Rotating Arms with Ratcheting Wheel Hooks

Kuat NV22G ratcheeting wheel hooks

The NV 2.0 has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Large Front Wheel Cradles

Kuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting strapsKuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps

The front wheel cradles will easily accommodate fat bike wheels. They can also be adjusted to perfectly fit each bike's wheelbase. Use the included Allen key stored in the compartment at the back of the rack to adjust.

Sliding Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Straps

Kuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps

Ratcheting rear-wheel straps slide along the wheel trays to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. Press the quick-release button on the strap buckle to remove your bikes. An extender strap is included for use with 1 fat bike. Additional extender straps (sold separately) are available if you have more than 1 fat bike.

Foot Lever for Easy Tilting and Folding

Kuat NV22G hitch tightening adjustment knob

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat NV 2.0 tilting rackKuat NV 2.0 folding rack

The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.

Built-In Repair Stand

Kuat NV22G built-in repair stand

The Trail Doc is a handy repair stand that attaches to the front of the rack. It lets you position your bike as needed for adjustments, cleaning, and on-the-go repairs. It can be also be locked into place to prevent theft and includes a cap for the housing if you prefer to use the rack without it.

Kuat NV22G adjustable built-in stand

A spring-loaded clamp grabs your bike by the seat post or top tube. It has a soft, rubber coating that won't scratch your bike's paint. The rotating clamp arm lets you adjust the angle of your bike and the locking collar secures your bike at the desired height.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Kuat NV22G anti rattle device

The knob at the front of the shank lets you quickly and easily install the rack. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. The locking hitch pin has an Allen tool on the end that further tightens the hand knob if you are still experiencing rattle after hand-tightening.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Kuat NV22G integrated cable lock

The NV 2.0 includes integrated cable locks that lets you secure your bikes to the rack. A 1/4" thick, braided steel cable extends from each wheel tray, threads through your bike's frame, and locks back onto itself.

Kuat NV22G integrated cable lock

A locking hitch pin is also included to secure the rack to your vehicle. It's keyed alike with the cable lock so you only need 1 key for the rack.

Love the fit and solid quality build of this bike carrier. Can't wait to try it out. I am using this carrier for two e-bikes and I am confident that it will hold up very nicely and will have no problem holding the weight of the 2 bikes.

The rack screams quality, and it is in my opinion the best looking bike rack out there. Everything works as advertised in the many reviews haha. I only had an issue with the trail doc (the built in bike stand to do maintenance on the go)... The clamp got stuck and wouldn't open or close. I called Kuat and without asking much of an explanation or even a receipt, they shipped me a new part for free. I bought this for my VW Sportwagen, and I found two things. The first one is that I don't use the trail doc very often... If you think about it, it is completely unnecessary. If I could go back in time, I would buy the sherpa instead for that reason, and because it is a lot lighter and cheaper as added benefits. I think this is best suited for a large vehicle to use with the extension to carry a total of 4 bikes.

Clear and simple assembly instructions. Packaged very well to protect all painted surfaces. It’s a very well built and sturdy rack. I really like that each front tire tray is adjustable up or down. Kuat pulled out all the stops on this rack, Excellently done! I also like the integrated bike locks and the anti-sway feature, very cool! I believe this rack will allow my son and I to travel further safely and explore more on our mountain bikes and bring us closer together.

I love my Küat. It is secure and so easy to mount bikes, my wife loves it too. The work stand is a nice bonus too.

After a year I still love my Kuat. It has made a bunch of trips to Vermont from here in Connecticut without a problems or hiccups. I have had quite a few comments on it, folks thought it looked unique and very secure. I really appreciate the integrated locking cable, it gives me piece of mind that my bikes are safe. My only problem was with the locking pin for the work stand which broke shortly after I got it. The folks from Kuat quickly sent me a replacement though, the gentleman I talked to was very helpful. All in all, this rack is well worth the price in my opinion.

