Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a brief look at this GEN-Y anti-rattle clamp for two inch hitch receivers. This anti-rattle device is going to keep your hitch mounted accessory from rattling and swaying inside of your two inch hitch receiver. This is going to work with your ball mounts, your tow bars, and hitch mounted accessories such as your bike racks and cargo carriers. This is going to be a fast and easy installation.

You're just going to slip this clamp over your accessory shank, and then insert the shank into your two inch hitch receiver. And then you're going to tighten these bolts to prohibit movement inside of your hitch receiver. Now this clamp is made here in the USA of a durable steel construction with a black powder coated finish. It's going to help resist rust and corrosion. Again, this is for your two inch hitch receiver, but we also have the same thing for your two and a half inch hitch receiver as well.

So if that one would work better for you, I have the one for your two and a half inch hitch on the screen. Just take the item number and put it in the search field of our website and it will take you to that version. Well that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy.

These Gen-Y clamps make everything rock solid! easy to put on but very hard to steal.

by:

Good price and easy to install and works great.

by:

It works. Budget friendly.

by:

I gave it 3 stars because I didn't have a chance to use it .It arrived late. I absolutely liked the personal response I received from the seller and will do business with them again. I give a 5 star rating to E-Trailer and there personnel.

by:

The bracket looks good on the vehicle and works as advertised. I have zero movement on the trailer hitch after installation.

by:

Nice anti rattle clamp. Was a little worried from the picture that it might be light or flimsy.. Not the case, heavy duty and worked great with the Gen-Y drop hitch.

by:

The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp works great. It stopped the unnerving clunk of the Scooter Carrier on the hitch receiver.

by:

There isn’t much clearance around my receiver or between the receiver and accessory. This fit great and eliminated the wobble. I haven’t had a chance to road test it yet, but my initial impression very good.

by:

It works as advertised!

by:

Haven't had time to install this on my hitch, but I like the common sense design. And as usual, the ordering process and email interaction by staff was excellent. The item took much longer than anticipated to arrive due to the circuitous route the USPS chose. I am a supporter of the Post Office, but I think UPS or FedEx would have done better on delivery due to better routing. Hoping to get to installation sometime today. Thanks to all the staff. It's always a pleasure to do business with you. Keep up the excellent work.

by:

Perfect for Tesla model Y. A little tight with the screws and bottom bumper but it can be done. Very pleased.

by:

Was bent to the point of not being effective after just one or two uses

by:

Works well, looks clean and easy to install. I replaced the zinc plated, self tapping bolts with stainless steel bolts, hoping for greater longevity.

by:

Great quality and does exactly what it says it is supposed to do AAA+++

by:

This fits perfectly on my Tesla Model Y and eliminates the rattle. It is tight, save yourself a lot of hassle and buy a 14mm Stubby Ratcheting Combination Wrench.

by:

Worked as intended, used it to secure my new bike rack from swaying. This works great for not only anti-rattle but has proven to also be great for ant-swaying.

by:

Everything fit perfectly

by:

It doesn’t fit 2 of the vehicles I wanted to use it on.
Have yet to try on the third one.
Might have to return

by:

No matter how handy one might be, the video instructions are much appreciated.

by:

Works as advertised.

by:

Hitch is solid now. I like that the finish matches so it looks like the original hitch and not an add on.

by:

This looked like the perfect solution for anti rattle and looks nice. After a cross country trip the screws were quite loose even though I tightened them down with a powered driver. Bolt heads also are a bit deformed after tightening and where the bolts contact the receiver hitch is marred. I have been considering replacing this with a different one to see if it works any better.

I will admit to not being a huge fan of this style of anti-rattle device. People do seem to like them, but I am much more fond of the Roadmaster # RM-061. It's a pretty simple design, but sometimes that is the best way to go. What accessory do you have in your hitch that you are using this with?

@LazerS I used the Reese cargo rack with the etrailer lockable cage mounted to it. The rack and cage are great.

@Eric Oh nice! How are you liking our cage? It's a newer product and we haven't gotten a whole lot of feedback on it yet. Knowing what you are using it with, I can kind of see why the Gen-Y loosened and deformed. The cage is pretty heavy and, though people do swear by this style, it wouldn't have been the one I recommended. I think the Roadmaster # RM-061 would do a significantly better job and hold up better as well.

@LazerS I love the cage! Was able to put two waterproof Kobalt totes from Lowes in it along with a small gas can and water jug and still had room. We have a 2020 Chevrolet Express 3500 15 passenger van with two Thule Approach L rooftop tents. We bought the cage and cargo rack and tents over time for a trip we planned to take our 6 kids from Colorado to Myrtle Beach,SC to see the grandparents. It was quite an adventure! The two totes held wool blankets and clothing and it was nice to have the peace of mind that they were locked up as we slept in rest areas along the way. I found a wireless magnetic backup camera to help avoid backing into things and would recommend for a vehicle as long as ours is

The Gen Y, anti rattle 2" clamp works great. I installed it on my 2021 Bronco Sport to tow my teardrop camper. Yeah no more rattle and annoying noise.
Works great. After ordering the one touch tracking Trailer uses is amazing. Shows every step in the shipment along the way.
Great experience from Trailer.
Will definitely shop there again when needed.
Please share with employees what a great job they have done.
Thank you.

