Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, or towable campers

    Saris SuperClamp EX

The SuperClamp EX lets you rapidly load and safely transport 2 bikes on your vehicle's 1-1/4" or 2" hitch. This rack has front- and rear-wheel hooks to safely transport your bikes without making frame contact. The lightweight, compact design with a platform-style setup allows for rapid bike loading and unloading. Just set your bikes in the wheel trays, ratchet down the wheel hooks, and secure your bikes with the integrated cable lock.

    Ratcheting Wheel Hooks

Saris SuperClamp EX ratcheting wheel hooks

It has padded, ratcheting hooks that secure your bikes by the wheels - not by the frame. This prevents the rack from scratching and scuffing your bike's paint or damaging the frame, which makes the SuperClamp EX an excellent choice for transporting bikes with carbon fiber frames.

Saris SuperClamp EX sliding wheel trays

The hooks adjust independently - just press the gray button and slide the hook up or down. This adjustability allows you to carry any combination of full-size adult bikes, women's bikes, children's bikes, and alternative-frame bikes.

    Adjustable Wheel Trays

Saris SuperClamp EX sliding wheel trays

Injection-molded plastic wheel trays slide along the rack's horizontal arms to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. These trays secure in place with twist knobs.

Saris SuperClamp EX folding masts at end of tray

Use the included ratcheting straps to secure your bike's rear wheel to the wheel tray.

    Saris SuperClamp EX reflectors

There are built-in reflectors on the outside wheel trays that increase visibilty for both daytime and nighttime travel.

If you want to carry a fat bike with tires wider then 4-1/2", you can replace the rack's wheel trays with fat bike cradles (SA4419 - sold separately).

Folding Masts at Ends of Base

Saris SuperClamp EX folding masts at end of tray

The masts are located at opposite ends of the base, making the SuperClamp EX extremely easy to load and unload. Because these masts are at each end of the base, instead of in the middle like most platform racks, they won't interfere in any way with your bikes as you load or unload them. Instead, they simply fold out of the way, giving you a clear path to the wheel trays.

Saris SuperClamp EX sliding wheel trays

These masts lock into the upright position for use, then fold down for storage and access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Just press down on the gray button and rotate the mast to the desired position. The masts pivot on strong, case-hardened steel brackets that ensure long life and smooth operation.

    Folding and Tilting Design

Saris SuperClamp EX folding and tiliting design

There is an integrated lever that lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for access to your rear cargo area or fold the rack up against your vehicle for storage. And it means you can leave the rack in your hitch without it interfering with your cargo hatch or backup camera. The compact design lets you easily store the rack in your garage when it's not in use. There is also a built-in bottle opener over the lever.

    Complete Security System

    Saris SuperClamp EX cable locks

The SuperClamp EX includes locks to deter theft of your bikes and the rack. A braided, 10-mm stainless steel cable lock built into the base secures your bikes to the rack. The cable has a vinyl coating to prevent it from scratching your bikes. Simply thread the cable through the bike frames and attach it to the lock body at the other end of the base.

Saris SuperClamp EX sliding wheel trays

When not in use, the lock stores inside the rack's arm. A push-button releases the lock, so it won't accidentally slide out and drag on the ground during transport.

    Saris SuperClamp EX reflectors

The HitchTite lock fits over the end of your threaded hitch pin to secure the rack to your hitch. The threaded hitch pin serves as an anti-rattle device to minimize movement and noise in the hitch.

    Saris SuperClamp EX lock

Both locks have push-to-lock bodies that make them easy to secure and help to prevent accidental locking. Integrated dust caps keep the lock cores clean and dry. And the locks are keyed alike, so you can use the same key for both locks.

    Saris SuperClamp EX lock

The included adapter sleeve ensures the SuperClamp EX will fit both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches.

I purchased both the Saris bike rack and Eco hitch from Greg and his team. If it wasn't for the great video from etrailer, it would have been a nightmare. But the video was a great help. The hitch installed in about 2 hrs and the assembly of the Saris rack took only about 20 minutes. The Saris rack feels solid and easy to use. The re-trackable safety cords a bit short but they'll do the trick. I'm very happy with the service I was provided, along with the videos that were available. I'm a happy customer.