Paired this rack with a Curt C11111 for my 2012 Infiniti M37 Sedan. Easy to assemble/install, custom fit and look. The rack makes it extremely easy to load either MTB or road bikes. My wife loves the fact she can load the bikes without my assistance!

by:

The gold standard of hitch mounted racks. I had originally ordered the Saris Freedom Super Clamp but after reading other reviews of the NV 2.0 I called and changed my order. The best feature of the rack is that there is zero wiggle of the bikes and the rack during the ride because of the ratcheting and tightening of the rack into the hitch. We transport road, triathlon (top of the line $$), and mountain bikes on this rack and with our big upcoming trip to Ironman Lake Placid 2017 we wanted the best rack available.

- NV12G

Arrived quickly, easy to assemble. The Kuat NV 2.0 was one of the few platform style bike racks that seemed compatible with our 2019 Subaru Crosstrek 1 1/4" class 1 hitch (serial # L101SFL000, pin hole depth 1.5"). The rack adjusts well to fit either my husband's road bike, our hybrid bikes, or my son's Electra Cruiser (bigger wheel base and tire width). Love the repair stand option! The rack is heavy, but sturdy and I love the colors (gunmetal gray with orange trim). I also love the tilt option for opening the rear hatch of the Subaru and the fold up option for space saving when we are not using the rack. We haven't tested the rack on a trip yet but I will report back and attach pictures when we do.

Love the rack. Great functionality, great looks, not Thule or Yakima. Fortunately the color matches my car exactly. I'm glad I got it on sale, and I'm really glad my partner has no idea how much I paid for it. Assembly instructions were straight forward, and I put it together on a folding table by myself. I'm not going to lie, this rack is on the heavier side but I can still mount it and remove it by myself. It may be a little overkill for my road bike, but it looks good on the my Focus ST.

Product works exactly as advertised. This is a great rack and is well worth the money, especially if you have a bike with a long wheelbase. Read the expert answers to make sure it will have enough clearance to fit your vehicle. I'm using mine on a new mustang with a class one hitch from this website; the fit is perfect. Overall an excellent product; although I have yet to use it for very long, I have full confidence it will last for many road trips to come, it seems to be of exceptional quality.

- NV12G
by:

Love this rack! I did a lot of research before deciding on this one and I made the right choice. The trail dock is awesome to have available.

- NV12G
by:

The rack itself seems very sturdy -- of very high quality. However, assembling it was ridiculously difficult, especially for one person. Kuat's video about assembling the NV12G is very misleading. The nuts do not go on the bolts easily (bolts are too short). This took me several hours to put together. Might have been easier if I had someone to help me. Plan to have someone help you assemble it. Otherwise, it's a nightmare.

Still brand new, but very impressed with the build quality and functionality. I have a Q50 sport sedan and previously had a trunk mount Thule Raceway Pro-2. My bike came out of it twice (I have a Kestrel 4000LTD with a unique frame which may have something to do with it). So, I just bought this. Platform mount is much more stable. Very happy! FYI - care hitches have 1.25 inch mounts, so make sure you get the compatible NV 2.0!

