MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 100473-12

  • Hoses
  • Pigtail Hoses
  • 1/4 Inch - Male NPT
  • Type 1 - Female
  • MB Sturgis

Pigtail makes the connection from the propane tanks on your trailer to the propane regulator. Also used to connect tanks to a high-pressure regulator to carry gas to a 2-stage regulator. Check valve prevents hazardous backflow leakage.

Features:

  • Propane pigtail connects your propane cylinder to a regulator
    • Used for single or dual tank setups on the front of your travel trailer
    • Also used to connect a remote tank to a high-pressure regulator
  • Female Type 1 fitting connects to the valve on your propane cylinder
  • Male NPT connects to a propane regulator
  • Built-in bypass mode shuts gas off when flow reaches maximum capacity for safety
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow safety device limits gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable thermoplastic hose and brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • Rated for high pressure and high flow rate to handle unregulated propane
    • UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Temperature range: -40 F to 140 F
  • Hose dimensions: 12" long x 1/4" inner diameter
  • Hose fittings:
    • Female Type 1
    • 1/4" Male NPT
  • Maximum pressure rating: 350 psi
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This propane hose is ideal for travel trailers with a split-tank system. This kind of system features 1 cylinder on the driver's side and 1 cylinder on the passenger's side of your trailer. This hose connects the cylinder on the passenger's side to a high-pressure regulator. An additional hose (sold separately) will then carry the propane from the high-pressure regulator to the 2-stage regulator on the driver's side of your trailer.

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO FIND AN AMERICAN PART MADE WITH HIGH QUALITY TRUE RUBBER HOSE AND QUALITY CLAMPS WITH A PERFECT TANK FITTING. ETRAILER OBTAINED THIS FOR ME(AFTER A LITTLE WAIT) AND I WAS SO HAPPY TO RECEIVE IT. THANK YOU FOR THE QUALITY EQUIPMENT, I HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM YOUR COMPANY.

by:

This is what you want. Don't buy the cheap chinese crap. I did to replace original USA made pigtails (15 years old) and after losing a couple of tanks of propane, figured out they were slowly leaking. Cheap pigtails were only a couple of years old too. Don't let the fancy stainless steel braiding fool you like it did me.

by:

Both Propane pigtails fit perfectly with no leaks

by:

I purchased these to update my Lp supply system because mine were hardened and fairly old. They looked really good and fit perfect. We replaced the hoses and went on about testing them and found them to be leaking at both ends. The coupler and the brass fitting was fine, it was the hose connections at the crimp. Not just one of them but both were leaking, and surprisingly both hoses. We were using our camper at the time so I had to put the old ones back on. I got sick and never sent them back. This is only the second time out of all the parts I've purchased from etrailer that had failed, so I wasn't overly upset about. Good looking hoses, just bad crimps. Thankfully I bubble checked them and didn't just put them on and walk off. If I would have sent them back I'm sure etrailer would have replaced them, I just never did. I will still continue to buy my parts from etrailer, stuff happens no fault of them.

by:

First one leaked jyst behind the type-1 connector at the hose. I was promptly sent another that didn't leak. Quality customer service and a good product.

by:

Great service. Quick answers to my questions and part was ordered and received quickly and correctly. Thank you!

by:

This propane hose has already far outlived the original factory one, and recently survived a 14,000 mile cross country trip to Alaska and thru Canada on some extremely rough and dusty roads.

by:

A item that I feel should be replaced on a routine basis

by:

I installed on a travel trailer. It hasn't been used yet on a camping trip but it was easy to install. I did a soapy water check on it and it didn't leak.

by:

My previous hose is 1'. When I ordered this one it was 2 inches shorter. I'll be needing to return it. Not sure if I missed that but it might be something to consider calling out somewhere.

by:

Last week this propane hose started leaking.
So I'm going to buy a new one .
I was hoping it would of lasted longer than this.

Everything worked great. Fixed my propane line leak (regulator leaked)

by:

The hose we ordered fit perfectly and arrived in a timely manner. It's easy to order parts from etrailer.com

by:

I received them very quickly.well made good fit no leaks

by:

Arrived as described. Attached photo shows set up prior to mounting regulator.

