The Escapee lets you carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. It has padded, ratcheting hooks and long wheel cradles with sliding, ratcheting straps so you can carry 2 bikes regardless of size, frame design, or suspension or brake style. The heavy-duty construction is designed to carry E-bikes up to 60 lbs. It has a low loading height that reduces the strain of mounting your bikes for transport. It also has a locking system that secures your bikes to the rack and the rack to your hitch.

Pivoting Upright Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

Ratcheting hooks on the upright arms hold 2 bikes of varying sizes firmly by the front wheels with no frame contact. The padded hooks won't scratch or scuff your bike, and built-in keyed locks let you secure the bikes to the rack. You can fold down the arms when no bikes are on the rack for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Long Wheel Cradles with Sliding, Ratcheting Straps

Adjustable Wheel Trays

Extra-long cradles with ratcheting straps secure your bikes' rear wheels to the rack. The straps slide along the cradles to accommodate bikes of different lengths.

Locking System

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

There is an integrated lock in each ratcheting hook that lets you secure your bikes to the rack.

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

The locking, threaded hitch pin secures the rack to your hitch receiver, and it also serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate rattling in the receiver.

Video Transcript for Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack Review

Haydn: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Escapee Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: S64693.This RV-approved bike rack is perfect for your vehicles, campers, fifth wheels and, of course, RVs. It's heavy-duty design means it can stand up to extra stress typically found at the rear of RVs. Its versatile design is going to allow it to carry most bikes included eBikes. However, it is not fat-bike compatible. It holds your bikes with zero frame contact, making it great for carbon-fiber bikes. It features a ratcheting wheel hook to secure our front tire into our front wheel cradle. Here in the back, we've got an adjustable wheel strap to secure our rear tire. There's no need for a cable lock.

The ratcheting hooks lock so your bikes can't be removed. The anti-rattle bolt also features a lock so your bike rack can't be removed. We've gone ahead and removed the bikes so we can take a closer look. When not in use, the ratcheting hooks fold flat. The wheel cradles are going to work with road bike tires and mountain bike tires up to three inches wide. We have the same setup on the rear cradle. Here's a few measurements that's going to help you decide if it's going to be a right fit for you.

From the center of the hitch-pin hole to the closest part of the rack is 10 inches. From the center of the hitch-pin hole to the end of the rack is about 36 inches. It's a solid-steel construction with a silver powder-coat finish to resist rust and corrosion. It also has a 60-pound-per-bike weight capacity. The Swagman Escapee features a limited lifetime warranty. We've brought Mike in that works a lot with our customers. Mike what can you tell me about the Swagman Escapee Mike: Well, Haydn, I actually took quite a bit of notes on this particular bike rack and what I found out from our customers is ...

especially those with RVs, they're looking for something that has a higher weight capacity and that can carry eBikes. More and more people are starting to go to eBikes and are looking for racks that are going to work with their RV. The Escapee is one that they're very interested in.Now, what are customers have found out about this rack is that it is easy to assemble. It's easy to use. It's really simple.

One of the downsides though, it doesn't fold up. There's a reason for that on RV bike racks, the folding mechanism could be a point of weakness. You don't want one that folds up. That's a good thing actually for RV owners. Haydn: Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now this is going to be for two-inch-by-two-inch receivers only. Let's go ahead and load it up.We'll go ahead and feed it into our receiver tube. We'll line up our pin holes. Then we'll take our included anti-rattle bolt and lock, we'll start threading that through. Once you get it hand tight, we can take a wrench or socket and tighten it the rest of the way down. Now you will have to provide your own. The size is 23 millimeter. Then on the other side, we can just take our lock, clip it on in place, remove our keys and we're all set.To load up our bikes, we'll want to fold our arms and undo our rear wheel strap. Now it's recommended that you load up the heaviest bike first. For us, it's going to be our mountain bike. We'll rest our front wheel into the front-wheel cradle and then set the rear wheel down in place. Then we can take our wheel hook, we'll raise it up until it comes in front of our shocks or our brakes, whatever comes first. We'll ratchet it down. Once it makes contact, we'll give it a good push and then we can move on to the rear. Then here at the rear, we'll adjust our strap to where it's center with our wheel. Run our strap through, pull it down nice and tight. With our second bike loaded up, we can go ahead and lock up our ratcheting arms. Then we can head out on our test course and see how it performs. Here on our test course, let's first go into our slalom. This is going to show side-to-side action, such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our solid speed bumps. This is going to show an up-and-down action, such as pulling in and out of a driveway or out of a parking lot. Then, finally, onto our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over potholes or uneven pavement. That's going to complete our look at the Swagman Escapee Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: S64693.

