Is this right for you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:

Yes, if you:

  • Are adding an AC as a backup for extra cooling power or as a new feature in a trailer that didn't have it before
  • Boondock frequently and use a generator that might struggle to start up the AC without a capacitor
  • Often stay in really hot or humid places and need something to keep up with the heat

No, if you:

  • Sometimes get chilly and need a little heat to stay out on the road longer into the season
  • Have a hard time reaching to the ceiling to change settings
  • Only have a 30 amp service RV and want to use this as a 2nd unit - you might be better off with less power
Ductless AC unit lets you replace an existing AC or add a new AC to your RV. Air distribution box has a built-in thermostat to control the fan and temperature. Start capacitor jumpstarts the AC when camp power or generator power isn't enough. Lowest Prices for the best rv air conditioners from Advent Air. Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - White part number ACM150C can be ordered online at etrailer.com or call 800-298-1624 for expert service.

This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 cool settings and the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the dial also controls the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

I purchased the 15,000 btu model Shipping was fast the unit works fantastic installation was pretty easy my trailer was preset up,you definitely need the hard start capacitor as my 4500 watt generator starts it but wouldn’t without it I also purchased the heater strip that is all the pros the only con is the 2 knobs that control pop off once in a while so I glued them on definitely would purchase again

etrailer.com did they job delivering it on time, good packaging and working properly. This equipment does a good job, in the trailer is always way cooler than outside, but I still wish the AC Unit was a little more powerful. I won’t complain though, it was definitely a cheaper equipment. I could have spent a lot more in a different unit.

Keeps the horse trailer really cold during the 100 plus degree summer, Only thing is when it rains it leaks but that could have also been user error when installing it. We had to replace our old AC since it quit working on us and this one is doing the job really well.

Received product on the day promised. Product had a little damage from shipping. Don't think it will affect the ac working properly. Haven't installed yet. Planning on it this weekend. Will follow-up. Ac seems to be better made and heavier duty than the original.

Hello .. My first unit came damaged ref # 111032829. I contacted Matt who helped me out. However the replacement unit took several weeks to arrive part was back ordered . Anyway the new unit was delivered yesterday and it came with FRAGLE STICKERS on the box good idea . I am very please with getting the replacement unit .. I have to say the people I talked with at etrailer we very helpful and I will purchase from them again ...

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

I'm planning on using my trailer as a workshop so heat and AC were important. This AC unit was easy to install into the existing 14x14 vent. Took me about an hour to install and everything went smoothly. My trailer is 28 ft long so I'm thinking that I'll be needing a 2nd unit at the far end. I'll decide that after I'm finished insulating the walls. I've already put in 2 inches of rigid foam on the roof and that alone made a huge difference.

Comments
AC works well but I recently upgraded this unit to the remote thermostat so that I would have more precise temperature control. Upgrading was easy just bought the part from etrailer and installed. I definitely do need a 2nd unit which I hope to do soon.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

My husband installed this as a second air conditioner in our 5th wheel. Installation took a little longer than expected due to getting the inside template to line up with the main unit. Also, it is pretty noisy on medium and high; however, that doesn’t bother us as we like to sleep with “white noise”. Overall, it cools well and is a fairly straightforward installation with minor adjustments needed. If you are mechanically inclined, installation should not be an issue.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

As with other orders, the generator showed up on time and in good shape. The etrailer videos were very clear as to remove the old AC and replace it with the new Advent unit. The etrailer videos also showed to install the capacitor, the heat strip, and the distribution box. We were worried about getting the unit on the roof of the camper however it really was not a problem ….. we leaned a ladder up against the camper, tied a rope around the box, then leaned the box against the ladder. One person got on the roof and pulled the rope while two more people pushed from below... no problems and in about a minute the box was on the roof. The unit is now installed and looks good …. no power at the storage yard so I can only assume that the unit works as it is supposed to (like ever thing else we have ever ordered from etrailer). Good Job guys!

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

This was purchase for a front 5th wheel living room. Discharge vents face the front and back of the trailer, it would be better if they were on the sides facing the couches. Unit is very loud even on low to be used while watching television. The included 7” mounting bolts are too short for a 5” thick roof plus the roof gasket. Needed to go up on roof and use my 220 lb frame to sit on top of the unit and compress some of the roof gasket with my wife inside to get 3 of the 4 mounting bolts started. Will need to go to a home improvement store tomorrow to buy a longer mounting bolt to complete the installation. The plastic prongs on the hole plug crumbled during installation and fell out. Not impressed so far, will need to wait for a warm day to see how it performs.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Installed on used short school bus, partially converted to an RV. The unit was relatively easy to install. It looks good and runs great, however I should have bought a larger unit. The interior of the bus is approximately 150 square feet so I thought 13500 btu would be more than adequate. While it does not quite keep up with this Louisiana heat, it is much better with it than without. The bus did not come with factory ac, so I installed a generator on the bus so I can run the unit while driving.