Made in USA! Thank you! I tried to by local, still waiting for a call back 2 1/2 weeks later...etrailer will be my first stop for my next RV need!

by:

Hello,

Thank you for a no worries
order, my delivery was on time and all it’s good..

by:

I used these as replacements for two older style hoses on my RV tanks. The old ones required the use of a wrench to remove them from the tank. It was an easy conversion that took less than 15 minutes.
On the connection to the regulator, I used yellow teflon gas tape on the threads as a precautionary measure. Still don't know if that was necessary, but didn't want to take a chance they might leak. So far, so good, no leaks at the connections.
They are reasonably priced good quality hoses. With the older hoses it was a pain to switch out empty tank for a full one. Eventually it got so difficult to get the hose thread started in the propane tank that I stripped one of them out, which is why I ordered new hoses from etrailer.
Tank swap outs are now a breeze, and no tools required! Wished I had done this years ago.
Standard shipment from etrailer was adequate and reasonably priced.

Still working good. Small purchase that has made life easier.

by:

Order was received on time as stated. Items were stocked.

by:

High quality made in USA propane pigtails. Note that these are 1/4 inch pipe thread ends for the older auto switching regulator on my 2007 Airstream International. The more common 1/8 inch reverse flare fitting will not fit mine. The 1/4 inch pipe thread pigtails are a little harder to find, and are able to flow more propane. I have a propane powered generator that thes work very well with.

Still solid, no leaks! Well made product.

by:

Order two of these to replace failed units on our trailer. Shopped on Amazon and saw tons of comments about people getting units that failed and leaked out of the box. Both of these look like high quality hose crimps and two weekends of use without any issues. Shipping was super quick and good communication. Would order from etrailer again.

Bought two of these to replace the originals that came from the factory. One year in and no problems. Seems higher quality then the originals.

by:

Didn't last a year just bought another brand from etrailer couple months ago. Started leaking from the hose connection

by:

Very well made compared to the O.E. hoses, which only lasted 4 years under VERY little use. You can really see the difference, especially in the end crimp. The O.E. hose had a cheap , sharp, thin ferrule which bit into the hose at the connection, eventually failing. These have good, strong steel circumferential swedge fittings that look like the manufacturer takes pride in their work. The price was VERY fair and the delivery time was a couple of days. Thanks eTrailer!

  • Is There a Type 1 Propane Pigtail with 1/2" FIF on the Output Side
I do have an option for you but most if not all propane pigtails with type 1 fittings are going to have either a 1/4" MPT or 1/4" MIF fittings on the other side like the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail part # 100473-12. That said, you can adapt the 1/4" MPT or 1/4" MIF to a 1/2" FIF with the correct fitting found at your local home supply stores.

  • Hoses and Regulators Needed to Add Dual Tank Propane Setup to Trailer
I attached a picture that shows what the typical dual tank setup looks like with the accessories needed labeled. First thing you need is pig tails to go from the tanks to the regulator like the part # 100473-12. Then for a dual tank regulator with automatic changeover we have the part # 37207-30395 that each of the pigtails would connect to. Then for a 12 foot long extension hose that would plug into outlet of the regulator you'd want the part # 100040-144-MBS. From there you'd connect...

  • Dual Propane Regulator Replacement for Older Trailer
It looks like what you have there are dual propane tanks, so a dual propane regulator will be needed. The age of the trailer doesn't matter so long as the fittings on the tanks are current. For hoses you can use the 12 inch MB Sturgis Propane Hose Assembly - RV Type 1 w/ Back Check x 1/4" MPT # 100473-12. To mount this regulator if needed, you can use the U-Post RV LP Gas Regulator...

  • Connecting Kenmore LP Dryer to Propane Tank on RV
Thanks for the picture of the LP requirements of your dryer. It uses a standard 10 water column propane pressure rating so the regulator part # 108220 that you referenced is a good start since that is what this is designed for as well. You'll need a pigtail from the tank to the regulator like with the part # 100473-12 which is 12 inches long and then a hose to go from the regulator to the dryer. For a 10 foot hose you'd then want the part # 100202 and that would be all you'd need.

The hose and fittings sizes are standardized for RV's. Therefore, what you have is going to be a type 1 to either a 1/4" NPT or 1/4" Male Inverter Flare. If you have the former I recommend part # 100473-12 or part # 37207-30715 if you have the latter. That said, I get why you're confused as these fittings don't actually mic out to 1/4", they will measure larger but that does not correlate to their nominal size which would be the same for measuring any sort of NPT fitting.
