Exceptional fast serviceLove the steps. Exactly as described. They shipped UPS Express at no extra charge. Thank You!

Well made, correct height for my ram 4x4. very happy with product.

by:

Very impressed with quality. Very good communications throughout shipping. No other step like it.

by:

Fast shipping!!! I think the item shipped 2 hours after I placed the order. Looks to be a good strudy product. I jumped up and down on it and it feels good. I did put some grip tape on it with Winter being here but other than that this is a great company. Will do businees again.

by:

Steps for Truck CamperThey fit the receiver nice and snug and they are sturdy. Keep your weight in the center and they will last forever. I also had some grip tape so I used it to make sure there were no slips. These are painted metal so you could slip if feet are wet or muddy. Both things happen when your camping. I noticed ETrailer.com has the grip tape also so if you don't have any get it from them.

Great step if you don't want to drill into your truck camper for installation of scissors style steps. It was delivered to my house within a few days. Great product and service from etrailer.com

by:

Very satisfied with the steps! I have a 4x4 so the bottom step is a little high off the ground, but the top step is in line with the truck bed. So we can step directly into the camper. When it's fitted to the hitch with the last hole, it can be left on while driving. It tended to wiggle a bit, so I put a wedge in the small gap where it fits into the receiver.
There was nothing on the internet that I could find that compares to these steps. Happy camper!

I am 67 with well used knees so climbing up and down from the truck bed was very difficult and not very safe. I received these stairs and popped them on the hitch. I have a Ridgeline so I could open the tailgate from the side and it cleared the step with plenty of room so I could use both steps. I climbed up and climbed down with no real effort and felt more than safe from falling or injuring a knee. It is small enough and light enough to put in the bed storage box so it is was the perfect solution to my problem of getting into and out of the truck bed.

This is perfect. Im 68, my knees are bad and this makes the difference between getting in and out of the truck bed or not, just that simple. I have a Ridgeline with front and rear lift kits so the truck sits about 3 inches higher with oversized tires also. The steps are light enough and compact enough to keep in the in-bed storage compartment.

Although I have the aluminum four step from etrailer for my pickup camper on a one ton, when traveling I often go in the camper and hang on while gingerly stepping on the bumper inset for the license plate. I am not getting younger and this has made all the difference in ease of use and safety.

A year later, still a wonderful addition to my pickup camper.

by:

Overall I'm happy with the product. I use it for steps to get in my camper. It's fairly lightweight and small. I can leave it on the vehicle when I'm driving, or take it off if I want a smaller footprint for parking. I have a license plate camera (since my tailgate is off, so my factory camera is removed) and for the most part the camera view is not obstructed by the step.

The build quality is pretty bad. I didn't feel like going through the hassle of return the product, but the top step is tilted quite a bit (see picture). It's just sloppy manufacturing. I'll live with it, but it's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

Update: I ended up talking to etrailer, and they sent me a replacement, and the build quality of that one is good. It couldnt have been easier to exchange. etrailer did a great job. Still happy with the performance and functionality.

@Dave We're glad to hear that the situation ended well!

by:

It's great but you should make an offset option. I ended up cutting mine and welded an offset "jog" since my camper door is not in the center of my tailgate. Other than that it's great.

by:

The steps are spaced well, strong (I’m 300lb test) and easy to install and remove. A great accessory to have for easy access to the bed of my Cache Camper truck/camper.

by:

Not only is the step very high in quality, it was the fastest from order to delivery I have ever experienced. The 2 steps are perfect to get into my camper (Ford f250 on 19" tires and rims). I highly recommend

by:

Being somewhat disabled I had a hard time exiting my boat. With the help of these steps it is no longer an issue. These steps are solid. I used a small bumper receiver mounted unto the riser. Much easier to exit the boat now without the fear of missing my step on the trailer beam and falling or slipping.

Still perfect use for my application

I came upon a reference to this product while searching on line for a receiver-mounted platform to replace the folding step stool we had been using to enter our Four-Wheel camper. It appeared to be just what we needed, and I found that it was an almost perfect fit. The top step is at nearly the same level as the step built into the bumper of our 2001 GMC Sierra, so this provides a large level place for our feet when we are exiting the camper. With the step unit inserted into the receiver with the middle hitch pit hole aligned, there is only a very small gap between the top step and the bumper step. I am not sure yet if we will be traveling with the steps in place, but I did install reflective red tape on the back edges of both steps, and on each side of the lower step, so that it is more visible. Be aware that the mounting bar of the step unit is not a tight fit in the receiver, so there is some movement when weight is placed off-center on the steps. Wrapping tape around the mounting bar, or perhaps inserting shims, might improve this situation.

by:

