These 60" long Thule SquareBar Evo crossbars are built from galvanized steel to handle serious weight—up to 220 lbs, as long as you stay within your vehicle’s roof load limit. The solid construction gives you the confidence to haul kayaks, canoes, or a fully packed cargo box without worrying about flex or sag. The steel bars are coated in a durable polymer that adds extra grip for your gear and helps prevent corrosion over years of use.
The square crossbar design is made for clamp-on accessories, so you can easily mount carriers and attachments you already own. Whether it’s a kayak cradle, ski rack, or rooftop cargo box, the square shape gives your gear a secure hold. No complex channels or adapters—just straightforward compatibility that makes it simple to get on the road faster.
The polymer coating on each bar isn’t just about looks—it protects the steel underneath from the elements and adds friction that helps keep your cargo from slipping. Rain, sun, and years of travel won’t rust these bars out. That added layer of defense keeps your setup dependable no matter the destination.
You can add Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) to secure the rack to your roof when you leave your vehicle parked. It’s an easy way to deter theft and keep your setup safe at campsites, trailheads, or hotel lots. Once locked, your SquareBar Evo stays right where you left it until the next trip.
The included Rapid Gutter feet and fit kit let the rack attach directly to your vehicle’s rain gutters. The design provides a solid base without extra drilling or complicated tools. Once in place, it feels sturdy and integrated—ready for daily use or long-haul adventures alike.
Ratings & Reviews
Good quality and durable; seem made from strong materials.
Still working on this project but no wind noise going down the highway
Exactly what I needed, been using for 1 year now. No issues!
Good service, though sending through PO adds at least a day to the delivery time. Also, I guess my son (Scott) has bought stuff from you, as the address was used to identify him as the recipient, not me (Randy/Randolph)
The bars are as advertised, but arrived 10 full days after you indicated, possibly a post office problem. But, the package only contained one of the 4 end caps for the bars. Please send the other three.
Very fast delivery. The box in which the bars were shipped was opened on one end. Two of the end caps were missing. Also, I don't know if there are supposed to be a plastic filler strip for the bottom slots in the bars. If there is, I didn't receive those either. Since the towers have 4 end caps in that box, I was not concerned about the two missing from the bars.
Again, very good company do deal with and customer service is 5 star
Customer service was excellent.
Old style but functional. Wanted to be able to use stops for securing long ladder, framing or trim on occasion and these seemed to be sturdy option. They’re are noisy so adding fairing recommended
WAY TOO MUCH WIND NOISE. I do not recommend this product, Could not return it since it was installed. Need to try the wind spoiler to see if it reduces noise.
Incredible customer service. Greg was amazing in getting my roof shipped to me. I am 65 and this is the best customer service I have ever had. THANK YOU.
I have ordered quite a bit from Etrailer in the past, but this will be my last order. First, I ordered the Thule Gutter system and specifically ask if the old style square bars would fit the gutter system….answer was yes. In fact, it did not. Then had to order the Evo Square bars. They only come in 60”. Most of my orders come in within three days this order took 10 days, it was sent by snail mail. It arrived and the four end caps were not there and one of the bars had a bend in it. Had to reorder. These EVO bars suck. There is a slot you have to massage to get the bar into, very hard to adjust. Super disappointed in the product from Thule and the shipping service from etrailer. Hate to do it, back to [online stores] etc.
delivered fri. not thurs. as you said [ not a biggy] no doorbell ring [ 59 inches [not 60] nice that they come with end caps be nice if indicated they are inside the bar bar and caps are well constructed.
The product was great it fit perfectly and it was everything that etrailer said it would be and fit our car
Great product, fast shipping
I like this style of roof rack bars!
The shipping was fast! The instructions were very clear and the items were all very easy to install! Overall - this was a fantastic buying experience from etrailer.
Excellent and easy to attach to the crossbars that also purchased.
We called for advice about Thule parts to fit some older Thule components & the etrailer rep, Stacey, was terrific. She explained exactly what we needed & emailed with contact info if we had questions. Great price, free fast shipping. E-trailer is the best source we have used.
The Squarebar Crossbars work perfectly on my Toyota Rav 4 Adventure.
Beware of purchases from Etrailer...they offer no returns on opened products. So might say well you could just use and return it...true, but in this case the wind noise is horrific on my Jeep Wrangler and made a two hour ride nearly unbearable. The Thule cross bars are way too loud. They offer no aerodynamics whatsoever.
Order from this company for years. Customer service remarkable and products are amazing
It's a simple item just bars. They arrived bent. but not so bad to go through the hassle to return them.
I went with this Rola Vortex Cargo Rack with extension for its size and multiple tie down points. I Paired it with the Thule 5 inch rapid gutter feet with square bars because:
To remove the freedom panels.
Square bars are stronger than Aero type bars.
Adjustability of fitment as the roof of the Jeep narrows toward the rear.
When loaded for camping, I want to maintain rearward vision.
Finally, the system met my load requirements. I had weighed the gear that will go onto the rack. And I am at OME specs.
I did not want to use the gutter of the freedom panels to carry weight. Since the panels are removable, it seemed to be a potential weak point structurally.
NOTES:
Because this Rola rack comes in sections, I do not recommend it for “Overlanding”.
And because it comes in sections, some weather proofing is needed. I coated the cargo rack guides with an anti seize grease. The bolts of the cargo clamps should be weather proofed as well.
Over time, the screws will need to be replaced. They will rust.
CONCLUSION
Overall I am happy with this set up. Should work well for general camping and hold up to the easier off road trails. If your plans are to Overland for weeks at a time in all weather conditions on moderate to difficult trails having off camber conditions, then this rack may be problematic over time. And may cause damage to the roof top.
Had to return these cause they wouldn’t fit on the Prologue at all, but the service is good and e-trailer is accepting them back