Hands down, the best RV bike rack I have found, I checked out KUAT and Thule. The materials are high level steel and the hardware matches the durability of the rack. This isn't a light weight rack, it will no doubt stand up to the beating a rack takes on the rear of an RV. Can't wait to install it on the back of my fifth wheel. 730213

- S64693

Needed a heavy duty bike rack capable of carrying an e-bike on the back of my fifth wheel. This one fits the bill. It is strong and sturdy. It was easy to assemble. With the e-bike securely locked down, there is no wobble. 734718

- S64693

easy to put together. only problem was lining the platform up with the male and female connection. I had to hold together and my wife had to tap it down with a maul hammer. 1 person would not been able to put it together by themselves. First product that I ordered that all the parts were in the box when it arrived on 4/19/18. we have 2 ebikes and cant wait to take them on our trip. Thanks for making such a great bike rack 499157

- S64693

Easy assembly. Nice quality bike rack. It is much heavier than the bike racks for SUV's and cars. I bought the Escapee for my 5th wheel and so glad that I did. It held my mountain bikes while traveling with ease. It is the bike rack you need if you are hauling bikes behind your camper. Thanks so much Swagman! 429229

The Swagman Eacapee bike rack works great! Best bike rack I have seen for 5th wheel campers or any camper. Super easy to put on camper and super easy to load bikes and it keeps bike very secure while traveling.

This is my second Swagman bike rack and love it! I made this purchase to carry Bikes on long trips! Although I have not hit the road yet I did put it together without much effort and put it on my RV just to “see” how everything fit... I put the 2 bikes on too...Perfect!! It’s just very secure and easy to use! Easy to put together as well! This is perfect for this 65 year old woman! Thank you etrailer! 479156

It has been a year owning and using the Swagman Bike rack. The purchase was for my RV and it is PERFECT! We are in the road 4-5 months a year and the bike rack travels easily and I love how easy it is to put the two bikes on and off the RV anytime. In fact I usually store the bikes on the rack because it’s much better than trying to keep the bikes upright on the ground! And the rack after all these miles and all kinds of weather still looks and operates like it’s new!! I highly recommend this bike rack!

nice /sturdy/ 2-bike rack for the back of my trailer! holds odd frame bikes with easy, like my wife's 'comfort bike' step-through. 472385

- S64693

Product well made. Went together easily. Haven't used yet but will soon be departing on a 4000 mile trip with it attached to the rear of our 36' 5th wheel which should give a good test of it's durability and functionality. Only issue was box shipped in was damaged enroute. Some bolts, nuts, washers lost. Called etrailer and they shipped new hardware immediately. GREAT SERVICE. 683969

I am pleased with this bike rack for use on the back of my RV trailer. It is very solidly built. It has held the bikes in place for thousands of miles so far. I was missing a small part when it arrived but etrailer was very helpful getting me what I needed. The only reason I am holding back on giving it 5 stars is that in the description it says "hold your bikes by the wheels with no frame contact", that is not really the case. The arms DO come in contact with the forks of the bikes. In fact this rack rubbed holes clear through the paint on both bikes, the very first trip. 604439

- S64693

Great rack and easy assembly. Glad to know this one is rv rated while the hollywood racks are not due to metal fatigue and racks ending up on the road. Bikes load easy and no frame contact. Trying it out on the truck before putting it on the back of our fifth wheel. Moves bikes from a rack in a hitch on the front of the truck. Will update when on the rv. 504026

eTrailer.com was very easy to use. I ordered several items but one was on back order. I received a call from a real person who told me the item was back ordered and the date they would have it and ship it to me AND that's what they did. Great service I will use them again. 486999

The bike rack has worked great for us on the back of our Reflection 303 and its been used on the back of our SUV. Its super solid and the bikes are held tight on the rack. Id buy this again.

