When roads turn slick with snow or ice, these diagonal-pattern cable chains keep you moving with confidence. The pattern keeps a cable in contact with the road at all times, giving you smoother traction through corners and better stopping power than traditional ladder-style cables. It’s a noticeable difference when you’re navigating winding rural roads or descending a snowy hill.
If you drive something with tight wheel wells, these Class S compatible cables are built for exactly that. They’re made with a low-profile design that clears the fenders and suspension components while still delivering the extra grip you need. The setup requires at least 1.46" (37 mm) above the tread and 0.59" (15 mm) between the sidewall and your vehicle, which meets SAE Class S standards for restricted spaces.
These are the kind of cables you tuck in the trunk “just in case.” They take up little space, weigh less than bulky chain sets, and are perfect to have ready when chain laws pop up or you hit unexpected light snow. Because they’re made for passenger vehicles and use smooth roller links, you get a quieter, more comfortable ride when you do need them.
Each pair includes custom rubber tensioners made for these cables, so you don’t have to hunt for the right fit. Once installed, the adjusters pull the cables snug and hold them centered on the tire, keeping everything secure even as you drive through snow and slush. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in reliability.

The cables are built from strong alloy steel, so the rollers resist wear and hold their shape through repeated use. They’re tough enough for seasonal driving and occasional snow trips, giving you dependable traction when you need it most without adding unnecessary bulk or weight.

We ordered these during the recent winter storms in North Carolina. Have never used chains before. Unfortunately, due to USPS delays, by the time we received them, we really didn't need them, but they will be good for peace of mind. I'm sure sometime they will be useful. We practiced putting them on yesterday and found that the tensioner was a lot harder to get on than shown in the video. My husband, who is strong, was barely able to do it, and there's no way I ever could. That's why they got 4 stars instead of 5 from me. But the product seems to be high quality, and I love the carry/storage bag they came in.
Haven't used tire cables yet … but … did install one to check the fit and look. And the thing fit perfectly on my 2019 F150 with 245/70r17 tires. Even look pretty good too! I especially like that the cables can be put on as the truck sets - no need to lay them out and back over them. And the carrying bag is nice - keeps everything together and able to be stored under a seat, in the bed, or wherever. I thought about getting chains with v-bars … but didn't think I needed anything that aggressive - so the tire cables ought to do just fine in deeper snow, packed snow and maybe even on ice.
Perfectly capable tire cables. Helped me get around my iced up city during the North Texas ice storm in late January.
Only two criticisms: 1. The bag came really dirty and dusty, like it’d been sitting in a barn since the 1800s. 2. the included tensioners weren’t long enough to strap to all 5 points across the rim. Luckily I had some 18 in bungee cords that solved this problem.
Looks to be of decent quality. I like the carry bag they come in which is a nice touch. Have not used them yet or put them on my car, so can’t give a full honest review at this time.
Shipping was quick, installation fiddly but doable. Customer service was excellent. Removal is a pain as things wont line up as neatly, but with some practice isn't bad. I got to use the chains in anger this winter and performance was great, I got into and out of places that would have been impassible otherwise, even with true 4x4 and good tires. Recommended for the price point and for occasional use.
Good product
Excited to try these out in northern Mi chigan

Marty was very knowledgeable and helpful Everything went just like she said it would
Fit nicely to the rear tires of our 2013 Buick Enclave. Taking it to Lake Tahoe area tomorrow (the Sierra received a record 9 feet of snow this month). We'll see how well they hold up.
Products are as advertised and at a very g8od price. Fast shipping too.
I ordered cable chains for a new Toyota 4Runner. The chains arrived as described, in good shape, with instructions for installation, and in a timely manner.
Low profile and fits as specified. I am a happy camper who hopes to never have to use them!
The etrailer.com site was easy to navigate and match cables to tire size. The one question I submitted by e-mail was answered promptly. Online purchase was easy. Cables arrived "free shipping" in two days in good condition. I'll have to wait for the first opportunity to see if I am smart and coordinated enough to mount the cables on the tires and assess the fit, and probably longer still to try them in the first snow deep enough to warrant their use.
Shipping was quick and communication was great from purchase to delivery. The cable chains install quick and easy in one step without having to move your vehicle at all. Fit is perfect and snug for my 255/70R18 tires.