Excellent customer service and very fast shipping ! Our electric bikes are 60lbs each and one has fat tires and this bike rack is perfect. We put it on our 2000 Lexus LX470. When you move the rack down we can still open both doors in the back ! Hitch is 2”. Can’t say enough good things about this company and the rack

I recently just purchased my first hitch bike rack and chose the Saris Freedom 2 and it delivered! It’s super easy to use, secures my bikes, and folds out of the way when not in use. I feel at ease driving around town or the highways knowing my bike is secure. The hitch lock and rack lock features add extra security too. Definitely hope I’ll have this rack for years to come! 100% recommend for regular bikers or families!

I love the new Saris Super Clamp bike rack for 2 bikes that I purchased recently from Etrailer. I particularly like this rack because it allows me to fold the arms down so that I can open the rear trunk of my SUV. I also cannot say enough about the great service I got from Greg at Etrailer. He kept me informed on when the item was expected to be shipped, and both called and emailed me to make sure I knew when delivery had started and was expected to arrive

I bought this hitch and SARIS bike rack from etrailer so I could mount two bikes on my 2019 Acura RDX. I had a local muffler shop install the hitch, as I didn't have proper tools. it took them 30 mins and $95. Hitch is solid! Looking forward to many years of adventuring! Many thanks, etrailer!

This is a terrific rack. It’s extremely easy to use, allows easy access to rear of my Highlander, and I never have to worry about my bikes. It’s very well-built, lightweight, strong, and stows easily. I’m glad I bought one.

Noah was a great help finding the product for my needs. I have 2 heavy ebikes that I wanted "wheel contact" instead of "frame contact". After a careful assessment of my bikes' configurations (fenders, basket, rear rack), we decided on the Saris SuperClamp EX 2. It's perfect. Thank you Noah and etrailer.

I've only used the rack once so far, but I really like it. I used it on a 29er carbon mountain bike. Part of the trip was on a dirt road and also on rough and curvy paved roads. There is some play to the rack (from the hinge point of the rack), but it was quiet, and I don't recall ever hearing it. Nor did it look at any time like my bike was getting shaken to death. To be clear, the attachment of the rack to the hitch is rock solid. One of the things I really like this rack, and why I chose it over others, is that the integrated bike lock is a pretty beefy cable, and more importantly, it allows me to lock up both wheels and the frame. Many of the integrated locks on other racks only lock up the frame or one wheel, maybe a frame and one wheel, but not all three. I haven't tested the locks trying to lock up the frame and both wheels on two bikes, but it definitely works for one bike. This rack doesn't fold up as flat as other racks that I've seen, but the security was more important to me. All in all, I'm really happy with the rack so far. It seems well made and everything moves and operates smoothly.

After a year, I still really love this rack. Ive had my bike on it on some pretty rough roads and it worked great. Not too long ago I got rear ended by a semi not hard and the rack got bent up a bit. The guy who hit me ended up paying for a new rack, which gave me the opportunity to get something different but I replaced it with the same one. So yeah, Id buy it again.

Love this bike rack! It is super simple to use and accommodates both mine and my husband's bike. I can easily install it by myself (I'm small, 5' 120lbs) and load the bikes on without any help. The bikes feel very sturdy. I like that I can still open the hatch (with the bikes off). Would highly recommend!

I’ve been riding for 27 years. I’ve had many racks. When the hitch rack was 1st produced it was a game changer. No more taking off wheels, stretching to get to the top of a vehicle, damage to the car from roof and trunk racks or damage to the bikes from banging into each other. The hitch rack is the best rack and this is the best version.

Purchased this because we needed a lighter weight platform type two-bike rack for our 2005 Prius which could work with a full shock women's bike (bike needs to be attached and secured to rack by tires, not frame). Instructions with the rack could be better in regards to assembly, but it isn't complicated looking at the photos and videos on etrailer.com helped a lot. This seems to be a good quality rack. Customer service helpful and responded quickly when I contacted them with questions regarding whether this rack was compatible with our 2005 Prius.

I purchased this rack because It stated it would support the weight of my 2 electric bikes. The first trip with the rack installed on our motor home it failed after crossing a railroad crossing at 25 mph. The manufacturer told me to read the small print on the rack where it says not for use on any RV. They charged over a $100 for parts to repair it. Using the rack on my jeep or the motor home shouldn't matter. In my opinion the rack is under designed to carry the weight of the bikes as advertised. In good conscience I can not recommend this rack.

