The Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack w/ Tonneau Cover Adapters gives you a strong mid-cab height rack that sits 13" above the bed rails—just the right height to keep gear above the bed but still easy to reach. With a 300-lb on-road and 180-lb off-road weight capacity, it’s built for hauling kayaks, tents, or lumber without blocking your view or access to the bed. You get a solid setup for everyday hauling or backcountry trips.
This rack is built to work with popular retractable tonneau covers, including Retrax XR, Pace Edwards UltraGroove, and Ford Embark LS. The included adapters slide right into the T-slots of your tonneau cover’s side rails, letting you mount the rack without drilling and still enjoy full cover functionality. It’s a clean, weather-tight setup that lets you haul overhead gear while keeping everything else protected under the cover.
The OutPost HD is made of sturdy aluminum with a black powder coat finish that’s both durable and rustproof. It’s been tested to meet and exceed ISO requirements, so it can handle rough terrain, quick stops, and off-road conditions without flexing or corrosion. This setup holds up to real-world abuse, whether you’re running gravel roads or hauling gear year-round.
Both the uprights and 68" crossbars have T-slots inside and out for mounting accessories like bike racks, kayak carriers, load stops, or off-road lights. Built-in tie-down points make it easy to secure whatever you’re carrying. You can even add SideBar rails (sold separately) for more mounting space. Rubberized strips in the crossbars cut down on wind noise and drag for a quieter ride.
With Yakima’s QuickChange system, you can install or remove the rack in minutes. The tonneau adapters slide into the cover’s tracks, and BedGrip clamps secure the uprights to the bed rails—no drilling required. Etched measurement marks on the bars help center the rack fast, and the Same Key System (SKS) lock cores keep the uprights locked in place. It’s a solid, easy-to-use system designed for quick setup and removal whenever you need the bed open.

Rack system works very good. Easy to take off and on my F150. Wish it was more adjustable to lower the system a few inches. Also because of the bed formation cannot place anywhere on the bed. Overall it is stable and rides well
The products durability is great. Find the right height for my truck was more challenging. I wish I had not gotten this particular product. Doesn’t go above my truck bed cab.

Received complete rack with NO parts missing. The Outpost HD rack fit my ‘17 Tacoma great with no installation issues.

I think the bottle opener feature advertised should work! I emailed about that shortly after installing the product, even sending photos, and no one from your company every reached back out to me to resolve the issue.
Great rack system for tonneau cover with rail system. Easy install and very well made, the only down side is when you order the system for the tonneau cover you also get all the hardware for non tonneau cover trucks. Excessive amount of expensive hardware you’ll never use with your tonneau cover installed
After researching many truck racks I decided to purchase this one. The staff at etrailer were very helpful and friendly . The product arrived on schedule with no problems. The installation was fairly easy straightforward. I must say that I made the right decision in choosing this product as the quality is very good. Once I got it installed it was rock solid. The following week I made a 600 plus miles trip to the mountains with a Thule cargo box installed on it and had zero problems. I would check it whenever I stopped to make sure it was still secure and it remained rock solid with no issues. I am very satisfied with this Yakima rack and would highly recommended it. I also recommend etrailer for doing business with. They followed up with me on my purchase to see if I was satisfied or had any problems. I will do business with them again!
