The Escapee lets you carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. It has padded, ratcheting hooks and long wheel cradles with sliding, ratcheting straps so you can carry 2 bikes regardless of size, frame design, or suspension or brake style. The heavy-duty construction is designed to carry E-bikes up to 60 lbs. It has a low loading height that reduces the strain of mounting your bikes for transport. It also has a locking system that secures your bikes to the rack and the rack to your hitch.

Pivoting Upright Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

Ratcheting hooks on the upright arms hold 2 bikes of varying sizes firmly by the front wheels with no frame contact. The padded hooks won't scratch or scuff your bike, and built-in keyed locks let you secure the bikes to the rack. You can fold down the arms when no bikes are on the rack for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Long Wheel Cradles with Sliding, Ratcheting Straps

Adjustable Wheel Trays

Extra-long cradles with ratcheting straps secure your bikes' rear wheels to the rack. The straps slide along the cradles to accommodate bikes of different lengths.

Locking System

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

There is an integrated lock in each ratcheting hook that lets you secure your bikes to the rack.

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

The locking, threaded hitch pin secures the rack to your hitch receiver, and it also serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate rattling in the receiver.

Video Transcript for Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack Review

Haydn: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Escapee Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: S64693.This RV-approved bike rack is perfect for your vehicles, campers, fifth wheels and, of course, RVs. It's heavy-duty design means it can stand up to extra stress typically found at the rear of RVs. Its versatile design is going to allow it to carry most bikes included eBikes. However, it is not fat-bike compatible. It holds your bikes with zero frame contact, making it great for carbon-fiber bikes. It features a ratcheting wheel hook to secure our front tire into our front wheel cradle. Here in the back, we've got an adjustable wheel strap to secure our rear tire. There's no need for a cable lock.

The ratcheting hooks lock so your bikes can't be removed. The anti-rattle bolt also features a lock so your bike rack can't be removed. We've gone ahead and removed the bikes so we can take a closer look. When not in use, the ratcheting hooks fold flat. The wheel cradles are going to work with road bike tires and mountain bike tires up to three inches wide. We have the same setup on the rear cradle. Here's a few measurements that's going to help you decide if it's going to be a right fit for you.

From the center of the hitch-pin hole to the closest part of the rack is 10 inches. From the center of the hitch-pin hole to the end of the rack is about 36 inches. It's a solid-steel construction with a silver powder-coat finish to resist rust and corrosion. It also has a 60-pound-per-bike weight capacity. The Swagman Escapee features a limited lifetime warranty. We've brought Mike in that works a lot with our customers. Mike what can you tell me about the Swagman Escapee Mike: Well, Haydn, I actually took quite a bit of notes on this particular bike rack and what I found out from our customers is ...

especially those with RVs, they're looking for something that has a higher weight capacity and that can carry eBikes. More and more people are starting to go to eBikes and are looking for racks that are going to work with their RV. The Escapee is one that they're very interested in.Now, what are customers have found out about this rack is that it is easy to assemble. It's easy to use. It's really simple.

One of the downsides though, it doesn't fold up. There's a reason for that on RV bike racks, the folding mechanism could be a point of weakness. You don't want one that folds up. That's a good thing actually for RV owners. Haydn: Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now this is going to be for two-inch-by-two-inch receivers only. Let's go ahead and load it up.We'll go ahead and feed it into our receiver tube. We'll line up our pin holes. Then we'll take our included anti-rattle bolt and lock, we'll start threading that through. Once you get it hand tight, we can take a wrench or socket and tighten it the rest of the way down. Now you will have to provide your own. The size is 23 millimeter. Then on the other side, we can just take our lock, clip it on in place, remove our keys and we're all set.To load up our bikes, we'll want to fold our arms and undo our rear wheel strap. Now it's recommended that you load up the heaviest bike first. For us, it's going to be our mountain bike. We'll rest our front wheel into the front-wheel cradle and then set the rear wheel down in place. Then we can take our wheel hook, we'll raise it up until it comes in front of our shocks or our brakes, whatever comes first. We'll ratchet it down. Once it makes contact, we'll give it a good push and then we can move on to the rear. Then here at the rear, we'll adjust our strap to where it's center with our wheel. Run our strap through, pull it down nice and tight. With our second bike loaded up, we can go ahead and lock up our ratcheting arms. Then we can head out on our test course and see how it performs. Here on our test course, let's first go into our slalom. This is going to show side-to-side action, such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our solid speed bumps. This is going to show an up-and-down action, such as pulling in and out of a driveway or out of a parking lot. Then, finally, onto our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over potholes or uneven pavement. That's going to complete our look at the Swagman Escapee Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: S64693.

