If you're lifting a heavy load, you want to keep yourself and your equipment safe. The built-in handbrake will lock the lever so the load stays in place.
The slotted screw holes on the winch give you lots of leeway for where and how you can mount it. It's easy to replace your old hand winch, even if it's from a different brand like Fulton or Dutton-Lainson.
This steel winch is zinc plated to prevent rust and corrosion. Salt-spray tested to 600 hours, it will have no problem handling water, whether that's on a boat trailer or out in the rain.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at the Curt Hand-Crank Winch With a Built-In Handbrake. So, folks, if you need to manually lift or hoist equipment, especially something like a light lifting tower, this gives you a mechanical advantage moving that load without relying entirely on your own strength. Now, this winch features a 1,500-pound capacity and uses what's called a five-to-one gear ratio. So, as you turn the handle, the gear inside of here is actually gonna make it easier to move a heavy load in a controlled way.
Now, I just have this loosely fitted on here. I am gonna flip it on its side, so you can hear it cranking. (hand-crank whirring) And then if you stop, it has an automatic brake on there that's going to break automatically. So, that's very nice. And then when you want your lower back down, you just simply rewind it gear or unwind it with your handle.
And then when you wanna go forward again, (hand-crank whirring) you simply go back forward. So, it's really easy to use forward or reverse. As you can see right here, this is where the cable would get tied down. There's no cable included that's sold separately. And depending on the length and the strength you need, you can pick out one that suits your needs over at etrailer.
Now, it's kind of hard to see here because they do a nice job of covering it, but you do have internal gears and stuff. There's a bush in there. Everything's greased, so that's gonna help those gears operate smoothly. It's also gonna be a great option for you whenever you need to worry about maintenance and those kind of things. On the bottom side here, there's no mining hardware included.
Just reuse your old hardware if you already have it. If not, you can pick some up locally at a hardware store or here at etrailer as well. You do have these elongated holes, and that's gonna make this fit a lot of different footprints out there. Again, if you're replacing it with one that was there before, this should give you a lot of options as far as being able to move it around to line up the holes with something that was there already. Steel construction with the nice zinc plating, so that's gonna make it nice and corrosion resistant, and it has been salt-spray tested for 600 hours.
