Recommended Rack System For A Diamondback HD Tonneau cover On A Ford F-250

Published 12/02/2024

Question:

I have an F250 with a Diamondback HD bed cover. Im looking for a system that I can bolt onto the diamondback HD cover which allows me to attach either bike racks or bars and attachments for carrying kayaks not necessarily at the same time. any recommendations would be welcomed. thanks in advance.

Hey Jim,

I actually lucked out and we had a Gladiator in the shop today with the exact setup that you're looking for so I have some pictures to go along with this recommendation. This person cut down some Yakima HD Tracks # Y64MR to foot long lengths and drilled through the cover to clamp the tracks down to the cover using the included hardware.

These would only come with four end caps and you'll need eight if you're going to do the same. Additional endcaps can be purchased with part # Y74TJ. You'll also want to use some silicone or RTV sealant at each mounting hole to prevent any water from getting inside the bed.

From there you can mount a Yakima OverHaul HD # Y01151-5855 or OutPost HD # Y01152-5855 ladder rack with tonneau cover adapters to fit the Tracks. The OverHaul HD has an adjustable height and the OutPost has a fixed height (13") so the OverHaul is likely going to be the better option since you're also wanting to haul kayaks.

The Tracks would also allow you to mount a variety of other t-slot mounted accessories so they can give you quite a bit of versatility for your setup.

Thanks. That looks like it could work for me as well. I’ll have a look and get a complete list of materials together for my order. Thanks for the pics and the prompt reply!
