Will Torklift GlowStep Camper Scissor Steps Work for You?
Scissor steps are typically installed on truck campers. The GlowStep scissor steps from Torklift are simple to install. After the initial installation, they're also easy to attach when needed and detach for compact storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.
The Torklift GlowStep scissor steps have a single mounting bracket that attaches to either the camper wall or the truck bumper beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available for the mounting bracket on your application and measure the width and height.
Once you have an approximation of where the mounting bracket will go, the spot you chose will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.
How Many Steps Do You Need?
To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will tell you how many steps you need.

How Do You Install the Steps?
To install the steps:
-Make sure the assembly is centered beneath the doorway
-Secure in place with included lag screws
Add any of these accessories to your GlowSteps for stability, eliminating gaps, and keeping your steps and RV interior clean. The GlowGuide handrail (TLA7621 - sold separately) attaches to the outside of your RV and a bracket on the bottom of the steps. This helps to steady the assembly and adds 25 lbs to the weight capacity of the stairs. The SafeStep vinyl barrier (TLA7602 - sold separately) easily fastens with Velcro strips in between any 2 steps. This prevents you or your pets from accidentally slipping between steps. The DirtDestroyer boot brush (TLA7603 - sold separately) affixes to the bottom of the steps so you can scrape your shoes before climbing into your RV.

Hello, neighbors and friends, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at the TorkLift GlowStep camper steps, and they're a scissor step, and it's a four-step step. Now folks, these pullout steps make it really simple, easy to get in and out of your truck bed camper. The narrow steps are perfect for truck campers with skinny entry doors, and the scissor design lets you manually collapse and open the steps when it's time to fold 'em up for travel. So I kind of demo that real quick, simple fold-up design. They've even got, step up closer here, they even got a cable here.
You fold 'em up enough, you can put that cable in there, and then they're not gonna come back on you when you're traveling. Now, taking that cable back off, and you can kind of see that scissor design there from the side. Very nice, very easy to open. And I'll go ahead and put them back over here. Now, keep in mind this mounting bracket up here would be mounted to the camper, and then you could simply pull a pin on both sides and have the steps off.
Now, one thing I wanna mention is this glow tape. I'll zoom into the top here. So on each step there's one on each side, and this glow tape is really amazing. It glows in the dark for up to 10 hours with only five minutes of light exposure. I will turn off the overhead lights now and kind of demo that for you.
All right, so you can kind of see that glow there and I'll change my camera angle farther away. You can kind of see each tape there. I know you can't see it perfect with the indoor lighting and whatnot, but you kinda get the picture, right So again, 10 hours of light with only five minutes of light exposure. Pretty impressive. Now, these aircraft grade aluminum and stainless steel steps and risers and everything have this tread molded into them.
So it's gonna give you a nice, sure grip whenever you're walking on there. And like I said, the steel, or stainless steel, rather, hinges here on the sides, those are bolted together for easy add-on removal or even replacement of an individual step. So maybe you get a different camper in the future and you want to either remove a step or add one, it's pretty simple to do. Now, this is made here in the US. As far as some dimensions, these steps are 18 inches wide. So 18 inches wide. They're about six inches deep, and the whole capacity of this guy is 375 pounds. So it really is a nice, simple, easy to use application, but yet very, very sturdy. Now, one thing I do wanna point out again back from the top here is the hardware. You're gonna get a bag of hardware. I left it here in the bag just 'cause there's a lot of stuff and I'm limited with space with the steps out. But you get all the mounting hardware, fish tape, and the included instructions to install it as well. So you're gonna have everything you need, folks, to get these safely installed and use them.
