Is Start Capacitor Necessary to Use With Advent AC ACCOL135

Question:

So I hooked up the AC unit WITHOUT the start capacitor, the AC works fine! It is connected to shore power I should mention. Does that start capacitor have to be used or is it primarily if the generator is used as the power source?

The start capacitor is not something that is a necessity to use with the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner # ACCOL135.

The AC will run without it, but it is something that is highly recommended, mostly - as you correctly stated - for use with a generator. Generators can struggle with the appropriate amount of starting amps, which is why it is a good idea to use.
