Advent Air Dometic Plug-In

This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Dometic air conditioner on your RV or camper. It plugs directly into your Dometic setup and works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Dometic air distribution box and thermostat. This eliminates the need of an adapter wiring kit, which saves you time and effort. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

My 3 year old dometic had the 120v wire rub thru on ac refrigerant line going to compressor and arced a hole in it. 20,000+ miles on RV, fulltime. I needed a replacement in a hurry for Labor day weekend. I tried to find a like Dometic unit but could not get one in time to install before weekend. With great reservation I ordered the Advent direct replacement from etrailer, I watched their videos and read reviews, good and bad. I wanted the Dometic brand but had to take a chance, within 20 min I had old unit removed sitting on roof next to opening, 6 screws inside cover, 4 long bolts to unit, freeze sensor lead, and one 6 wire connector. Stop here, the area between outside unit and inside cover had duct work and had gap between roof and inside ceiling, there was duct tape sealing this area and it was all peeled off and gaps, so hot air would be circulating in the ac outlet area, we spent a hour taping this space up to eliminate air leaks to and from roof in the ac interior air box. back to install the new unit set right in place and bolted down, plugged in wire and freeze sensor had a indicator where to install it in the evaporator. I failed to mention installing the start capacitor that came with the unit is easy as well, you could do it before or after, i chose to do before on the ground and not on roof. bolted down the unit and plugged in 6 pin connector. turned on AC and immediately surprised by noise level, easily 1/3 to half quieter than old unit? i believe largely due to old tape in duct work causing air noise. but may be the unit itself. ran this unit 4 days non stop in 90+ degree weather and it cooled better than old unit? again not sure if its the unit or the fixing hot air bypassing in the interior area of ac discharge. Very happy with unit and if it lasts 2 years I will be happy, donā€™t hesitate to get this, i had never replaced a rv ac unit before and it took less than an hour minus fixing the air box of the rv. etrailer shipped the unit in a timely manner, I had concerns with shipping times and they provided great feedback during the shipping process. 2021 MPG TR BH2100

still cooling like a champ! spent weeks in Florida in middle of summer and performed great. I have no reservation of using Advent AC again.

by:

Install was super easy. Have a plan and be careful getting it on the roof. Appears to work. It's a bit cheaper than the Dometic Brisk Air II that it replaced but it's supposed to have higher BTUs. Hopefully it lasts plenty long and works great. I'll have a better idea after the next month!

This product has held up a year. Very happy with it.

by:

AC cools great and the installation was easy, all plugs matched the original. The shipping packaging is subpar. The cover was damaged due the bolt on top of the dryer punching through. There is no styrofoam, only cardboard.

Advent 15000 BTU AC. Best price I could find on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. I received the unit 4 days earlier than expected which was a good thing. The installation, including getting it on the roof, was about 30 minutes. The Advent was a direct replacement for a 4/5-year-old Dometic Brisk II that quit cooling. The Advent is slightly quitter that the Dometic but of course that is only my subjective opinion. On low speed you can continue an intelligible conversation. The Advent has been installed 3 days now and it is working great.
I have purchased from etrailer in the past and have been completely satisfied. There are three concern/issues that need to be mention/address. (1) Packaging could have been better. The box it came in looked like it had been rolling around in the back of a UPS truck. (2) There was no installation instruction or ownerā€™s manual whatsoever that came with the unit. I pulled mine off the internet. (3) the unit had minor damage on the base or main frame of the unit (I hope it does not cause issue later). The damage was not so bad as to cause forgoing the installation. Since the shipping box did not show any noticeable damage at the location of the damage on the unit, I can only assume that it was shipped by etrailer that way which is a QC issue.

Just completed one year full-time rving since the installation of the unit. Still working fine puts out good cold air. Its a little loud on full speed but I think thats expected in most travel trailers.

by:

The main problem with these units is the shipping container. This was the third unit that arrived damaged. UPS must have flipped the box over on its top and crushed the compressor terminal housing. The impact was hard enough for one of the terminal screws to punch a hole through the top cover of air conditioner. I waited weeks for this unit to be in stock again and now they want me to wait weeks more to get a replacement. as for the quality of the unit itself: unknown since I can't get a fully functional unit to install. Probably going with a Furion or Dometic at this point.

by:

Worked great. Replaced a Dometic Brisk 2 (B59516.711 CO). Went right on. No issues. Back had a little damage from shipping but unit was perfect. After getting it up on the RV roof it took maybe... 20-30 minutes. Came on and cooled the RV perfectly. 6 pin went right into Dometic controller and freeze sensor was a breeze (pun!). Only had a week but so far so good. This unit was less than half the price of an actual Dometic unit so we'll see. :)

by:

One unit was damaged/bent... Called to arrange for a replacement and was informed that i had to send the damaged unit back before replacement would be sent.... Didnt have time to wait for a replacement... Straightened unit out and installed... during start up heard fan hittind the foam cover and had to adjust the motor mounting bracket to correct

by:

Keeps the trailer cool and comforctable. I have done more camping this year because of the new a/c and I love it!

