Versatile Bike Rack for Your RV

Swagman Dispatch

5th Wheels, motorhomes, and travel trailers have different suspensions than standard commuter vehicles. The Dispatch is designed to handle the extra bounce and sway that results from being placed further away from your vehicle's rear axle. It also gives your bikes 5" higher clearance than most other RV-rated platform racks. But it's not just for your RV. You can also install it in the 2" hitch on your car, truck, or SUV.

Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Dispatch Ratcheting Hooks

The Dispatch's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Straps

Swagman Dispatch Adjustable Wheel Cradles

The wheel cradles slide to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. Hand knobs let you release the cradles to slide along the bike tray and adjust for your specific bike lengths. Each cradle has a ratcheting strap so you can secure your bikes' wheels during transport. If you need to carry fat bikes, there are cradles (sold separately) that let you carry bikes with tires up to 5" wide.

Folding Design

Swagman Dispatch Folding Design

You can fold the mast down for easy access to your rear cargo area. Simply pull the spring-loaded release lever at the base of the mast and fold it down in either direction.

by:

Rack performed without a problem on two extended trips....for a total of 11, 000 miles.

by:

We like it very much. But it is so heavy to lift on and off when we go away to ride bikes.

by:

Very pleased with quality of product and function. Very easy to assemble, and install. We use this to haul our bikes behind our RV and so far no problems. Great product!

by:

customer service informed me well after the order was placed that the unit was back ordered... turned out nearly a month or so...not great to but ok.
then when the order did arrived, the box had been opened and was in very rough shape.. ie moisture damage, holes and major disintegration and had been repacked. amazingly all parts seem to be there, though some in less than brand new condition.
after all, the unit went together fine(very straightforward assembly) and seems sturdy as one would expect for an rv approved platform rack and the cosmetic damage isn't worth the hassle of correcting.

by:

Looks good on tundra. Will let you know with picture after hitch is in place.

by:

Very good but had to by adapter for womens style bike

by:

i got my package today and it was easy to put together, but I had a little bit of trouble with the bike wheels glad I didn't put the screws in I had to take them off. but over all it was a piece of cake.

by:

This carrier is heavy duty, extremely well engineered and well worth the cost.
Etrailer is a great company with excellent customer service.

by:

Timely delivery in a sturdy box. All necessary parts included. Item appears to be very sturdy and well built. Nice heavy duty rack. Comes with very sturdy cable for securing and locking. This is going to, perfectly, meet our needs! Getting ready to install; very pleased thus far.

by:

An outstanding product chosen to carry our bikes behind our towed vehicle. Recommended for RVs.

by:

Works great very sturdy, easy to install and remove bikes. Locking feature is nice to have also.

by:

Very heavy duty bike rack. Arrived on time and was very easy to assemble.

by:

We found this bike rack to be easy to assemble. It appears to be very sturdy, which also means it is pretty heavy and somewhat difficult to move from one vehicle to a another by myself. We haven't used it on our travel trailer yet, but anticipate that it will be just what we needed.

  • RV Compatible Platform Bike Racks
The Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # S44FR is the platform bike rack I recommend that is compatible with RV and travel trailer use. It is a very nice bike rack that holds your bikes in 3 spots. It has the similar ratcheting hooks, but uses a different style wheel cradle. This rack has a fold down mast, but the rest of the frame is rigid to give the support needed for RV use. The Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches for RV Bumpers # S64663. is a bike...

  • Does the Kuat NV 2.0 Work with Bikes with Fenders?
I have a solution for you. Here at Etrailer, we strongly discourage using wheel-mounted bike racks like the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22B for bikes with fenders. Mounting wheels with fenders can cause the fenders to crack or become damaged, especially with the added bumps and torque from your vehicle when it is in motion. For a solution that completely avoids any potential for damage, I recommend the Swagman Dispatch Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S44FR. Since the Dispatch mounts...

We do offer several types of bike carriers designed and rated for use on the front of an RV, including the platform style such as the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR. This carrier features a folding upright mast that allows you access to the vehicle cargo area when the rack is unloaded. All RV-rated bike racks for 2-inch hitches are shown on the linked page. When we tested the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack part # S44FR on the back of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, the tailgate was not able to be let down fully with the arms folded down. However, when we tested the Swagman Dispatch 2 on the back of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, the tailgate was able to be let down fully with the arms folded down. Therefore, since you already have the bike rack you may just want to do a quick test fit. Unfortunately, you can't use a folding bike rack because they are...

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier Compatible With Bike Rack
There is one spare tire mount made for an application like this. It is the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening - 2" Hitches # RM-195225. This will give you a spare tire holder that can swing down for easier removal and will give you a 2 inch receiver for a bike rack. I recommend using a lock like # e98892 to secure your spare and a hitch lock like # BD580402 to secure your accessory. For a bike rack, I recommend the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack...

  • Available Types of RV-Rated Bike Racks for Use on Class B Motorhome
We can help you select a 2-bike hitch-mount bike rack that is safe to use on the back of your Class B motorhome. Due to the extra motion at the back of an RV (as compared to a passenger car) it is necessary to use a bike rack specifically made and rated for RV use. These specialized racks are made to be stronger in key areas, particularly the shank that goes into the hitch and that bears the total rack and bike weight. • Recommended Bike Rack For RoadTrek Zion RV With Double Rear Doors
RV compatible bike racks do not have the ability to tilt for cargo access and the Thule Roadway you mentioned is not an RV-rated bike rack. They have to be more durable because of the location on the back of an RV, so the features like tilt are not a viable option. Your best option for access is to use a platform rack and remove the bikes. For this I recommend the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # S44FR that has a folding mast where the bikes are held by the frame...

  • RV Bike Rack Recommendation for Use When Flat Towing Vehicle
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. The Swagman Dispatch part # S44FR is a great RV approved bike...

  • Best 2 Bike Carrier for a Jayco 5th Wheel Trailer
For starters, bike racks used on the back of a 5th wheel trailer must be rated for this use as they will experience more stress in comparison to a bike rack used on the back of a vehicle. This has to do with the movement associated with the carrier being located father away from the rear axle. The best platform style bike rack we have for a 5th wheel trailer is the Swagman E-spec 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S94FR. The Escapee was actually designed specifically for use on the back of a...

  • Why Cant Some Bike Racks be Used on the Back of an RV or Trailer
Only certain bike racks are rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer but the Hollywood Racks # HR1400Z bike rack is not one of them. Generally, any rack that can fold or tilt, with few exceptions, won't be rated for this applications. The reason is that there is significantly more movement at the back of an RV or trailer due to the distance from the rear axle to the end of the vehicle/trailer and/or because the suspension is not as effective in many cases as a passenger vehicle. The padded clamps on adjustable arms hold the bikes on the rack. A foot pedal allows the rack to tilt back with bikes loaded for cargo area access. You will need to measure your tow bar to see how much actual clearance that will give you for turning clearance. The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2 # HR200Z can be used on any passenger vehicle and on a motorhome, but not on a travel trailer or 5th wheel. The reason why some bike racks should not be used on 5th wheels is that there is extra motion at the hitch on such vehicles.