eTrailer.com was very easy to use. I ordered several items but one was on back order. I received a call from a real person who told me the item was back ordered and the date they would have it and ship it to me AND that's what they did. Great service I will use them again. 486999

I am pleased with this bike rack for use on the back of my RV trailer. It is very solidly built. It has held the bikes in place for thousands of miles so far. I was missing a small part when it arrived but etrailer was very helpful getting me what I needed. The only reason I am holding back on giving it 5 stars is that in the description it says "hold your bikes by the wheels with no frame contact", that is not really the case. The arms DO come in contact with the forks of the bikes. In fact this rack rubbed holes clear through the paint on both bikes, the very first trip. 604439

By far the best and easiest bike rake made for rvs bar none. Very knowledgeable employees about their products and bent over backwards to ship it to me while being a winter Texan. If you haul bikes on a rv or camper you best be sure its rv rated or your hitch can break and you will be dragging them down the highway. Best prices but best of all best service

Fast , knowledgeable sales support. Order was shipped quickly and arrived ahead of schedule. Rack is certainly heavy duty. Had to use a grinder to clean up some welding slag before two of the pieces would fit together but other than that it assembled quickly. Unfortunately, this rack will not allow the rear doors of a Sprinter van to open when the rack is mounted. I sorta suspected that would be the case and we'll just have to deal with it. 474465

So far we have had no issues and are pleased with the purchase. We bought it because we specifically needed a rugged hitch for use with our RV. It has served us well. Well be putting it to good use again this season.

This is my second Swagman bike rack and love it! I made this purchase to carry Bikes on long trips! Although I have not hit the road yet I did put it together without much effort and put it on my RV just to “see” how everything fit... I put the 2 bikes on too...Perfect!! It’s just very secure and easy to use! Easy to put together as well! This is perfect for this 65 year old woman! Thank you etrailer! 479156

It has been a year owning and using the Swagman Bike rack. The purchase was for my RV and it is PERFECT! We are in the road 4-5 months a year and the bike rack travels easily and I love how easy it is to put the two bikes on and off the RV anytime. In fact I usually store the bikes on the rack because it’s much better than trying to keep the bikes upright on the ground! And the rack after all these miles and all kinds of weather still looks and operates like it’s new!! I highly recommend this bike rack!

Works great on the back of our 5th wheel, no issues with bikes moving, or getting scratched up. Had it one year now and went up to Michigan and down to South Carolina, worked great. 489689

Great rack and easy assembly. Glad to know this one is rv rated while the hollywood racks are not due to metal fatigue and racks ending up on the road. Bikes load easy and no frame contact. Trying it out on the truck before putting it on the back of our fifth wheel. Moves bikes from a rack in a hitch on the front of the truck. Will update when on the rv. 504026

The Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Carrier arrived with minimal damage to the box from shipping, did have a few holes punched thru from the components inside. The assembly process was simple, Swagman makes it very easy to assemble the way its constructed. This is a very well made Carrier and should last a very long time. I did figure out with this carrier if you just wanted to fold in up to minimize space ONLY WHILE PARKED you could remove one of the 3/4 bolts on the top bar and loosen the end one just enough for the bar to pivot with that loosened bolt it will fold up. I would only do this to save space while parked only. I would never recommend doing this while driving on the roadway. I've provided some pictures of the Carrier in use with a mountain bike loaded and one with it folded up for added space. All in all this is a fantastic carrier and Etrailer.com comes highly recommended. 549056

I needed a bike rack for my 5th Wheel RV. I also wanted to make sure it was RV approved. The Swagman Escapee was one of the few I found that was RV approved by the manufacture. It was very easy to assemble and the anti rattle hitch pin removed the little slack that was in the hitch. Just returned from a 2,200 mile trip. The rack worked great. Someone following me the first half of the trip said it was very solid with very little bounce or extra movement on back of the RV. Love the locks for each bike and the hitch. Only downside is the rack doesn't' fold up out of the way. I suppose that is why it is RV approved and has so little movement. Very happy with this item. As always etrailer was fast with shipping and had great information available both on line and when I called customer service. 417150