    Comments
The reason Saris does not recommend using this rack on a motorhome is the extended rear overhang distance between rear axle and rear bumper typically found on motorhomes. This subjects any hitch mounted accessory to greater jarring and bouncing that would be experienced if the rack were used on the rear of a regular passenger vehicle. This extra bouncing exerts forces on the rack that it wasnt designed to withstand. Remember riding in the back seat of the school bus when it went over a big bump when you were a kid? Same principle. We do show in the product description above that the rack is not recommended on motorhomes or towed trailers.

I would recommend everyone to adjust (tension) the bolt that operates as the "hinge pin" on this rack. After tightening it down there was significantly less movement of the bikes when hitting potholes and such. I still sometimes tieing on of the uprights to a spare tire carrier adjacent to the carrier to further efforts to negate any slop.

So I bought this for my 2012 Maxima and I’m very pleased with it. It holds the bikes securely and fits my plus bikes very well. My only gripe is that over time it has developed a wobble at the pivot where the arm meets the center of the rack. It concerns me because this is where the pins that hold it in place for the tilt function are and don’t want this thing tilting out on the highway.

This is a review of the Saris SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE but I have to tell a little story about how I came to purchase this item. First, I bought a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch in March and a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 in early May. The Kuat was very sturdy and well designed. However, even when empty and folded up, it was too high for the rear hatch in my Porsche Macan to open without first bending the Sherpa down . So, I could never enter the rear of the SUV without always moving the rack. This was so annoying that I decided to change to a Saris SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE, which had been my 2nd choice. I returned the Kuat, paying the shipping and a 20% restocking fee, and received and installed the Saris within 3 days. This was about a month ago. The service and support from etrailer.com on this change was fast, courteous and reasonable in price. The Saris is not as sturdy feeling as the Kuat and tips a little when tightening the wheel holders (i.e., pushing down on the wheel holders) due to the torque put on the hitch. But the Saris is plenty sturdy enough, and I have used it to transport my Cannondale Synapse on multiple trips in 1 month, all of duration 30-60 minutes. The Saris is easy to load and unload and keeps the bike very secure even at 70+ mph. And, the Saris folds up much more compactly to allow opening the Macan’s tailgate without first bending the rack down. This is a terrific advantage over the Kuat and makes me very happy that I made the change. I strongly recommend the Saris SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE and etrailer.com, which provided excellent pricing, service and support on all 3 purchases.

Easy installation. Seemed like most of it was already assembled just coming out of the box. After installation I put my 29er and Trek road bike on it. Like others before me, it seemed that another 12-15" of length on the bike cable locks would be handy. Being able to lock the front and rear wheels in addition to the frame with the cable locks would make a great rack even better. I was very satisfied with the carrier construction quality and ease of operation. Liked being able to use two hooks for each bike. I would definitely recommend this rack. etrailer shipped very promptly as always and were very helpful with dimensional information regarding hitch set backs to make sure adequate clearance was available to fold various racks up when not transporting bikes.

If you haven't already, double check all the bolts on the carrier and when you're tightening down the anti rattle bolt that comes with the rack be sure to wiggle the rack up and down when tightening it.

    • Best Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation for 2018 Toyota RAV4
For your 2018 Toyota RAV4 with a hitch installed like the etrailer.com hitch part # E98864 installed I really like the Saris Superclamp EX bike rack part # SA4025F. This is a lightweight platform bike rack that only touches the bike at the tires and only weighs 35 lbs. The biggest drawback to platform bike racks has always been the weight of them, but with this rack you get the best of both worlds. The preferred attachment style with the lighter weight. Platform bike racks are also MUCH...

    • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2016 Honda CR-V For Best Rear Camera Visibility
Due to the location of the backup camera on a 2016 Honda CRV being right under the handle for the rear hatch a platform bike rack is going to give you the best visibility. Mainly because there isn't a large upright mast that would basically block the camera and because when not in use you could fold the arms of the rack down to give you the best visibility over it. For that I would recommend the Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4025F. This also happens to be one of the nicest...

    • Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation for Vehicle with Limited Ground Clearance
When it comes to tight ground clearance for a hitch bike rack I would go with a platform bike rack. If for nothing else if you were to drag something it would be the bottom of the rack and not a bike wheel. The Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F has great ground clearance due to the rise it has built into the shank. I attached a review video that shows it installed on a similar Subaru's hitch as well.

