Are Additional Rubber Tensioners Needed For Konig Tire Chains?
Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/15/2024 >
Question:
Regarding: Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning - 1 Pair Part Number: TH01594225 To be installed on Winnebago Micro Minnie travel trailer 1706fb Is the self-tensioning mechanism simply a single, shielded, rubber chain snubber? If so, if it were to break, wouldnt this be damaging to wheel well immediately? Would it be prudent to run a 2nd backup snubber as well? Thanks

Hello Thomas, thanks for reaching out. The tensioning mechanism on the Konig Tire Chains # TH01594225 is a single chain that stretches across the wheel. An additional rubber tensioner will not be needed. Sure if the chain were to break it would damage your vehicle but that is true for any tire chain, so don't let this discourage you from buying them. We do a ton of Konig chains here and I have never heard of the tensioner breaking or being a problem in any way. Konig chains are top quality too so as long as your tires are one of the sizes listed below they will work great for you.
These chains fit the following tire sizes:
185/75-16
195/70-16
195/75-15
195/80-15
205/65-16
205/70-15
205/75-14
205/75-15
205/80-14
215/60-16
215/65-15
