 Chevy Tahoe. We love the side LED lights as well. All the cables are heavy duty and have not shown any signs of wear or tear after 1 year of use. Caution: make sure you check your package contents when you receive the tow bar. It was not packaged too well; there was no padding in the box, so the plastic wiring harness 7 pin socket got crushed during shipping.
This tow bar is everything that is advertised! Great finish, and quality feeling strong hardware and fittings. Works great and is easy to connect and disconnect.
The Nighthawk tow bar has been great. Easy installation of baseplate on grand Cherokee. Cool LED lights on tow bar arms. Release lever on arms for easy on and off hookup, no binding. Bars fold up and stow out of the way on the RV when not in use. Defender Rock Guard to keep anything from being thrown up on the jeep. Just got back from Canada last week and no tow dolly to deal with at the RV parks. Another great trip made even better with Nighthawk.
The electrical connections shorted together at the connection point to the integral les light strings. The heaat shrink wore thru due to hack soldering job. The ramifications was that my truck braking system thought that the brake was on which was not fun on uphill climbs while changing lanes. I had to buy another molded cable to by pass failed cable. I did place an replacement request but when I followed up, the customer service tech
All items arrived in a timely manner. All parts received, in process of installing. So, far all things are good to go. After purchasing everything for a flat tow - I was hoping that they would have thrown in a cover for the nighthawk. HA HA - Joking
Integrated light wiring harness was DOA, they shipped a new end, no change. Turns out there was a short in the Roadmaster splice job to light the towbar. Once I eliminated the integrated harness, all the lights on the tow vehicle worked flawlessly. New roadmaster harness is nearly $200.
Great towbar but the added safety feature of it being lighted was flawed from the beginning so order with caution.
Works great, lights add significant visibility at night and make it easy to see quickly that the lights are working. Towed a Jeep Wrnager over a year without any issues.
IMI, best tow bar out there. Easy installation. Easy store. The LED’s look great. My wife, who is a traveling nurse, loves that she can install it in minutes.

Yes, the LED lights are a nice touch to make things more visible!
When I called etrailer with my concerns about purchasing a tow bar to flat tow my Grand Cherokee. I did not have a brand in mind other that what I read about in magazines. I was helped in making a decision on purchasing a RoadMaster tow bar along with all the electrical wiring needed to do the job. Everything came as described and was told if I had any problems what so ever to call for help. None needed but was good to hear knowing i had back up. I have used this tow bar and hook ups for around 10 or so camping trips. Mostly from Maryland to Myrtle Beach SC. No problems what so ever. I highly recommend etrailer and the RoadMaster lighted tow bar, wiring and bracket for my Car.

Still working great, I stand by my original statement and recommend to anyone looking to flat tow
The Nighthawk tow bar performed great throughout the 10k miles of traveling we did in 2024. We had no issues with mechanical or electrical components during our entire travel experience. I am very pleased with this purchase. Thank you to the Etrailer staff that assisted me with the decisions in selecting the tow components that I purchased.
Great stuff. The 6 way adaptor has two guide slots so flip the plug if it doesn't feel right. One right way but two options. :)
safety cables could be a little bit longer, as my hitch has a longer reach than most. But the bar is easy to hitch/unhitch and is obviously very good quality. I had an all-terrain for fifty thousand miles and loved it but wanted to replace it with something jazzier. This was very much the right choice.
The 5/8 hitch pin hole is not machined on centerline, therefore, the Hitch Pin will not go all the way through making this tow bar completely unusable.
I found this out after installing the base plate on my jeep along with installing all electrical modifications and a brake system. The tow bar should be plug and play so I didn't install it until I needed it. I reached out to Etrailer to advise 2 days ago. nothing yet, My 3 week trip is now delayed indefinitely. Extremely disappointed in this purchase.