I'll definitely pass on your kudos with the rest of the team, Brian! I'm glad that the clamp helped eliminate that annoying rattling.

by:

This did exactly what I needed it to do and it's low profile enough to work with the limited space I have. Haven't driven with it yet but I don't forsee any issues.

by:

I applied the Gen-Y Anti Rattle Clamp to my Gen-Y Torsion Flex Hitch. My wife and I tow an RV about 4,300 lbs with our Ford F150 and we are really pleased with the results of the Gen-Y Anti Rattle Clamp. It works as advertised, there is no rattle while towing. I did re-tighten the bolts re-check the bolts every so often to make sure they are tight. Very nice Gen-Y and thank you etrailer.

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Device for a Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack
Thanks for the information Tricia. I have a solution for you but the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers item # GY88XR is not going to be the best option with the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack item # HLY94FR. There's a bit of gap that's going to keep the Gen-Y item # GY88XR from mounting correctly. The best option is going to be the Malone Anti-Rattle HitchLock System item # MPG908. This one has a wider piece of steel that will grab the lip of your hitch's receiver to...

  • Will etrailer Anti-Rattle Device Fit 2020 Toyota Tundra
Hey Blake, we had a customer with a very similar 2020 Toyota Tundra to your 2024 model who let us know that the etrailer anti-rattle part # e38FV fit and worked great for them. See attached picture. We haven't had someone with the Gen-Y # GY88XR come back and let us know if it worked for them yet. I don't see why it wouldn't though.

  • Will etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar Fit 2025 Tesla Model Y
Hi Tom, welcome back! As far as I can tell that space is just too tight for the etrailer # e38FV. Even if you installed it sideways one of the screws would be inaccessible. We have at least one person who has used it in a similar space, but it looks like it is a larger opening than the one on the 2025 Model Y. For an option that will fit I recommend the Gen-Y # GY88XR. You can see this on another Gen-Y in the photo below. What are you carrying with your hitch?

  • Device to Prevent Movement of Bike Rack in Trailer Hitch
Hey Ken, movement in the hitch like what you described is unfortunately pretty common but we have solutions for this with anti-rattle devices like the Gen-Y part # GY88XR. This will tighten up the connection between the bike rack and the hitch to get rid of the movement. Also, your bike rack might have a device like this built in so you might check for that. What bike rack do you have?

  • Does Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp Work With 2 Inch Trailer Hitch on Ford F-150
The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR is actually designed to fit over the shank of a ball mount or accessory that fits into a 2-inch trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch # C86HR that fits certain model year Ford F-150's and F-150 Raptors. So, the short answer is yes, the clamp will absolutely work with the hitch, but it does not go around the lip, it will actually go into the receiver and then you'll tighten it. • How to Prevent Hitch Pin Hole Deformity
It is not extremely uncommon for the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver to become oblong after frequent usage. This is usually attributed to frequent back and forth movement of the shank inside the receiver tube opening that in time will deform the hitch pin hole. A good way to prevent or reduce this would be to use an anti-rattle device like part # GY88XR. Since the hitch pin hole on your existing trailer hitch has become deformed then I do recommend replacement as the problem...

  • Availability of 2" to 1-1/4" Reducer With Built-In Rise for Bike Rack
Hi LDJ; we have reducers like the # e63YR but none with a built in rise. What you can do is pair it with Gen-Y stacked receivers like the # 325-GH-303 with a 5" rise/drop or # 325-GH-304 with a 7-1/2" rise/drop. The design prevents any reduction in hitch capacity like other adapters and will get you the extra clearance. The Gen-Y is pretty solid but I recommend using an anti-rattle like # GY88XR to help reduce unwanted movement as you add more parts to your bike rack setup.

Hi David; this may actually be possible but it will definitely be a close call. The closest part of the rack from the center of the hitch pin hole on the EXO is 4-1/4". However, that is not where the box actually sits. If you take a look at the installation video below the back edge of the box is 12-1/2" out from the bumper of that RAV4. • Recommended Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" and 2 1/2" Hitches
Hey Dan, congrats on the new Tacoma! When you say different, what do you mean exactly? The Gen-Y # GY28XR you're referring to is for 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" hitches so the new Tacoma could have a 2" x 2" hitch, which is why it doesn't work. If that's the case, then you'd just need the Gen-Y # GY88XR, which is the same thing as the one you tried already - but is just for 2" hitches. Hi Tom; the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 you were looking at is going to be the best option. However, you will need to make sure your setup doesn't exceed the 400 lb max tongue weight of the extender. You also need to be aware of the fact that a hitch extender reduces the capacity of your hitch by 50%. The nice thing about the Gen-Y stacked receivers is they are so well built it doesn't reduce your tongue weight capacity like a traditional adapter would. That said, even if it were to fit it would likely not reduce wobble any more than the threaded hitch pin included with the bike rack. • How to Reduce Wobble when Using Curt Cargo Carrier C18145 in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Hitch accessories tend to wobble, especially those that use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter. The threaded hitch pin can only do so much to combat the movement. The issue is that the shank of the accessory has to be slightly smaller than the opening otherwise it would be difficult to insert and remove the accessory. That combined with the single attachment point and width of a cargo carrier means that even the smallest gap between shank and receiver seems huge at either end of the carrier. What...