Top of line product, perfect for the 5th wheel a true rv rated bike rack. Simple safe secure product, only 10 screws and bolts to put together. Everyone has it for sale, but not etrailer price or best of all the great knowledge of products or outstanding customer service all the way through your order. From now on I'm going straight to etrailer first for all my orders they have never ever let me down on pricing shipping and their customer service is simply the best what great employees they have the best bar none///// Thank you again for the great service Katie and Jennifer your the best///// 475253

By far the best and easiest bike rake made for rvs bar none. Very knowledgeable employees about their products and bent over backwards to ship it to me while being a winter Texan. If you haul bikes on a rv or camper you best be sure its rv rated or your hitch can break and you will be dragging them down the highway. Best prices but best of all best service

Bought the Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack - Wheel Mount. Bikes are getting pricey and the wheel mount looked like a great way to go to protect the bikes. The Swagman Escapee has a pretty high weight rating per bike and seems to be made for EBikes in particular. We have Haibike SDURO HardSeven SLs. They come it at 49.3#’s with battery. As always, ETrailer is a great vendor, multiple purchases over the years, always a fair price and a good product with speedy shipping. Their website is very informative and customer service rocks. The packaging is good, even the dog approved. Came mostly assembled. I used thread sealer on the bits. Would be nice if the hardware came pre-dipped. Everything goes together smoothly with good tolerances to avoid the slop. All the holes line up. It is a big rack once assembled. So, that may be an issue for storage? A tip: The arms can fold down towards the wheel well, if you are driving without bikes, use the straps to hold the arm and not lose the straps. A word of warning. Wheel mount systems seem to do great on the road / highway. Etrailers has various videos on their “test” track that show what I mean. Various mount systems hold the bikes more securely than others. This application is for the road only for us. Maybe gravel, but not designed for, or in our case, to be used during off road jaunts. So, what do I think? Well, I may mount a third brake light to the rear of the Swagman Escapee hitch rack. Simple pigtail plug into trailer outlet plug. The Swagman Escapee sticks out a bit from the rear and I don’t want to get rear ended. Took it out on a 90 mile highway trip and no issues. I would say the Swagman Escapee is a good product, a fair price, and if the Swagman Escapee fits your needs, buy it. I am pleased; I suspect you will be too. 349306

- S64693

The Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Carrier arrived with minimal damage to the box from shipping, did have a few holes punched thru from the components inside. The assembly process was simple, Swagman makes it very easy to assemble the way its constructed. This is a very well made Carrier and should last a very long time. I did figure out with this carrier if you just wanted to fold in up to minimize space ONLY WHILE PARKED you could remove one of the 3/4 bolts on the top bar and loosen the end one just enough for the bar to pivot with that loosened bolt it will fold up. I would only do this to save space while parked only. I would never recommend doing this while driving on the roadway. I've provided some pictures of the Carrier in use with a mountain bike loaded and one with it folded up for added space. All in all this is a fantastic carrier and Etrailer.com comes highly recommended. 549056

This Swagman Bike Rack is still working perfectly for our needs both on the back of our truck and the rear of our fifth wheel. I couldn’t be happier and still HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS bike rack.

E-Trailer Customer Service is excellent. Ashley and George were so helpful with a number of question. This system has worked extremely well on 2011 Thor Hurricane. I offers enough distance so the bikes don't touch. Very solid, with great attachment to receiver. It met all my expectations. 523874

- S64693

Fast , knowledgeable sales support. Order was shipped quickly and arrived ahead of schedule. Rack is certainly heavy duty. Had to use a grinder to clean up some welding slag before two of the pieces would fit together but other than that it assembled quickly. Unfortunately, this rack will not allow the rear doors of a Sprinter van to open when the rack is mounted. I sorta suspected that would be the case and we'll just have to deal with it. 474465

So far we have had no issues and are pleased with the purchase. We bought it because we specifically needed a rugged hitch for use with our RV. It has served us well. Well be putting it to good use again this season.