I like it! I use my '55 Grumman (Doughboy) for camping and was looking for an alternative to carrying around a stool/step to put on the ground. I came across this Hitch Stair and I already had a 2" receiver on Doughboy, so figured I'd give it a try.
I was going to make one myself, but didn't want to take the time.
It does have a little "wobble" in it, but that could also be my receiver. I just carry a couple of wooden shims with me to make it steady and it works just fine.
I recommend it!

by:

This two step hitch stair setup was exactly what I was looking for to provide easy access to our truck camper. The steps feel very solid and secure when going in and out of the camper. I bolted on some 2x10s to make the steps even a bit larger. I painted the wood and added antislip strips for safety. I also offset the wood steps a bit as our camper door is offset to the left. Silas the dog has no trouble going up and down these stairs! Great price for a great product!

by:

We bought a new SUV and the fold-out, hitch mounted single step wasn't cutting it for our 115 lb. 10-yr old dog. This unit makes it more like using regular stairs and will be a great help for our roadtrips.

by:

My truck bed camper is so easy to access with hitch stair and extender. Having them has finished off my project perfectly. Thanks

by:

This product is a life saver! After having stumbled off a small step ladder to exit my truck camper - resulting in knee surgery - I thought NEVER AGAIN! These steps are solid, stable and DEPENDABLE! Knee surgery is not how one needs to start retirement!

Thanks for a great SAFE product!!

  • Steps Options for an In-Bed Camper
Hey Lars, thanks for reaching out! I definitely have some options for you, but it will be helpful to know what the entry height is for your camper to ensure you get the right sizing for the stairs. The Hitch Stair # RHS2 installs in a 2" receiver and will work if you'll be removing your tailgate, but my favorite is the TorkLift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps # TLA7844 because of how stable the stairs are, and that you can remove them and store them in the camper. The GlowSteps I referenced...

  • Measurements of Brophy Hitch Stair with 2 Steps RHS2 on Ram 1500 Pickup
The way to determine if you will be happy with the fit of Brophy Hitch Stair with 2 Steps # RHS2 on your Ram is to take note of the height of the top step relative to your receiver opening. The top step of this unit will be 5-1/4-inches above the top of the receiver opening on your Ram's hitch. The three hitch pin holes allow for flexibility in how close to the vehicle the step will be positioned. I went to our warehouse to measure these holes' positions relative to the top step. The...

  • What Hitch Extender/Adapter Do I Need for My Reese Winch?
I have a solution for you. The receiving end of the Hitch Extender for Brophy Hitch-Mounted Stairs # RHSE is only designed to fit Brophy Hitch Stairs # RHS2. Unfortunately, they will not be able to accommodate your Reese winch that is compatible with a 2-inch receiver. With that being said, if you need a hitch extender that will fit with your winch and allow for an additional accessory, I recommend the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 10" Long # RM-077-10. I have attached for you some dimensions of the Hitch Stair with 2 Steps for 2" Trailer Hitches part # RHS2 that you can then use to determine if it will work on your 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 in the fashion that you described. That said, the step can indeed be flipped upside down but whether or not you would be able to use a closer hitch pin hole and clear your bumper/tailgate is not something I would be able to confirm. • Step to Help Dog Get Into Truck Bed with Tailgate Folded Down
The PortablePET Twistep Hitch Step # HE3045 would be a perfect solution for you and your dog. If you check out the picture I attached you can see that when this is extended out the step is put in a location that it will be very helpful. Since you have a larger dog the extra step of the # RHS2 I believe wouldn't be as necessary and also this would take up quite a bit more space to store when not needed. Especially with a hitch extender as well.

  • Recommended Steps for Front of Boat Trailer
It sounds like you are trying to add some steps to the tongue of your boat trailer for help getting in the boat. If that is the case then only bolt-on option we'd have is the HitchMate Boat Trailer Step part # HE4036 which bolts onto the frame. The 2-step # RHS2 is the only multi-step hitch mounted steps that I have seen. You might want to look at steps # TLA7806. You can attach these steps to the threshold and they will reach all the way to the ground when pulled out. They also feature glowing parts on each step so they are more visible at night. I have linked the installation instructions to the right for you. We also have # AS25 and # AS05 that can reach 48 inches.

You do not have to remove the tailgate on your 1997 Ford F-150 to use the Brophy Hitch Stair, # RHS2. If you keep the tailgate down you will not be able to use the top step because it will be covered by the tailgate, but you can still use the lower step. • Can RHS2 Hitch Stair Be Used With 3" To 2" Hitch Reducer Sleeve?
Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the # RHS2 Hitch Stair can indeed be used with a 3" to 2" reducer like the Curt # C45408. As long as your hitch reducer is not an extension, they will work together fine. Hitch extensions will lower your tongue weight capacity. The # C45408 is a reducer sleeve that inserts fully inside the hitch, so no tongue weight capacity reduction. Those sleeve adapters can create a bit more play at the hitch, but that is the only thing you would need to keep...
