Advent Air Dometic Plug-In

This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Dometic air conditioner on your RV or camper. It plugs directly into your Dometic setup and works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Dometic air distribution box and thermostat. This eliminates the need of an adapter wiring kit, which saves you time and effort. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent 15000 BTU AC. Best price I could find on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. I received the unit 4 days earlier than expected which was a good thing. The installation, including getting it on the roof, was about 30 minutes. The Advent was a direct replacement for a 4/5-year-old Dometic Brisk II that quit cooling. The Advent is slightly quitter that the Dometic but of course that is only my subjective opinion. On low speed you can continue an intelligible conversation. The Advent has been installed 3 days now and it is working great. I have purchased from etrailer in the past and have been completely satisfied. There are three concern/issues that need to be mention/address. (1) Packaging could have been better. The box it came in looked like it had been rolling around in the back of a UPS truck. (2) There was no installation instruction or owner’s manual whatsoever that came with the unit. I pulled mine off the internet. (3) the unit had minor damage on the base or main frame of the unit (I hope it does not cause issue later). The damage was not so bad as to cause forgoing the installation. Since the shipping box did not show any noticeable damage at the location of the damage on the unit, I can only assume that it was shipped by etrailer that way which is a QC issue.

Great replacement for a Dometic AC. Easy installation and functions much better than the Dometic that came with our RV.

The Advent brand was recommended to us by several mobile RV repair people. Selecting the right unit was made even easier by the descriptors etrailer used. Installation was very simple and we had the old uninstalled and new installed in under 30 minutes. This unit is even quieter than the Dometic it replaced. Item was delivered within days of ordering. Easy breezy.

Amazing product, I will definitely recommend Advent to all my RV friends. Extremely easy to install, just a little to heavy to get up a ladder alone so i used a tractor to lift the unit to the roof of my RV, 4 bolts on the inside to remove and the wiring harness and off with the pos demetic, placed the Advent right in place bolted it down turned it on and instantly got cold air, very cold air! Only thing you have to install which I think the factory could do but, was easy.

2/9/2021. Prior to delivery, I received an email from etrailer recommending that upon delivery open and inspect the contents. I am pleased to say that the a/c was packaged securely and appears to be in excellent condition. As we have freezing temps here for several days, it will be a while before I can install the unit. The test will be at installation time.

Way, way better than Domectic. Plugged right into my wiring. Blows very cold air. Its everything I could have asked for. Bigger motor and quite abit more out of my ducted system. You can't go wrong. Tim was very helpful, and fast shipping. Etrailer is the way to go!

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Unit works great. Took an hour to change out. Hooked up as advertised. We replaced a Coleman Mach 3 13,500 btu for the 15,000. Puts out a lot of CFM. Unfortunately, UPS shipping damage occurred in transit. Really nothing you can do about them being careless with your packages.

I hate to see this kind of damage! I passed your information along to customer service for them to better assist you.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Have an 1999 Ford E-150 van used as an RV. I built a 30 amp box with 2-20 amp circuits several years ago. I and 3 doggies travel all over the SE for dog agility competitions. Loading and lifting a window A/C unit into the driver's side widow worked, but a major task. I cut and framed a hole in the van roof and installed the Advent ACM150. Had to install 12 volt system for thermostat and fish both 110 and 12 volt wire through walls and ceiling. A/C turned on perfectly the very first time I pushed the thermostat on button. Wowee...100 degrees outside; 69 degrees in the van. Absolutely life changing for me an my doggies. P.S. I am a nice 75 year old lady and still cannot believe I did this install all by myself. One year and miles later, this A/C is perfect!