Bought the Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack - Wheel Mount. Bikes are getting pricey and the wheel mount looked like a great way to go to protect the bikes. The Swagman Escapee has a pretty high weight rating per bike and seems to be made for EBikes in particular. We have Haibike SDURO HardSeven SLs. They come it at 49.3#’s with battery. As always, ETrailer is a great vendor, multiple purchases over the years, always a fair price and a good product with speedy shipping. Their website is very informative and customer service rocks. The packaging is good, even the dog approved. Came mostly assembled. I used thread sealer on the bits. Would be nice if the hardware came pre-dipped. Everything goes together smoothly with good tolerances to avoid the slop. All the holes line up. It is a big rack once assembled. So, that may be an issue for storage? A tip: The arms can fold down towards the wheel well, if you are driving without bikes, use the straps to hold the arm and not lose the straps. A word of warning. Wheel mount systems seem to do great on the road / highway. Etrailers has various videos on their “test” track that show what I mean. Various mount systems hold the bikes more securely than others. This application is for the road only for us. Maybe gravel, but not designed for, or in our case, to be used during off road jaunts. So, what do I think? Well, I may mount a third brake light to the rear of the Swagman Escapee hitch rack. Simple pigtail plug into trailer outlet plug. The Swagman Escapee sticks out a bit from the rear and I don’t want to get rear ended. Took it out on a 90 mile highway trip and no issues. I would say the Swagman Escapee is a good product, a fair price, and if the Swagman Escapee fits your needs, buy it. I am pleased; I suspect you will be too. 349306

Easy assembly. Nice quality bike rack. It is much heavier than the bike racks for SUV's and cars. I bought the Escapee for my 5th wheel and so glad that I did. It held my mountain bikes while traveling with ease. It is the bike rack you need if you are hauling bikes behind your camper. Thanks so much Swagman! 429229

E-Trailer Customer Service is excellent. Ashley and George were so helpful with a number of question. This system has worked extremely well on 2011 Thor Hurricane. I offers enough distance so the bikes don't touch. Very solid, with great attachment to receiver. It met all my expectations. 523874

We travel a lot with a 5th wheel and bikes. When my wife got an ebike it became obvious that our light weight bike rack on the 5th wheel would no longer work. The ebike weighed in at 55 lbs. I started researching new racks looking for a sppecific criteria for the rack. #1 It must be designed for use on a 5th wheel. #2 Strong enough to support a heavy ebike. #3 Have the ability to lock the hitch to the trailer and the bikes to the hitch. Several racks that I looked at had a cable that you wrapped around the bikes to lock them to the rack. I beleive those cables are too easily defeated by bolt cutters and are not secure enough. I wanted to find a rack with a locking arm to secure the bikes. This Swagman Escapee met my requirements so I purchased it. The box arrived in shambles. It looked like the UPS softball team had used the box for batting practice. There were two holes in the box with pieces of metal sticking out. The box was held together with 65 plus staples and a few hundred feet of shipping tape. My guess was that someone else had bought this particular rack and returned it. A box could not be in that bad of shape from just one trip. When I opened the box I was very careful to make sure all the parts were there and working. Much to my surprise everything was there and worked just fine. The instructions were easy to follow . Assembly took only 20 minutes. I would suggest that instead of assembing the rack on the ground and inserting it into the trailer hitch that you insert the 2" bar into your reciever hitch and assemble the rack with it already mounted on the vehicle. We've only used the rack once since it arrived this week. It works just fine. We are very happy with how easy it is to use and how securely it locks our bikes. 530210

We had a Thule bike rack that served us well. I did not realize that it was not recommended for our Fifth Wheel Trailer. We have made four, ten thousand mile trips with it. Each year we had a different small problem and welded it too continue on. I decided to buy another bike rack and searched for more information. As soon as I went to the etrailer Web site and got to bike racks there were racks that were approved for RV service and in our case fifth wheel. We picked the Swagman because of the maximum weight capacity and that there is no frame contact when securing the bikes. It seems to be very sturdy and easy to use. We will know more when we go on our Winter Journey. etrailer came through again with good pricing and quick delivery. 551388

Comments

Due to the extended rear overhang and less sophisticated suspension found on a towed trailer, not all bike racks are recommended for use on a towed trailer. The nature of the suspension means that the bike rack would be subjected to more shaking and bouncing than what would be found if it were installed on a regular passenger vehicle. Not all racks are designed to withstand this extra stress.

