How It Works

Paired with your AC unit (sold separately), this electric heat strip keeps your RV warm on a cold or frosty morning. It is operated with the control dial on the air distribution box (sold separately). After you turn the dial to the heat setting, the compressor will shut off, and the fan will blow air over the heater and into your RV. When the optimal temperature has been reached, turn the dial to a fan or cooling setting. Please also note that the heat strip only has one temperature setting and cannot be controlled by the thermostat.

Simple Installation

Advent Air Electric Heat Strip

To install, mount the heat strip to the evaporator inside the AC unit with the included mounting screws. The heat strip has easy, plug-and-play installation with the supplied 30" power cord.

Video Transcript for Advent Air Electric Heat Strip Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Advent Air Electric Heat Strip, part number ACMHD. The Advent Air Heat Strip installs on your AC unit so it operates as a heater. This way you've got an all in one climate control system. It provides 5500 BTUs of heat, which is enough to heat a small RV or trailer. It's an easy plug and play installation with your Advent Air system. Let's go ahead and show you that now.

We're going to be installing our electric heat strip on the ceiling mount Advent air conditioner, part number ADM150. We're installing ours on a new unit, but if yours is already on your RV, you just go up on top and install it there. There are 10 screws located around the perimeter of the cover. Just remove those screws and slide your cover off. Your heat strip goes under your indoor coil cover.

Just pull up to remove that, and set it aside.Your heat strip is going to attach to the front of the coil using four screws. Drop your wire down inside. Slide your heat strip in place, and thread in your screws. There's two holes on each side of your heat strip. You'll attach those using the four screws provided in your kit.

Reinstall your coil cover. Just press that into place, and then reseal the putty around the openings. Slide your cover back on, and secure it with the 10 screws. Once you've completed your installation, you'll just plug this into the control box on your RV, or if you have a new unit that you're installing and you put it in there, just tuck that up inside so you can connect it later. That completes our look at the Advent Air Electric Heat Strip..

  • Air Conditioner and Generator Recommendation For Enclosed Trailer
  • I recommend Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135C for the 8.5x24 ft enclosed trailer. The temperature range is 65 degrees F to 90 degrees F so it will keep your enclosed trailer nice and cool on hot days. You can also add a heat strip with part # ACMHD for colder days. The air conditioner does require a 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" wide opening on the roof but there is a thick gasket built into the unit to prevent leaking so there is not a need for any type of sealant. • Will the Advent Air Electric Heat Strip Work with a Wall Mounted Thermostat
  • Yes, the Advent Air Electric Heat Strip part # ACMHD will work with the wall mounted thermostat on your ducted Advent Air 13.5K Air Conditioner. You would just have to first adjust the dip switch on the thermostat itself. I am sure you are aware but there is a red "OPT. HEAT" slot on the fan control knob which will allow you to control the heat on the standalone unit. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. I have sent you some additional documents on adjusting the...

  • Availability of Advent 13,500 Btu Air Conditioner with Air Distribution Box # ACRG15
  • There isn't a full Advent Air Kit available that includes the Air Distribution Box # ACRG15 in place of the standard model, however you could piece together your own kit using the individual components. To match the contents of the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Kit # ACM135CH you were looking at (except for the Air Distribution Box) you would just need part # ACM135 for the 13,500 Btu AC itself, # ACMHD for the Heat Strip, # ACMSCKIT for the Start Capacitor, and # ACRG15 for the upgraded...

  • In order to use the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 with the Ceiling Vent Assembly with Wall Mounted Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACRG15 on your trailer in place of the dual Coleman Mach unit you have now you would need to use the Advent as a standalone unit as there would be no way to communicate with the Coleman Mach thermostat. • Advent AC and Heat Pump Recommendation for Replacing Dometic AC Unit on RV
  • Going with the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup # ACDOM150 that you referenced is your best option. To add a heat strip though you will also need the part # ACMHD and you'd be set.

  • AC Unit Replacements for 1987 Winnebago Chieftain
  • The best way to choose a new air conditioner for the 1987 Winnebago Cheiftain is to choose an air conditioner with the same BTU as your existing one. The most common BTU ratings are 13,500 BTU and 15,000 BTU however going up in BTU won't be an issue. You also want to take into consideration if your Winnebago has air ducts or not. The ceiling package is what changes based off of if you have air ducts or do not have air ducts in the RV so you could use your old unit in a RV without ducts if you want to and all of the features would work. I spoke with my contact at Dometic who confirmed this.