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

I would like to thank George for his help when I needed it. In the year using my Advent air conditioner, it has done very well. For a DIY it was a straightforward install, and I only needed someone to help me get it on top of the RV, (in the box as someone suggested). I hope to get many years of service from my Advent air conditioner

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Installing was quick and efficient. At first when I hookup up unit on the inside, it was blowing hot air. After purchasing the advent air distribution unit without thermostat, everything runs smoothly. I love my unit. This my first time installing everything. I would buy again, if my second unit goes out. Great replacement for carrier unit.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

The Advent A/C unit is working great. Hardest part is getting it up on the roof. 6 plug works as advertised and was easy. There was a thermistor freeze protection with two wires that came from the Dometic unit. No one I contacted at etrailer or Advent had any idea it existed and couldn’t help me find a replacement. It’s working fine without it, but was concerning for a while.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Installed 2 new Advent 15k btu air conditioners on our 2010 Winnebago RV. The old Coleman Mach units were dead. I got the pigtails that connected the new ACs to the existing Coleman control box. It couldn't have been easier! I didn't have to disconnect power or any of the wiring. Just had to drill 4 holes in the existing metal Coleman ceiling retainer rings for the hold-down screws. Read the instructions and it goes simple. Also, I was able to fit the old Coleman control box under the ceiling above the filter plate instead of cutting it into the return air shroud like the instructions suggest. It was a better installation for us. 2 units installed in 4 hours. Nice system, would definitely purchase again. Also the 2nd time we've ordered expensive things from etrailer.com with zero issues.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

I received the unit as promised. I installed the start capacitor. Very Easy. Good instructions. Hardest part was swapping the units on/off roof!! I would say it took me a total of 45 minutes to change. It is 91 here in AZ. The unit is putting out 48.8 degree temperature. VERY VERY HAPPY with the whole process and end results!! I will be replacing my second unit soon……

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

I ordered 13500 and 15000 btu advent units to replace my dometic units. Had 1 problem that was handled quickly, 1 unit had a cracked cover and it was replaced. Advent seem to be good but I will be able to tell more when the weather gets hot. Install was direct replacement.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

This was a replacement for a Carrier V 15,000 roof top. Still using the Carrier control panel and ducting. Runs and cools good but cycles more than our older advent air 13k ductless in the bedroom. Cycling may be caused by the ducting instead of ductless. It is quieter than the old Carrier V and seems to cool the same.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Haven't had to use it yet but did a quick test. Seems to work well. Unit was delivered much sooner than expected so that was great. The install was simple. Took me longer to figure out how to get the 100 lb box on the roof by myself than to actually install it. Install took about 30 minutes as a direct plug & play for my Dometic DuoTherm. Soft start was easy to add on as well. This is not my first purchase from Etrailer & will not be my last. I didn't need help with this item but the staff is always so helpful when I do need them.customer service is always top notch.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

This unit was plug and play from my old unit. Startup capacitor installed in about 2 minutes. Took about 30 minutes start to finish. The only difficult part was climbing the ladder to get it on the top of the rv. It is big and awkward with no good place to hold onto

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Super simple install. The hardest thing was getting it on the roof and the old one down. Simple plug and play. If you're at all mechanical you don't need to pay to replace your A/C unit. 6 screws to remove the inside cover, 4 bolts holding the unit to the roof, one main plug and a sensor wire. The sensor was just jambed into the factory condensor. The new unit actually had a clip in it for the sensor. I highley recommend this unit. Works great. We had a 100 degree day and the trailer stayed at 78 all day long.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

The package come in a day early , so I like that the box itself wasn’t damaged but the unit had a nice little dent on the bottom , didn’t seem to affect the operation of the unit. As the description states it’s a plug and play for the old dometic We installed the QuickStart , which only took a few minutes. I’ve read reviews on how loud the advent is and in our rv its 10x quieter then the 2 year old dometic that it replaced. We let it run for about 3 hours outside temp was around 78 (south Mississippi) And the air temp coming from unit was around 53 So as the first 4 hours go we are happy with the purchase. Would by again

I ordered this product on Wednesday and received it on Friday. That was great service. The unit was exactly what I ask for. Installation was a breeze and it was plug and play just like the knowledgeable sales person said it would be. The unit is much quieter than the old one. If this unit is as good as the service, I will be very satisfied.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

The AC unit arrived 2 days early! Customer service contacted me before I even picked it up at the post office to ask if I needed anything! It has been a long long time since I have been so pleased with a company, of any sort! The unit works as advertised, and was super easy to install! The unit I replaced is 25 years old, owes me nothing. I will be satisfied if this one lasts half as long, lol. Thank you so much!