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

I have had my Kuat NV 2.0 4-Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Metallic Black for a month now. Amazing engineering. Solid rack. I have four or five old (cheaper) racks and this is the best rack I have ever seen by far. Extremely happy with this. I will reserve comment on whether or not a bike rack should cost $xx.xx but it’s a great rack. Possible improvements: 1) The rack is just too heavy. With the amazing engineers that worked on this, knocking 10 lbs off the rack would be easy. I know it is one of the lighter ones available but it is still too heavy. The center rail is all steel and the heaviest part. The outer part of the swing arms are steel (inner part is aluminum). The arms have really nice bushings on the hinges. The whole thing is amazing, well-built, and well-engineered. IDEA 1: lightweight the center rail by using U-lube instead of square tube. Or just make holes through the top and bottom of he square rail. IDEA 2) The Aluminum platforms are amazing. But use less Al and more plastic. The ones for the back tire add significant weight. 2) Someone came up with a great idea for dealing with one aspect of the weight problem. One problem is that at 54 lbs. when you put it in the receiver it’s hard to align the hitch pin hole by yourself. So I kludged up a stop using a ring clamp and some plastic tubing. I was going to tap a hole in the center rail for a stop screw but then I could not adjust the depth for different vehicles. So I went with the ring clamp. When installing it (see photo) I noticed that someone already had a great idea and tapped a hole to add a stop. I assume there is an adjustable clip that is secured by the recessed screw. But I did not receive the clip. I just have a beautifully designed tapped hole and recessed screw with no way to use it. Probably an easy answer to this one but i didn't get a clip and didn't see this referenced in the instructions at all. 3) Back tire surface. It almost doesn’t matter where you ride the mountain bike, somewhere along the trial there is sandy, gravely surface that gets on your tires. I have gone in five ‘dirt’ trails and covered my tires with smooth mud thinking that I wasn’t going to hit sand. Then when I get back to the parking lot the mud collects the sandy gravel—either in the gravel parking lot or at the edge of the asphalt lot. Then I put the bike on the beautiful smooth aluminum carrier and scratch it. There should be an improvement to resurface the area where the back tire goes. It looks like there has been some weak attempt to provide a plastic coat but it doesn’t work. I am going to buy some rubberized truck-bed liner or spray rubberized spray rust proofer to refinish this. 4) Last possible improvement. The only people that should be buying this bike rack are people with high end mountain bikes. The reason for the platform carrier is to accommodate the odd frame geometry of mountain bikes and to protect the full suspension from dangling and getting air in the cylinders. If you have a full carbon road bike then just hang it on the back of your car with a $200 bike rack. And no one is going to carry $120 steel Walmart BLO’s with a $xx.xx platform carrier. They are going to strap them to the roof of their minivan. So you could even make this carry less weight capacity to make it lighter. And just tell people to put the 60 lb bike (like ebikes) closest to vehicle and lighter bikes in the back. EVERYONE has a lighter bike… either aluminum, carbon, or just a kids bike. This rack can carry 250 lbs of bikes (4 x 60+). The market for carrying 250lbs of bikes is nearly zero. delivery was perfect. Assembly was easy with two people; probably could do it with one. As you can tell, it is a real stretch to find anything wrong with this. But my minor comments are above.

Comments
After one year: Bike rack is amazing. my few concerns previously were largely due to my lack of understanding. I have the four bike rack but primarily use the two bike rack. The reason for the heavy steel is for four bikes it seem overkill for the two bikes but its really nice when carrying four. The tapped hole is not for a stop at all. it would be nice to have an adjustable stop to limit how far you put it into the receiver so the pin lines up. also, when I put the rack on alone I put the two bike rack on, stand it up, and then add on the four bike extension vs. trying to put the four bike one on alone. adding the four bike rack is very easy... four minutes. This rack is just amazing. we use it every week for mountain bikes but it also carries our road bikes and cyclocross bike really easy. And the bike length can be adjusted in seconds. our road bikes have a shorter wheel base and it adjusts super easy. we beat on it pretty good and the only thing we have broke is lock user error. One of the kids unlocked the lock and did not it back into the frame all the way until the magnet clipped it in. so the lock dragged down the road. this is absolutely worth the money.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

Great service from etrailer and the rack arrived as expected. Fairly easy assembly. OK video on Kuat’s site, but didn’t cover the foot pedal. Really glad we got the 2” hitch. It tightened up and we’re impressed with the quality and the stability of the rack. We haven’t done a road test yet, but look forward to putting it to the test. We have a Ford F-150 and it works great. The bikes were fairly easy to load with the batteries out and two people. We do need the strap extenders for our RadMini Step Thru’s. The tires are too big for the ones that come with. Only one set of extenders came with the bike and one adapter for a smaller tire. It’s okay, but since it’s a two bike unit, would have been nice to have both extenders. Otherwise, we are really liking the look and stability.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