George, Yes I received the bike rack yesterday, but since it's for our motorhome I have not yet had a chance to use it on the RV. It went together very easy and with no problems. When I actually put it on the RV, and use it with our 2 electric bikes, I will come back and review it properly. Thanks you. 450056

Its been a year now since Ive had my Swagman bike rack, and I love it ! It was easy to assemble, and are well made. Ive had it on our RV and it works great. I ended up also putting a hitch on our Kia Sorento, and its works great on it too. As Ive said, we have 2 electric bikes and they are quite heavy, but the Swagman handles them like a champ. No problems. I feel the bikes are very secure and solid while on the rack. Also, our first rack had a problem with the arm fluid, but George sent me another one right away, with no hassles! I would highly recommend the Swagman bike rack, as they are great product, as is the customer service. Thanks.

We purchased this rack to carry two relatively heavy e-bikes that weigh about 60 pounds each. It has now given us the assurance we were looking for that this rack holds up to the challenge. Excellent bike rack. Sturdy. Clears ground nicely on sharp grade changes. Just a slight issue with key locks being a bit difficult if arm accidentally locked down between notches. Holds bikes firmly over rough roads without loosening. We have taken several long trips with the bike rack over the past year of ownership. No issues. We also like the fact that it came with a locking draw bar pin for extra security. 655044

This puppy is strong. It was easy and also quick to assemble. I just installed it on the back of my SUV and loaded up 70lbs of bikes then took it out for a test drive. Looking in the rear view mirror, it was solid as a rock. Glad I went with the 2 inch only hitch mount. I did sacrifice the ability to fold it up while not in use for this strength but I also plan use this on the back of my travel trailer so I needed that RV rating. I am very pleased with my decision to go with the Swagman Escapee 2 rack and can highly recommend to those that need a strong RV rated bike rake. 646436

All of these have a towing capacity of 10,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs. - Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 2-1/4" Drop/Rise # RM-077-2 - Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 4" Drop/Rise # RM-077-4 - Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 -...

  • Recommended 2-Bike Platform Style Hitch Bike Rack for Use on 30-Foot Trailer
  • You are correct that any bike rack that will be used on the back of a trailer or other RV must be strong enough to withstand the extra vertical and lateral stress forces found at the back of such vehicles. There are extra stresses on RVs due to the greater distance between the rear axle and the hitch tube; this greater distance translates into more leverage applied to the rack, and so RV racks are built to be extra-sturdy. The referenced Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Wheel-Mount Platform...

  • Comparing Thule T2 Pro XTB and Swagman Escapee Platform Bike Racks for Use on a Motorhome
  • Pretty recently bike manufacturers have been clarifying if they rate their racks to be carried on the back of a motorhome or trailer. Some have even changed their standards and others have come out with new racks that are rated for more usage with extra features. That's why you're finding contradictory information that makes it confusing. One big change is that a lot of racks are rated to be used on a motorhome but not a trailer of any kind. Beforehand those two categories were combined...

  • Is Thule EasyFold XT 2 Electric Bike Rack the Best Option for Back of Motorhome
  • The Thule EasyFold XT 2 Electric Bike Platform Rack # TH903202 is absolutely going to be the best option to carry your two e-bikes on the back of your 2018 Tiffin Allegro 34PA, and it can also be used with your Cherokee, but NOT when the Cherokee is being flat towed. The EasyFold XT has a weight capacity of 65 lbs per bike which will accommodate your needs, and the fenders will not be an issue because the EasyFold uses ratcheting straps to secure the wheels and has independent arms that...

  • Will Bike Bag fit Swagman Escapee Bike Rack
  • The Swagman Horizontal Style 2 Bike Bag # S82006 will fit the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64693 but because the Escapee is a wheel-mounted bike rack it will be more difficult to use than with a frame-mounted bike rack, depending on what type of bikes you have. The reason for that is the extra width of a wheel-mounted rack with the arm sticking out is going to give your less overall width to mount your bikes; when we test fit this bag on a different wheel-mounted bike rack...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying 60 lb Bike at Rear of Travel Trailer
  • I do have a bike rack solution that will work well for your, but not every bike rack is designed for the rouger ride quality at the rear of a camper. I wish I could recommend the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 for you as it is a great rack, but it shouldn't be used at the back of a travel trailer. The most similar option is the Swagman Escapee part # S64693 which has a 60 lb per bike capacity and can be used at the rear of a camper so it would work well for you. This would work great...