    • Best Lightweight Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 2 Bikes
For what you are looking for I would recommend the Saris Superclamp part # SA4025F. It's a platform style bike rack that will fit your 2 inch hitch, it's super lightweight for a platform rack at 35 lbs, and it will only contact your bikes by grabbing them at the tires. Check out the review video for this rack I attached as well.

    • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 29 inch Diameter Wheel with 3 inch Wide Tire
The Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # SA4025F will fit your 29 inch mountain bike tires. I reached out to my contact at Saris to confirm and the clamp will not be an issue. It will fit and secure your bike properly and only will touch the bike by the tire. This rack will also easily handle a tire that is 3 inches wide too. Check out the review video I attaches as well for this lightweight bike rack.

    • Saris Platform Rack That Can Be Tilted Away So Rear Hatch Can Open
I've started with including a link to all of our Tilt-Away models. That's the feature that allows you to tilt away and access the back hatch, even when there are bikes loaded. The second link is to all of Saris' tilt-away bike racks, and hopefully that will help you find the specific one you're looking for. Out of the Saris, I recommend the Saris Superclamp EX, part # SA4025F. This is an incredibly versatile rack that mounts to the wheel of the bike, rather than the frame, and is...

    • Best Platform Bike Rack for Ground Clearance, Quality, and Lightweight
Since you said you want the best possible ground clearance without sacrificing quality the best option you'll have is the Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F. This rack has a shank rise of 5 inches and the wheel trays support the wheels from the bottom of the tire so none of the tire would pass through it at all. This rack is also very lightweight at 35 lbs which is going to be the lightest option around. Check out the review video I attached for more info on this as well.

    • Ground Clearance Concerns with Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack on 2015 VW Jetta
Because of the difference in vehicle frames and styles, ground clearance can be more of a concern on certain vehicles when using hitch-mounted accessories. This isn't abnormal, as some vehicles like your VW Jetta just require that the hitch receiver sit a bit lower to the ground because of the rear design and frame space available for mounting the hitch. There are things you can do to offset this, such as getting a bike rack that features a rise in its shank (which your Yakima HoldUp...

    • Will Adding a Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Affect Gas Mileage on a 2018 Hyundai Ioniq
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24963 weighs all of 20 pounds. The Saris SuperClamp EX # SA4025F weighs 35 pounds. So you could place 55 pounds in your 2018 Hyundai Ioniq's storage area and see if that affects mileage. I believe that it would have a minimal impact if it is even measurable in the short term. The only other option for carrying bikes with this vehicle would be a roof rack and that will definitely affect the mileage. There are lighter bike racks you could use. The BikeWing,...

    • Bike Rack With Rise in Shank for 1-1/4 Hitch Receiver
With a steep driveway I recommend a bike rack that has a rise in the shank, and for a women's bike a wheel-mounted rack is the best option. You can get both of those features with the Saris SuperClamp EX # SA4025F, which fits a 1-1/4 inch hitch and has a capacity of 60 lbs per bike. The SuperClamp EX grasps your bikes by the front and back wheels with ratcheting hooks and has adjustable wheel trays so your bikes can have different size wheelbases. This rack can be tilted down, even with...

    • Does Saris SuperClamp EX Have Speed Limit
Normally we recommend with our hitch bike racks like the part # SA4025F should not ever exceed the posted speed limit. Which in most cases 70 mph is the highest speed limit you'd see. So basically I can't really recommend you exceed 70 mph with this rack or any of the other racks we carry in order to protect other motorists as well as your bikes.

    • Distance Saris SuperClamp EX 4025F Adds to Vehicle Folded Up and Down
When the Saris Superclamp EX 2 # SA4025F is folded down it will measure 27 inches from the hitch pin hole to the furthest point out on the rack. When folded up the distance is then 18 inches. You'd need to measure out both those distances from your hitch pin hole out to know how much room you'd have for your garage clearance. We try to add as much relevant info and dimensions as we can for bike racks and I agree this should be on all product pages! This measurement isn't asked for as...

For a bike rack that doesn't stick out very far from the rear of the vehicle we have the Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F which can carry up to 2 bikes, but the first and second bikes cradles attach to the same crosstube so the rack doesn't stick out quite as far as other racks. There are no single bike racks that we carry though.