I am very pleased with the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack. It was tough to swallow the price tag. However, looking back after purchasing more expensive bikes, and traveling several thousand miles with no issues, I can attest to the quality and durability of this product. For you Jeepers out there, you may need to extend your receiver hitch for proper clearance, depending upon the size of your tires and bikes. Just a tip.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

About the Kuat NV 2.0: Buy a Kuat NV 2.0!!! Then, get the 2 Bike Add-On to carry 4 bikes. This is hands-down THE BEST rack on the market. I chose this rack after researching THULE, Saris, Yakima, and many, many others. The Kuat NV 2.0 has a professional car quality finish, is ROCK SOLID so the bikes do not move at all, has built in locks, a built in mechanic stand, and never touches your bikes. Do your research and you will arrive at the same conclusion: THERE IS NO BETTER RACK ON THE MARKET!!!

  • Best Bike Rack for Class 1, 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch and E-Bike With Fenders Weighing Over 60 lbs
We do have one solution for you, but using the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # NV12G with your 63 lb E-bike that has fenders is not something I recommend. The first reason is the weight capacity, with the NV 2.0 having a 60 lb per bike capacity, which your bike exceeds. And I supposed the tire tube solution will work if Kuat mentioned it, but I can't imagine that would provide the best support when securing your bike or that your fenders would not be damaged at all. • Compatibility of Kuat NV Bike Rack # NV12G with Curt Class I Hitch on 2010 Mini Cooper Convertible
The Kuat # NV12G is compatible with the Class I hitch used on your Mini Cooper Convertible, and if the weight of each bike is indeed under the 60 lb individual bike weight limit of the rack, the setup you propose should work well for you. I would recommend using something like the Thule Quick Loop, part # TH530 in conjunction with the Curt stabilizing strap, part # 18050. You can close the quick loop in the trunk opening, and connect the hook on the stabilizing strap to the quick loop,...

  • Will Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Fit On 2005 Infiniti FX35
The Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack, # NV12G, will fit your 2005 Infiniti FX35 as long as it is able to clear the rear bumper. You will want to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole rearwards. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier is 10-1/2 inches, so the outer edge of your bumper will need to be that far out for this hitch to work. It also has a tilt-away feature that allows you to access your rear cargo area with the bikes still attached...

  • Will Kuat NV Bike Rack Work On 2008 Infiniti EX35 With 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
There is a quick way to measure to see if your bike rack will fit. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the bumper, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the bumper. I have attached a helpful article that explains how to take the measurement.

  • Recommended Platform Bike Carrier For 2016 Nissan Rogue
Thank you for choosing etrailer.com, for your trailer hitch. The biggest issue with the Transfer is that it would not be able to be folded up. The Rogue has about 5-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole of the Draw-Tite # 75902 to the back of the rear bumper. The Transfer has 5 inches. If you never plan on folding the bike carriers up then either carrier would work for you. The bike carrier I recommend for you is the Kuat NV 2 Bike Platform Rack, part # NV12G. When folded...

  • Will the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack For 2 Inch Hitches Fit a Jeep Wrangler
Yes, the 2 inch version of the NV 2.0 bike rack is part # NV22G. The clearance needed for the NV 2.0 measures 10-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of carrier when in down position and 7 inches when it is folded up. To determine whether this bike rack will work on your vehicles, you will need to take a measurement on each. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to a point just past the spare tire, or any other obstruction you will need to clear....

  • Will the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Fit a 2003 Honda Accord LX 4 door
I do not believe you will have any problem using the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack, # NV12G, on your 2003 Honda Accord LX, but it is always a good idea to measure for clearance before you buy a bike rack to ensure this rack will fit on your vehicle. I cannot guarantee the exact clearance measurement on your specific vehicle, but we have installed a trailer hitch on a similar 2004 Honda Accord and the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the bumper was only 3-1/2...

