  • Start Capacitor
  • Advent Air

If your generator or shore power needs a little extra help to start your RV AC unit, this start capacitor will give it the power boost it needs. Relay switch turns the capacitor off once power has been supplied.

Features:

  • Start capacitor jumpstarts the AC (sold separately) when a campsite or generator doesn't provide enough power
    • Stores energy that will later be used for the next startup
  • Relay switch turns starts capacitor off once sufficient power has been supplied
  • Easy, bolt-on installation
    • Hardware not included

Specs:

  • Overall dimensions: dimensions: 2-1/8" long x 3-5/8" deep x 6-5/16" tall
  • 1-Year warranty

How the Start Capacitor Works

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

To install, bolt it to the fan motor support and then route the wires to the run capacitor. Mounting hardware is not included.

Added as a second unit to a 33' Crossroads. Works great. Easy straight forward install. Using the ACRG 15 air distribution box with thermostat. All the wires are labeled from the factory so installation was a snap. Added the ACMHD heat strip also but it's 85 degrees and a little hard to test that out just yet. The crew at etrailer were great at helping me get everything picked out that I needed. Shipping was fast. If there was such a thing as a 10 star rating, they deserve it 827584

Seems like a great product so far. Installation was simple and it cools a 8.5x28’ trailer easy. One note: you must have 120v and 12v supply for this AC to work. I did not know that and had to go through some extra trouble of running 12 V power source. 812362

The unit installed very easily. My Advent 135 is an earlier unit, the configuation is a bit different. But the piece went on pretty easy. 567174

I purchased the ACMKIT for my coleman mach 1350 btu A.C. on my R.V. travel trailer. My two 2000 watts SUA2000i generators would not start my air conditioning compressor. I installed the hard start capacitor, it solved the problem. Very satisfied. 564683

  • How Much Does the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners Drop Starting Amps
The Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACMSCKIT is designed specifically for the Advent Air RV Air Conditioners like part # ACM150. The start capacity will bring down the starting amps for the air conditioner to 15 amps.

  • Replacement Rooftop Air Conditioner for Carrier V Setup
I am not sure if you are aware or not but there is a significant increase in power requirements when starting a rooftop air conditioner. For example, the 15,000 Btu Advent Air RV Air Conditioner requires almost 5,000 watts upon startup if not using a start capacitor. The Honda EU2200's would only produce 4,400 watts so this might be your issue. Therefore, the solution to this problem would be to install the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACMSCKIT which brings...

  • Does Advent Air Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT Work on 15,000 BTU Advent Air AC Unit
Yes, the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ACMSCKIT will work great with your Advent Air AC unit that you have. What's great about this is that it basically can work on any RV AC unit that is power by 120 VAC. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Adding a Heat Strip to Advent AC Units
The Advent Air Electric Heat Strip - 5,500 Btu # ACMHD can be added to many of the Advent Air Conditioner Units. It can be added to the following to take the chill out of the air: # ACM135 - 13,500 BTU White Air Conditioner # ACM135B - 13,500 BTU Black Air Conditioner # ACM150 - 15,000 BTU White Air Conditioner # ACM150B - 15,000 BTU Black Air Conditioner I also recommend getting the start capacitor # ACMSCKIT to allow you to start your AC without any additional current draw needed...

The Go Power Solar All-Electric Kit will not be enough to power the air conditioner unit 24/7. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Ceiling Vent and Start Capacitor - White # ACM135C will have a running wattage of 1,450 so the power draw is substantial and when using the Go Power Pure Sine Wave Inverter - 1500 Watt - 12V # 34279950 you will have the power to run it, but the battery bank will deplete as the solar cannot create enough charge to recharge the batteries when the AC is running....

According to Advent you will be able to use the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup # ACCAR150 as a replacement for your current AC so long as the thermostat and relay box of your Carrier AC is functional, as you can see by the cut out of the Advent tech bulletin I added for you. • Is 13,500 Btu Advent Air Conditioner Compatible with Ducted RV System
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM135 is compatible with both ducted or non-ducted systems so it will work great with your RV! Since Duo-Therm is a Dometic product this AC unit should work with your control box as Advent made sure their products works with Dometic AC units. I do recommend also installing the Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT as well. This stores energy needed to start the Advent unit so that you aren't pulling a lot of power just to start your AC unit.

There isn't a full Advent Air Kit available that includes the Air Distribution Box # ACRG15 in place of the standard model, however you could piece together your own kit using the individual components. To match the contents of the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Kit # ACM135CH you were looking at (except for the Air Distribution Box) you would just need part # ACM135 for the 13,500 Btu AC itself, # ACMHD for the Heat Strip, # ACMSCKIT for the Start Capacitor, and # ACRG15 for the upgraded...

  • Will Advent Air Replacement Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150 Use Dometic Analog Thermostat
The Advent Air Replacement Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150 includes the AC unit which connects directly to your Dometic wiring as well as the Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT. This means that you will just remove your current unit and set this one in its place. The Start Capacitor keeps enough charge to start your AC unit which is great for times when the starting draw of the AC unit might exceed the output of the campsite. This unit uses your existing Dometic ceiling vent and thermostat.

  • Are Advent Air Conditioner Units ACDOM150 and ACM150 the Same
That is correct. The part # ACDOM150 that you referenced is the exact same as the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACM150 with the Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT. This is compatible with Dometic connections that use the 6 pin connector that you see in the attached photo.
