Features to know about

Confident Driving in Deep Snow and Ice: Diamond Pattern with Square Links Holds Firm

These Konig chains are built to bite into snow and ice so you can stay in control on slick roads or steep grades. The diamond pattern keeps more of the chain in contact with the surface for steady traction, and the square links dig in evenly so you don’t feel that harsh bounce you get from ladder chains. The result is a smoother, more stable ride whether you’re climbing a snowy hill or easing down an icy driveway.

No-Stress Setup in Cold Conditions: Self-Tensioning Design Handles the Work

Once you drape these chains over your tires and connect the ends, you’re done. As soon as you start driving, they automatically center and tighten, saving you from crawling around in the snow to check tension. There’s no need for extra rubber adjusters—the built-in single-chain tension system keeps everything snug. It’s a setup that makes winter driving prep fast and hassle-free.

Tire chains laid flat on the ground in front of a tire to remove twists before installation.

Built to Last Through Harsh Weather: Manganese Nickel Alloy Steel Resists Corrosion

The chains are made from high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel that stands up to long winters and repeated use. The tough links resist rust and wear, and the powder-coated side chain keeps them looking good even after heavy use. Nylon bumpers protect your wheel rims from scratches, while plastic-coated hooks keep cold metal away from your fingers during installation.

Smooth Ride with Tight Clearances: SAE Class S Compatible for Low-Profile Fit

If your vehicle doesn’t have much space around the tires, these Class S chains are a great match. They provide the traction you need without rubbing or snagging in the wheel well, requiring only 1/2" of internal clearance. That low-profile design helps maintain a controlled, comfortable ride even when space is limited.

Ready for the Road All Season: Compact and Easy to Store

Each set includes two chains packaged in a durable nylon storage bag, so you can keep them tucked away in your trunk until the weather turns. They fit 14"–16" tires, giving you dependable traction when you need it most and peace of mind when you don’t.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Fantastic, would buy again. Pulled out a couple jeeps with big tires. Sometimes the only thing that'll get you moving are snow chains

by:

Great Quality. Quick Installation and very easy to take off. Self-tensioning worked like a charm. I would definitely recommend them.

I bought these to use on my 2023 Rav4 TRD Off-Road OEM Falken AT Tires.

I highly recommend installing them at home a few times before heading up. Watching the etrailer videos on YouTube was also a huge help.

by:

seems like a great product, easily installed after watching etrailer video.

by:

Previously my only experience with chains was using cable chains on front wheel drive cars, where turning the wheels was necessary to ensure they had a good fit.

I bought these chains for my 2023 Kia EV6 with stock 235/55/19 tires. The instruction manual for the car says to put chains on the rear wheels and I was worried that getting chains on the rear wheels would be difficult. Despite never having used this style of chains before I was easily able to test-fit both chains with 15 minutes, and the chains fit very snuggly and didn't move when I move the car a cars length. Getting the inner loop positioned right is something that took a couple tries to get right, and I'm sure there might be a bit more room for improvement :)

I was slightly concerned about the chains damaging the rims or other parts of the car, but with the included spacers (not applied in the picture) I think this won't be a problem.

I'm taking the car up to the snow this weekend and if I use the chains I'll provide an update.

etrailer did a great job clearly communicating to me when my chains would arrive with no fuss.

by:

Great tire chains. etrailer staff was so helpful on a few questions I had along the way.

by:

Outstanding service! With an upcoming trip and recent snow storm etrailer helped me get my snow chains just in time for our vacation. Without the chains I would have been screwed. Communication with this company is impressive. The original chains I ordered would not have arrived in time and the sales team called me right away to find alternative solutions. Chains for 315/35/20 size tires are not easy to find. Really happy with my purchase. Thank you.