Finally getting around to commenting about my Advent Air / Dometic replacement. At 1st I was a bit skeptical. The price seamed very low compared to other units. But did the research and most folks were pleased with the purchase. Ordered the unit - then got the "its on backorder". But from the beginning I was surprised by the updates I got from etrailer - real emails from people not canned stuff. My unit arrived - it had been banged pretty good in shipping. (etrailer - you could save yourself a lot of headaches if you would overpack this product and add a bit of styrofoam) I took some pictures and sent them back to etrailer - thinking now what do I do. To my amazement in a few hours I actually had a phonecall from etrailer's Sheila C! She was concerned about the damage she saw in the pics - promised to ship me another unit express. Sent me the details on how to ship the other unit back. Got the unit in 2 days. It was a direct plug in and play. Oh yeah - other folks had mentioned that the hardest part of the install was getting it up on the roof. Correct! But the rest was easy. Its been running in the Texas sun (100 degree plus days) over the last 2 months. The engagement started out somewhat rocky - but the follow up and support from etrailer - Sheila C - was quite impressive. May seem crazy to give them 5 stars considering the initial issues - but the follow up exceeded my expectations!

by:

This is was an easy installation and a quick and easy plug and play replacement for my old Dometic a/c. Works with Dometic controls as well. I would have given it 5 stars but it did not come with the mounting hardware. We will see how long it last, but as of now I would not hesitate to buy this again.

by:

Even though it was a different brand from what we originally had on the top of our camper, the fit was an exact match. I had it installed within an hour. It is a quiet unit with more BTUs.

by:

It was delivered in a timely manner. Have not installed a/c yet but will later this week. Shipment arrived as scheduled. Thank You.

Outstanding AC unit. The AC from etrailer.com was super easy to install and works like a champ! Highly recommended!

by:

Easy install. Plug n play fit perfectly. Hardest part was getting it on top of TTrailer. Working great after 1 year.
About half price of dealer Dometic OEM AC

by:

Installed today and what can I say. Installation. Was a breeze. Start capacitor bolted right into place on the unit and the six pin connector fit perfectly into my Domitec setup. Air was pushing sub 30 degree cool air. This AC was installed on a 2018 Keystone Cougar 315 fifth wheel.

by:

Fantastic service. Delivered on time and very simple to install.

by:

Great reviews and price. Easy replacement 1 to 2 hours. Nice and cool now

by:

Exact replacement for what I had. They made sure of it. Painless ordering process. I was able to replace my old unit within 15 mins. Perfect fit with my existing controls

by:

simple install, make sure to prep around ducting with foil tape to seal good and decrease loss of cool air escaping. Plug and play install, blows harder than the dometic it replaced on my motorhome.

by:

Purchased one for a TT and after 2 uses it wit working. Fought with the company for 1 year to get warranty coverage. Finally got that done. Sold the TT right after that. Bought a second for a 5th wheel. Have had it for 1 year and seems to be working as intended. No bells or whistles. Just doing what an ac does. Using these only because they're least expensive at the time of purchase.

by:

A year later, the unit runs like a champ. I replaced it myself

by:

This A/C model was recommended specifically for my previous model and fit absolutely perfect.Easy install and got here fast!!

by:

Excellent service and support thank you very much!

by:

It all has arrived on time and we will install it on Monday afternoon we have to travel 200 miles to install it all looks great

This product has worked flawlessly since we installed it. Easy install directions and cold air. Who could ask for anything moreā€¦.

The Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup # ACDOM150 (white) and # ACDOM150B (black) are priced that way because they are not a complete kit. They are just the rooftop A/C unit and a start capacitor. Since they are only the rooftop unit, you need to already have an existing Dometic set-up inside (air distribution box and thermostat). If you already have that in place, then you can use either of these to replace the rooftop unit of your A/C.
