This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Coleman Mach air conditioner on your RV or camper. The included adapter wiring kit ensures that the AC works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Coleman air distribution box and thermostat. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

I installed this ac on my camper about a year ago. It is a replacement for a C* unit installation was easy with adapters to connect wiring. I really like this unit. It is quiet and pulls relatively little current and cools really well. I have experience installing several different ac units on campers and living quarters of horse trailers. This is a very good product and if I need another AC I will strongly consider this brand

by:

The product is excellent. I am giving 4 stars because the unit did not fit with the existing controller. Thankfully a friend was able to engineer a solution; otherwise I would have had to return it.

After a year the unit is still working great blowing cold air so we can camp in the GA summers!

@Sherry It definitely gets hot down that away! We're glad your A/C is working well for you!

This was supposed to be a replacement for a Jayco 19h 2008 hybrid. I was told it would work fine with my ceiling control with the addition of a converter cable. This is a stretch at best. The holes for fastening the unit are 13 1/2 inches between. The holes in my old mounting plate are 12 1/2 inches. Thinking I needed to use the Advent ceiling unit, I ordered that. When I looked at that there was no way to make that fit. Back to using my old ceiling unit. Drilled new holes and then had to figure out air defection as the Advent doesn't match my old ceiling unit. Had to reroute the wires and build baffles out of foam and alum vent tape. Also installed start capacitor to make sure my trailer would handle the new unit. Had to call Advent to verify wiring connection for start capacitor. You should be creative and patient to install this unit yourself.

by:

The installation was literally plug and play. New unit works well. Advent needs to upgrade their packaging. The first unit I got was damaged. The second was damaged but not as badly. E trailer was excellent in getting me a replacement, shippers are hard on stuff. Really happy with the outcome.

by:

Everything worked great except my old mounting bolts were 5/16 and these units require 1/4 so would recommend getting the bolts before installation 1/4 x7 are needed. But otherwise they work great! Love them!

by:

Package arrived complete and undamaged. I had help to get the old unit down and new unit up. The project took a little over three hours. I had to make slight modifications due to difference in my old unit. Very grateful for etrailers assistance in getting new unit and verifying delivery procedure.

by:

The unit seems to be a top of the line quality product. Installation was fairly straight forward except the instructions are outdated. Instructions tell you to remove the receiver cover to prep it for mounting the Coleman control panel. The cover is not removable, it's now a high density foam. Also the supplied hardware is not long enough to go through the cover. The photos in the instructions are very hard to determine what they are of.

Labor Day weekend 2018 we were camping at a site in direct sunlight. While running the unit on high we experienced a smell of something electrical over heating. I feel that the compressor failed. I have been in touch with the company and have the location of the nearest service location but have not been able to take the RV there yet. There is a 2 year warrantee so it shouldnt be a problem just an inconvenience.

by:

The unit arrived timely and was as advertised and I damaged. Great price too!

by:

Will never buy anything from you again, unit makes noise, call and never get a response one day I waited 45 minutes on phone

Thanks for reaching back out to us. I have sent your information to our customer service team and they should be reaching out in the near future to get you squared away.

by:

It fit good ,fast shipping, cools good nice, Thanks

by:

Now that I have installed it. Well designed product. Start capacitor modification took about 10 minutes. Trans=locating the old control box took longer than expected as the trailer control wires and romex power cable were not long enough. Mounting it lower in the evaporator housing worked. The long (4 ea) through the roof mounting bolts are spaced farther apart than Coleman's configuration and take up the whole roof-top opening. Everything is working in all modes.

by:

Jury out on this one. I finally received the unit and it came with only minor shipping damage. I have yet to install the unit and the instructions are calling for a piece to be removed which is not removable. Will see.

This kit is designed to replace the Coleman upper unit only. It will utilize the installed Coleman control system. This kit is designed to work with common Coleman models, but should not be considered universal.

by:

Ahoy folks.
Yelp I ordered and
received ACCOL135 unit. designed to replace a Coleman unit.
product was delivered from out of state, right on time!! very cost effective.
easy installation. preformes as advertised. longevity undetermined?

by:

It works fine mostly plastic and styrofoam and noisy and this is comparing it to the Coleman Mach 3 that I replaced last year on the bedroom on my motor home and this one on the living room of same motor home.

by:

Great unit, I was not aware it didn't come with the air distribution box so I had to order it separately. If I did it again I would have bought the complete package I found after a little more research.

by:

Very pleased with the purchase, perfect fit. Thanks for checking up on it.

I couldn't be more disappointed in this unit. I initially bought as an alternative to a 15k ducted Dometic unit that went bad and quit cooling in my 2018 Heartland Bighorn. The description at the time said it was a direct replacement and was 1/3 the price so I bought it. Like a lot of others, it showed up with a damaged cover. etrailer says they'll ship a new one when they get back in stock so that's no big deal. The issues began when I started the install. I got my old unit off the roof and the new one up. The footprint is considerably smaller so all the old mounting holes fell outside the gaskets area so I had holes to patch in my roof. The cutout size was exact, but there was no center divider to separate the return air from the supply air so I had to make one of those too. I went to hook up the wiring and, lo and behold, the control box wasn't included and wasn't compatible with my Dometic unit and there isn't an adapter available. Back to etrailer to order the control box I needed. Finally figured out how to rewire my camper to match the new box (again, no adapters or instructions are available) and found out my Dometic thermostat isn't compatible with the new control box. Finally sourced one from Amazon since etrailer doesn't sell it and got that installed a few days ago. Turned everything back on and it started to run. Checked all 3 fan speeds and everything seemed to be working good. It was 87 in the camper after sitting in the Spring sun of South Carolina all day. Let it run on high for an hour and a half and went back out to check on things. It had only dropped to 84 degrees! It's not even remotely hot outside yet. The air was coming out cool, just very little volume. If this is how it's going to be this thing is getting ripped back off and I'll bite the bullet and buy a Dometic again.

Long story summed up - compatible doesn't mean anything and upgrade is a complete lie. This is the first time I've truly been let down by etrailer.