Well, I would say a little harder to put on correctly than advertised, but I called customer support and they helped me. Also watching all of the videos helped because each one was worded a little differently. Definitely would suggest one or two dry runs before you are in the elements. Important to realize to slide the plastic coated cable to the backside of the tire and center the chains after connecting the plastic coated cable and the small red hook. Once I figured this out I was able to almost perfectly center the chains (at least on one tire). On the other tire I couldn't get it perfectly centered (see photos). After about an 1/8 of a mile of very low speed driving it still didn't center but maybe with more driving at higher speeds it would. Also important to remember to have the yellow end of the chain on your right hand side beofore sliding behind the tire and making the first connection. One question I still have is how tight to pull the tension cable after you put it through the stop device. Every video seems a little bit different as to how tight you pull the cable by hand before connecting it to the tensioning device. As far as taking them off I tried four times to line up my car perfectly so I wouldn't have to drive over the chains after disconnecting them but this was not possible for me. So, with the plastic coated cable on top I just disconnected the connections in reverse and then put all the hooks and components off to the side and drove off/over the chains, which seemed to work fine. Will see how they work in the snow and ice but I'm hopeful they will do well.

by:

These chains are excellent quality and super easy to install. I watched the video and hold them out of the package line them up. Click them together. The tensioner works great. I rolled the truck back-and-forth. They are on and tight. It is well worth the money to have something high-quality that will work more than once.

by:

I bought these for my 2022 Honda Odyssey for a trip to Colorado. We had to use them during a chain law enforcement through Wolf Creek Pass. They're easy to put on and take off and performance was spot on through snow pack and ice. Recommend getting familiar with them in clear conditions prior to use as its more difficult. I had no problems and would recommend for anyone, especially the novice.

by:

Very impressed! On a cement floor you can have the chains installed and snugged in under 10 minutes. Also an excellent increase in traction for a RWD van. Definitely recommend the konig XG-12's. Haven't installed while travelling but I don't think it will be very difficult.

by:

I have a 2019 Honda CRV and have never owned tire chains before so I dont have anything to compare these to but they are easy to put on and take off and they conquer a steep icy unpaved drive way in The Catskills perfectly. There are some plastic parts that probably should be metal. One of them - the tension hook - broke on one of my chains (see photo) and when I reported this to etrailer.com with a photo to prove it, they sent another set. So I am pleased overall with the service from etrailer.com but am only giving 4 stars for the product on account of the breakage. Also they rusted after one season but that hasn't impacted performance.

by:

These are really easy to put on and take off. I have used them three times on my 2019 chevy colorado (4wd) to deal with high elevation mountain snow. After each use, I washed them, hung to dry and then put back in the truck. They are so awesome, I recommend them to others.

by:

Bought the chains for my wife's Volvo XC70 and a winter cross country trip last January. Needed them on I-5 between California and Oregon. They worked great. Practiced installing and removing them in the garage before the trip. Installing the chains in the snow was quick and easy. Appreciated the self tensioning feature.
Found out the hard way, though, that removing the chains is only easy if the wheel/tire is in the same position relative to the road as when the chains were installed. Easier said than done when it's raining and the wind is blowing up a storm after crossing the snowy mountain pass. Now we know to pack a crayon with the chains so we can mark the top of the tire after installing them, know to drive forward or back to again put the mark on top when it's time to remove them. Otherwise you end up with tensioning cables wrapped around brake calipers and lots of cussing.

by:

I love these chains, and etrailer is the best! As a 69 yr old retired grandma, I work part-time at a ski resort. A few weeks ago, we were expecting 8-10 inches of snow/ice and I was scheduled to work. So, I put these idiot-proof, color-coded, self-adjusting chains on my Highlander front low profile tires and waited for weather. See photo. I worked my full shift, came out to ice/snow in dark, and drove safely home. Oh, and the carrying case comes with a folded plastic sheet, but with my old knees I added a foam pad!

by:

Tunnel View at Yosemite. Chains worked perfectly, but not quite as easy to install as the video would suggest. I made the mistake of pulling over into 3-4 inches of snow to put them on. The snow packed around the base of the tire made it very difficult. That's not something you encounter when practicing in your nice warm garage. But once on, the chains stayed secure, and the car handled and braked with confidence.

by:

I was looking to have snow tire chains for my upcoming trip to northern Wisconsin. I found these to be very easy to install as the instructions were very clear. I like that they come with a case to make them easy to store in my Ford Escape.

by:

I think this is the fourth pair of these chains I have purchased for various vehicles. I have had great success with these over the years. No chains are "easy" to put on but these make it about as easy as it can be. Once you are familiar with the process it takes only a few minutes per tire. The self-tensioning is the best feature. The storage box even has a hook and loop pad on the back so it won't slide around in your carpeted trunk or back seat. I got these for my '25 F150 Lariat. Our vacation home is at the end of a one-mile lane that is steep, snow covered all winter and usually icy in places from the sun. Snow tires and chains are a necessity for us.

by:

I needed chains for my FWD Volvo up in the Catskills, NY. I have a dirt driveway, the FWD Volvo from 2017 can’t handle an inch of snow/ice surprisingly for a Swedish car. I searched for high quality chains and ended up here. I asked Josh questions before purchasing, he was so helpful. The chains are magic, tricky to install the first time, but now I can install easily. They work so well. They store back in their plastic box easily to place in the trunk. Very pleased.

by:

I had called multiple places and searched Google trying to find chains for my tire size, but no one had results for the make, model, and year of my vehicle. Since I had purchased chains from etrailer years ago for my previous car, I decided to give them a call.

I spoke with Abbey, who was also confused as to why my tire size wasn’t showing any product matches. She placed me on a brief hold to consult with an expert, and it turned out they did have the right product. I purchased the chains and installed them for a fitting—and they worked perfectly!

Thank you, Abbey, for going the extra mile to find a solution and the right product for my needs. Great customer service!

by:

Very happy with how easy it is to install these. I really appreciated the installation videos showing the different tire sizes - we got the right size first try for both of my cars. These are the only chains I will order from now on. Highly recommend.

If you need these chains in a hurry, use FedEx. USPS can be slow around the holidays. The quality of the chains is top notch! A well engineered product.

Hey Roger, a set of chains on all 4 of your tires like the Konig part # TH01571255 is going to give you the best traction for your Sprinter. I really like these Konigs because of how well they improve traction, how easy they are to install, and how long they last. Do you see a lot of snow in your area?

  • Are Additional Rubber Tensioners Needed For Konig Tire Chains?
Hello Thomas, thanks for reaching out. The tensioning mechanism on the Konig Tire Chains # TH01594225 is a single chain that stretches across the wheel. An additional rubber tensioner will not be needed. Sure if the chain were to break it would damage your vehicle but that is true for any tire chain, so don't let this discourage you from buying them. We do a ton of Konig chains here and I have never heard of the tensioner breaking or being a problem in any way. Konig chains are top quality...

Hi Walter! I do have a similar option for the 265/70-17 tires on your 2019 Toyota 4Runner, but the Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning - 1 Pair # TH01594225 are not going to fit. The largest these will fit are 215/60-16 and 215/65-15. For your 265/70-17 tires, you will want the Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Assisted Tensioning - 1 Pair # th01571267. • Can Snow Chains Be Used On a Trailer As Well?
It sounds like you are wanting to also run tire chains on a trailer you are pulling. This is a good idea as the chains can help prevent the tires from sliding on the trailer. This will help prevent it from sliding side to side and also help with braking should you have trailer brakes. The Konig # TH01594225 are a great option as they are self tensioning and have the diamond pattern which gives more lateral traction. These fit the most common 205/75-14 tire size for trailers.

  • Recommended Maximum Speed Using Konig XG-12 Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains
Konig makes an excellent product that's both durable and easy to use. Konig states in the owner's manual that driving above 50kph (about 31 mph) isn't recommended. This is typical for tire chains. It's also not recommended that tire chains be used on clear pavement. Doing so wold rapidly accelerate the wear and tear on the chains and would have a dangerous effect on your ability to control the vehicle in turns and during braking. When considering tire chains for trailers, we here at etrailer recommend using tire chains on your braked tires only.
