Question:

I read your answer on the 50 lb ebike on the sherpa 2.0. being a cautious soul that I am I called Sherpa and they said 40 lb per bike. My e-bike is 46 and my wife is 28. When I calculate torque or moment arm with the heavier bike near the bumper the numbers are actually better than 40 lb on each tray. Was the lady being overly cautious? Thank you

Myself being cautious like you are agree that as the manual and specs say that the weight rating is listed as 40lbs per bike means the maximum weight is 40lbs per bike on the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack # SH12P. Now as your e-bike weighs 46lbs if you have a removable battery or other components that can be removed to get the bike weight under the 40lb maximum you will be safe at that point.

Otherwise you can play it safe with the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # NV12G as it is rated for bikes up to 60lbs each.