  • Best Bike Rack for Electric Bikes on Motorhome
  • The best bike rack for you is going to be the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2-Electric Bike Platform Rack part # HR1450E. The reason for this is because it is approved for use on motorhomes, has a 2" shank so no adapters are needed, can carry bikes up to 80 lbs each, and attaches via the frame so there will not be any issues with bikes that have fenders. It also has a lifetime warranty and comes with locks for both the bikes and rack. The Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack part #...

  • Carrying up to 3 E Bikes on Winnebago Vista 29 Foot RV
  • For your application, I recommend using the Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack, part # S64693 when you're looking to transport two E-Bikes. This is a sturdy platform style rack that cradles the racks by the wheels. Additionally, it has integrated hitch and bike locks for added security. For three bikes, it's a little trickier. There are no 3-bike platform style racks that are rated for RV use. One solution that I can recommend to add that extra bike if you have a ladder on the rear...

  • Recommended 2-Bike Hitch Rack for SUV and Sprinter RV
  • Hitch bike racks rated for RV use typically do not offer a tilt function as they need to be as strong as possible to withstand the stresses found at the rear of an RV. A hinged tilting mechanism would tend to weaken the overall rack structure. But some of our available RV racks do disassemble or fold for more convenient storage and vehicle access. For instance, the Swagman Escapee 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64693, which includes locks both for the rack and for your two bikes, features solid...

  • Why Cant Some Bike Racks be Used on the Back of an RV or Trailer
  • Only certain bike racks are rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer but the Hollywood Racks # HR1400Z bike rack is not one of them. Generally, any rack that can fold or tilt, with few exceptions, won't be rated for this applications. The reason is that there is significantly more movement at the back of an RV or trailer due to the distance from the rear axle to the end of the vehicle/trailer and/or because the suspension is not as effective in many cases as a passenger vehicle. Folding/titling...

  • Recommended Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for RV Bike Carrier and Tow Bar for Towing Small Car
  • To attach a hitch mounted bike rack while flat towing a vehicle behind your motorhome, you will need a dual hitch receiver like the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544. This will allow the top raised portion of the adapter to accept an RV compatible bike rack and the lower portion will accept your tow bar. This adapter will reduce your hitch receiver's tongue weight capacity by 50% but that won't be an issue with what you are looking to do as long as you are flat towing instead...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Tongue of R-Pod With Electric Tongue Jack
  • To mount a bike rack to the tongue of your R-Pod you will want to start out by using the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers # CC-275. This will give you a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver opening for you to use a bike rack with. From the top of the A-frame of your R-Pod to the top of the cross tube is 33-1/2 inches, which should clear your electric tongue jack, and it has a weight capacity of 100 lbs. • RV Bike Rack Recommendation for Use When Flat Towing Vehicle
  • At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. The Swagman Dispatch part # S64684 is a great RV approved bike...

If the tire protrudes outward more than 10 inches beyond the center of the hitch pin hole of your RV's hitch then this bike rack will not work. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for Ground Clearance for Towing and Carrying Bikes on a 2018 Outback Wagon
  • Adding a trailer hitch will affect the ground clearance on certain vehicles depending on how it installs. In the case of your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon it will affect the ground clearance a little due to the hitch receiver sitting under the bumper and rear fascia. The trailer hitch that will affect it the least and what I recommend using is the EcoHitch # 306-X7266. From the top of the inside of the receiver opening to the ground on a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon is about 16" so the ground...

This is a wheel mount bike rack which secures your bikes without making contact with the frame. For e-Bikes with fenders we have the Swagman E-Spec # S64689. It is similar to the Dr. Tray in that it holds 2 bikes at the wheels but at a lower price. I have linked a video review of this bike rack for you (I'm in this video; the chubby guy!). Instead, I recommend the Swagman Escapee, part # S64693 or Dispatch, part # S64684. Both of these racks are rated for RV use and are wheel mount racks. They both also include integrated hitch and cable locks for the bikes, increasing the security of the rack. However, in order to use a bike rack on the rear of an RV the bike rack must be RV approved. The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, # 13703, is a universal, adjustable hitch which will work on frames with a width of 22 inches up to 72 inches. • Recommended Bike Rack For RoadTrek Zion RV With Double Rear Doors
  • RV compatible bike racks do not have the ability to tilt for cargo access and the Thule Roadway you mentioned is not an RV-rated bike rack. They have to be more durable because of the location on the back of an RV, so the features like tilt are not a viable option. Your best option for access is to use a platform rack and remove the bikes. Instead, I recommend either using the MaxxTow Ball Mount part # MT70066 or the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver part # RM-077-8.