- S64693

It is very easy to get bikes off and on. The only thing that I don’t like is how heavy it is. It is hard for me to put on and take off my car. Ten pounds lighter would have been nice! 774975

- S64693

Very solid hitch rack for electric bike s. 768293

- S64693

Shipping was on time, boxing was secure, all parts for assembly were in place, assembly was quick and easy. Most of all the item (rear bike rack) was built to perfection. It was everything they said it would be. Thank you ! 757397

- S64693

I purchased the Swagman Escapee to transport 2 hybrid bikes on my motorhome. Everything fit well and it was easy to put together. It is a heavy beast, but that is what is needed for an RV. Unfortunately, the spare tire mounted on the back was too close and prevented the arm from swinging past it. I used an 8" hitch extender and a Roadmaster anti rattle ring and now the bikes fit fine and there is no play in the receiver. I would have given 5 stars if there was some adjustability (right & left) on the plastic wheel holders. When both bikes are on the rack the handlebars from one bike hit the seat on the other bike. Since I have a quick release on the seat post, I simply lowered the seat to solve the problem. Overall, It is a very strong solid, easy to use rack and I would definitely buy again. 756210

- S64693

While researching a bike rack that would support the weight of 2 electric bikes, I found several I liked on etrailer.com, but many were not recommended to be mounted on the back of a travel trailer. The ones that were recommended for use with campers were about a $100 more, and I couldn't understand why. When I called two of the manufacturers, they warned. me that the sway of the trailer puts more stress on the hitch. One manufacturer's rep asked me to buy a different brand if I decided to ignore the warning etrailer provided. After talking to the factory reps, I bought the Swagman Escape, and I'm very glad I did. The rack doesn't move at all thanks to the special threaded hitch pin, wheel cups, wheel straps, and locking upright supports. If I hadn't seen etrailers recommendations for use, I'm sure I would have bought the wrong rack. 749232

- S64693

Love to carry out 2 electric bikes on this track. Have had no issues and highly recommend this track for the back of your RV. 745380

- S64693

Great rack for my 5th wheel. it keeps the bikes where they belong. locked and secure, peace of mind while traveling the worst of roads. 744663

- S64693

Excellent heavy duty bike rack. Super fast shipment 738152

- S64693

After using the Swagman Escape bike rack I can say that finally I have a bike rack that keeps my bikes safe and secure on my fifth wheel. The bikes fit securely on the rack and they don't bounce around and get scraped up like they did with other bike racks that I used. It does exactly what I bought it to do; keep the bikes safe and secure. It is very sturdy and shows no wear and tear after a year's use! The bike rack does have some disadvantages that I'm willing to accept. It is very heavy and not the easiest bike rack to store as it takes up quite a bit of space. If you want a bike rack that is built for using on the back of an RV, I highly recommend this one! 732964

  • Will Bike Bag fit Swagman Escapee Bike Rack
The Swagman Horizontal Style 2 Bike Bag # S82006 will fit the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64693 but because the Escapee is a wheel-mounted bike rack it will be more difficult to use than with a frame-mounted bike rack, depending on what type of bikes you have. The reason for that is the extra width of a wheel-mounted rack with the arm sticking out is going to give your less overall width to mount your bikes; when we test fit this bag on a different wheel-mounted bike rack...

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for Rear of Motorhome
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. For starters, bike racks used on the back of a 5th wheel trailer must be rated for this use as they will experience more stress in comparison to a bike rack used on the back of a vehicle. This has to do with the movement associated with the carrier being located father away from the rear axle. This is the highest weight rated bike rack we offer that can be used at the back of a fifth wheel. It will only touch your bikes at the tires too so your step through frame won't matter either.

  • How Much Does Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Rack Weigh
The Swagman Escapee part # S64693 that you referenced weighs 66 lbs. That means you'd have a total of 146 lbs in your hitch which would be 4 lbs under the capacity of it.

  • Can Hitch Mounted Bike Racks be Used on the Back of a Flat Towed Vehicle
That's not surprising. Some bike racks are rated to be used behind a towed vehicle or trailer but not most. Also, it wasn't until recently that a lot of the rack manufacturers started giving a yay or nay on a towed vehicle. Most have taken the stance of saying "no" at this point unless the rack was specifically designed for trailer user. There's more movement the further back you get whether it be on the back of a motorhome, trailer, or towed vehicle. This causes more stress on a hitch...

  • Recommended RV Compatible Bike Rack for Two 60 lb E-bikes with 5 Inch Fat Tires
The Swagman Escapee # S64693 you mentioned is not compatible with 5 inch tires. For a bike rack that is compatible with 5 inch tires, can handle the 120 lbs, and is RV approved I recommend the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" - Tilting - Swinging # RKY10002. This carrier will fit bikes with up to 5 inch wide tires that are up to 60 lbs each. This will be a great fit for your application on your 1999 Holiday Rambler Admiral. This rack comes with both bike and hitch locks.

