Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Adapter Wiring Kit for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners

Hey guys, Kevin with etrailer. And today I'm gonna be talking about the Advent Air RV AC wiring harness adapter. If you own a Coleman or a older model RV AC unit where it has a heat pump in it, you're gonna notice that your connector has a nine pin connection. A lot of the newer rooftop models really just don't come with that heat pump anymore. It's only gonna be a six pin model. So the way to replace our rooftop unit without having to replace our entire system our air distribution box, and our wall thermostat is to use one of these wiring harnesses, which will allow you to plug into that nine pin connector that's on your controller.

And then that six pin connector that's on the rooftop unit. If you look at your connector on your AC unit, you'll notice it has these rounded connection points with flat edges on it. And that's gonna match up perfectly with our connector so that you can only plug it in one specific way. Go ahead and pop that together. And then when you look at your nine pin it's gonna be square with a rounded top.

So we wanna make sure that we're placing it on our controller the exact same way. Otherwise it's not gonna connect. Now with switching from a six pin to a nine pin in our wiring harness, we are losing that ability to have a heat pump. But with our unit today, it doesn't have one anyway, so no real loss there. Well, I think that about does it for today's look at our Advent Air RV AC wiring harness adaptor.

My name's Kevin. Thanks for watching..

The adapter kit was fine but the Advent Air Conditioner was defective. While I was in the process of getting a replacement unit my trailer was totaled in an accident and they refused to provide a refund. Very dissatisfied with Advent but happy with etrailer.

Thanx so much for your site. It's easy to navigate and your customer service is stellar. Love my Advent Air, staying cool in these long hot Texas summers can be a challenge but with your help I have survived. When my old unit quit I was at a loss for what to do next and your help gave me all the confidence to make the right choices. After selecting the AC unit your prompts helped me choose all the proper accessories to stay cool. Never had a company check in after a year. Thanx Again.

Replacing the Mach with an Advent is a major pain. Semi-complex. They need to send new gasket to seal off supply side fron
M retirn air side. Much more involvrd to change out to this Advent. You have to cut hole for control box etc. PAIN !!

by:

this air conditioner was a breeze to install. It has made camping life so much better. HIGHLY recommend these products and this company. Best prices around.

by:

I had an RV repair man put it in. Took him less than an hour
It is really quiet. Cooling is excellent. It was mid 80's and air coming out the farthest vent was 50 degrees on my instant read thermometer.

by:

I went from a Coleman Mach 3 to an advent. Wasn’t sure where to mount the Coleman box, figured it out. The 4 bolts for the advent didn’t match the advent, drilled new holes and it was done. I blame some of it on myself, I don’t read directions and my rv was 150 degrees when I did it.

by:

It was great dealing with etrailer. I got all that I ordered in the time specified and got great help when I called for tech assistance

by:

The harness fit exactly the application needed. Beatrice was so helpful and we talked the whole remove and replacement through to ensure I had the right
Parts.

by:

Fast shipping. Very easy to install, instruction are very easy to follow. Works as advertised. Will buy from etrailer again.

by:

Product worked as designed. Instructions are written for experienced RV repair persons.

by:

Worked just fine for my new air conditioner !

by:

5 star review for the adapter kit itself, seems to be high quality components. Ultimately it wasn't what I needed for my very old and worn labeled Coleman-Mach unit I replaced. Ended up doing new wiring from scratch. If this kit works for you, I highly recommend it.

by:

by:

Was so glad this product existed!! It's perfect plugged right up. Arrived early. Great product and transaction.

by:

Etrailer made it easy by listing the air-conditioners that would fit my rv. They also listed the parts that I would need in addition to the air-conditioner. Their videos helped me install it.
The air-contioner was easy to install. It works very well and is about the same noise level as the Coleman Mach 8 low profile that it replaced.

by:

Just didn't work for my older (2007) Coleman unit.

by:

Quick and professional. Thanks much

by:

Absolutely satisfied. Worked great and cold AC blowing now. Great product, price, service info over phone, delivered as promised. A big thank you.

by:

Super fast shipping. Thank you so much !!

Lance sold this along with the new ac (not a coleman). Wasn't needed. It will probably cost more to return it than it originally cost.

  • Will An Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System Replace A Dometic Brisk Air 2 RV Air Conditioner System
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV94FR is a complete system so, yes, it will be able to replace your Dometic system. If you're only wanting to replace the rooftop unit and still maintain use of the air distribution box and thermostat then you'll want the # ACM135 instead. If this is the route you take you'll want to remove the plenum on your air distribution box to take a look at the wiring and see what style connector you have on the wire harness that runs from the rooftop...

  • Replacement AC Condenser Units For A Dometic Brisk II 15,000 BTU System
Hi John, So we do offer plug-and-play replacements for your Dometic unit, but the options we offer require that you have the same branded controller to plug in a heat strip. This means you would need to replace the entire system in order to have a heat strip or reach out to Dometic for a compatible replacement. If you're fine with losing the heat pump then the next step is remove the cover for the air distribution box and look for the wire harness that connects the rooftop condenser...

  • Decibel Level Of The Advent Air 15K RV Air Conditioner Units
The Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150B has a 76 decibel level, which is comparable to a vacuum cleaner. Before purchasing replacements you'll want to check if your current unit has a 6-pin or 9-pin wire harness connector. If it's a 6-pin then you'll be fine, but if it's a 9-pin you'll also need an adapter # ACCOLKIT.

  • Replacing A Dometic Duo-Therm 59516.331 Condenser Unit With An Advent Air 15K BTU Replacement Unit
Hi Zach, Yes, you can swap out your Dometic rooftop condenser unit with the Advent Air # ACM150. You'll just need to remove the cover to your air distribution box so that you can get to the mounting bolts and wiring. You'll want to find the harness that drops down from the condenser and plugs into the controller for the system. Dometic sometimes hides the controller in the condenser, if this is the case for you then you'll have to take it apart to find it. Once you find the harness you'll...

  • Direct Replacement RV AC Unit Solution for KZ Durango with Coleman Mach 8333B676
Based on the part number you mentioned that would indicate you have a Coleman Mach RV AC unit so for a direct replacement AC unit solution you would want the Advent Air unit part # ACM135B that you mentioned as well as the Coleman adapter kit part # ACCOLKIT which allows it to plug right into the wiring you have on your RV in place of your current AC which will give you ability to use your current controls.

  • Replacement Options To Consider When Replacing Your RV's Air Conditioner System
Well there are two routes you can take when replacing the AC unit: Route 1: You replace just the rooftop (condenser) unit and keep the same air distribution box and thermostat. Route 2: You replace the entire system (condenser unit, air distribution box, and thermostat). Most people choose route 1 and just keep their thermostat, since most of the time it's still functioning properly but the condenser unit has failed. Route 2 is typical for people who have an issue with their thermostat...