  • Will Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Clear Rear Bumper of 2012 Honda Accord Coupe
If you were to install the Curt Class I receiver, part # C11085, we have determined that the distance from the hitch pin hole of the hitch to the furthest rearward point of the rear bumper is 3-3/4 inches, which is plenty of room for the Kuat NV 2.0, # NV12G, to fit. The Draw-Tite # 24899 offers 6-1/2 of clearance between the hitch pin hole and the back edge of the bumper. This hitch would provide enough clearance, but not as much as the Curt hitch mentioned above. I recommend going...

  • Fit of Kuat NV and Recommended Hitch for 2010 Mercury Milan
For your 2010 Milan, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24865. The Draw-Tite hitch warranty does not require that a stabilizing strap be used, unlike the Curt hitch. When we installed the same hitch on a 2010 Ford Fusion, we found that when installed, the hitch pin hole to end of rear bumper clearance was 6 inches. When installed, the Kuat NV will have 10-1/2 inches between the hitch pin hole in its shank and 7-7/8 inches between the hitch pin hole and the closest...

  • Recommended Hitch to Carry Bike Rack with 2011 Honda Accord
You've been given a pretty darn nice bike rack...good for you! I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24899. Once the hitch is installed, it'll work great with your bike rack. You can see instructions and install videos by clicking on the links I've provided.

  • Recommended Platform Bike Rack For 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle
For a platform-style bike carrier that will work with your 2005 New Beetle I recommend the Kuat NV, part # NV12G. This bike rack will fit 1-1/4 inch receiver openings. This rack has a weight capacity of 120 lbs or 50 lbs per bike. The rack weighs 49 lbs. This rack also features a locking hitch pin and a cable lock that secures the bikes to the rack. The rack has also got a 3-1/2 inch shank rise. Using a hitch adapter will reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent, and something...

  • How to Carry Electric Bikes With 2010 Toyota Prius & 2018 Kia Soul
Ok, we can get either your 2010 Toyota Prius or 2018 Kia Soul set up to carry electric bikes, but you are correct that there isn't an option for a Class II, 1-1/4 inch hitch for either vehicle. That said, you can still carry your electric bikes, and to do so you have a couple of options. One is to use the Hollywood rack with a 2 inch EcoHitch trailer hitch, OR you can use a different bike rack compatible with the available Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitches. I'll go ahead and list out the...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Compatible Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2020 Mazda 6
The hitches available for a 2020 Mazda 6 are a Class I with a 1-1/4 inch receiver tube. For a Kuat NV 2.0 that will work in that hitch, you'd want to go with either # NV12G in Gunmetal Gray or, # NV12B for Metallic Black. You cannot go wrong with any Kuat bike rack. They make a super-high quality product and their customer service and attention to detail is outstanding. The Draw-Tite # 24908 and the Curt # C11356 have identical capacities and are visually identical, but Curt does a slightly...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a Bike Rack with a 2019 Subaru Forester
As you have probably noted, the main differences between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36671 and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76271 for your 2019 Subaru Forester is that part # 36671 has a 1-1/4" receiver while part # 76271 has a 2" receiver. Aside from that the 2" option has a higher tongue weight capacity at 525 lbs whereas the 1-1/4" option has a 350 lb tongue weight rating. I always recommend going with the 2" receiver when it is available simply because it allows you to use a wider...

  • Trailer Hitch Identification On a 2020 Hyundai Tucson For Bike Rack Options
It would appear that you have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12241 on your 2020 Hyundai Tucson. This is a class II hitch that has a maximum tongue rating of 350lbs. Also the 1-1/4" receiver in your pictures does not have the class I tab as seen in the attached picture. I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # NV12G for your Tucson. The rack will tilt away from your Tucson allowing you access to the rear cargo area. When not carrying bikes you can fold up the carrier...