  • Bike Rack for Electric Bikes on a Fifth Wheel Trailer and 2016 Ram 3500
You'll almost always be looking at heavier racks when you are working with electric bikes, purely becuase of the electric bike's weight. Additionally, you'll have heavier racks because you need to pick one that is recommended for use behind a trailer. This is because of the increased force that the rack experiences due to the movement of the trailer, and lighter duty racks can be shaken apart by these forces. Instead, I recommend the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Rack, part # S64693 and...

  • Is the Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64693 Compatible with a Newmar Bay Star
The Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64693 is rated for use on an RV so it will be compatible with your Newmar Bay Star. As far as the clearance concern, from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier is 15-1/4 inches. You can use this measurement to determine whether or not your bikes will fit. When it comes to the bike weight capacity it can hold up to 2 bikes that weigh 60 lbs each so you don't have any concerns there. It is a wheel mount carrier which...

  • Recommended Platform Bike Rack for an R-Pod 179
While the Kuat, Yakima, and Thule bikes racks are phenomenal options, none of these companies have tested and approved any of their platform racks for use on a travel trailer like your R-Pod 179. I do have a similar solution for you though with the Swagman Escapee # S64693. This bike rack secures bikes by the wheel like the Kuat Sherpa so it keeps your bikes from moving around like you found with your hanging rack, plus it has been tested and approved for the extra movement at the back...

  • Replacement Wheel Straps for Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Rack S64693
Yes, my contact at Swagman confirmed that you can use the Replacement Ratcheting Wheel Strap # SP494 for spares with your Escapee 2 rack # S64693. These are not green like the original straps but these will work fine since they are the same strap just in another color.

  • Measurement to see if Swagman Escapee Allows Tailgate to Open on 2017 Toyota Tacoma
Although we have not tested the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64693 on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma to see if it will allow the tailgate to open; however, this bike rack does measure 14" above its shank at its highest point when its arms are folded down; so you can measure from the top of your hitch to the bottom of your tailgate, and if that measurement is less than 14" it should work for you. I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.

  • Swagman Bike Rack that Can be Used at Rear of Motorhome
For a very similar bike rack that can be used at the rear of a motorhome with a dual hitch adapter we have the Swagman Semi 2.0 part # S64686 which would work well for you. The Escapee part # S64693 that you referenced is not rated for use at the rear of a motorhome where it's rougher so it would not be what you'd want.

  • Best RV Approved Bike Rack for Electric Bikes
Since you have an electric bike with a step-through frame, I recommend using a platform style wheel mount bike rack. However, since the bikes will be carried on the trailer, the rack must be approved for this use. I recommend the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack part # S64693 as long as your bike doesn't have fenders. This is a fixed bike rack which is what makes it approved for use on a trailer. It has a 60 lb per bike weight rating and comes with a threaded anti-rattle hitch lock....

  • Can the Swagman Escapee # S64693 Fit 2 Bikes with Fenders
Wheel mount bike racks, like the Swagman Escapee # S64693, are great because they don't make contact with the frame of your bike, but since your bikes have fenders I don't think this bike rack will fit your needs but I do have a few other options for you. If you are wanting a more traditional looking bike rack then the Swagman Dispatch # S64684 is what you are looking for as it is rated for use with a 5th wheel trailer. The only issue is that you will likely need an adapter bar like...

  • Can Swagman Escapee Be Used with E-Bike with Fenders at Rear of 5th Wheel Trailer
I spoke with my contact at Swagman regarding the use of the Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64693 that you referenced with your e-bikes that have front fenders. He said that the padded hooks on the rack really should come down before the apex of the front wheel, ideally right up against the fork crown or front brake. Even with the short front fenders on your particular e-bikes my contact said this likely isn't the best rack option as the slight angle of the hooks can still potentially cause...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack that Accepts 27.5 Inch Wheels and a 50 Inch Wheelbase
The Escapee # S64693 accepts up to a 51 inch wheelbase and 20 to 29 inch wheels. It also holds the bikes at the tires only. This rack was designed for heavy-duty bikes and carries a limited lifetime warranty. You could also use the BikeWing # LGA54FR which accepts up to a 50 inch wheelbase. The wheel size does not matter in this case. This budget-friendly rack is becoming quite popular due to its low price and light weight (20 pounds).
