Recommended Anti-Rattle Device for a Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack

Updated 04/24/2025 | Published 04/19/2025

Question:

Hi. We have a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid with the factory installed hitch with 2” receiver. Just purchased the Hollywood Destination 2 bike rack. There is lots of play when this bike rack is mounted on our hitch via the 2” adapter included with the bike rack. Will this product work to combat the wobble?

Thanks for the information Tricia. I have a solution for you but the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers item # GY88XR is not going to be the best option with the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack item # HLY94FR. There's a bit of gap that's going to keep the Gen-Y item # GY88XR from mounting correctly.

The best option is going to be the Malone Anti-Rattle HitchLock System item # MPG908. This one has a wider piece of steel that will grab the lip of your hitch's receiver to tightly secure it and your bike rack. You'll then tighten down the bolts to keep your bike rack stable in the receiver.

If you have any additional questions go ahead and throw them into the comment box below.

Thank you Jared. Good to know there is a product that will work. I assume maybe that this product below won’t work or you would have mentioned it (it looks easier to take on and off than the Malone brand one. e38FV

@TriciaC The etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers item # e38FV is quite a bit easier to use but it's not going to work well with the slight lip on the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack item # HLY94FR. Do you know the specific part number of your Destination bike rack. There are a couple of different options and if you have the one that only fits a 2" hitch and not both the 1-1/4" and 2" then I would recommend using the etrailer item # e38FV.

@JerredH Hi. The part number on our rack is item number HR4200. It has the adapter that allows it to fit both a 1 1/4” and a 2” receiver.

@TriciaC Yeah that's what I thought. That little lip that sticks out of the receiver is going to be just enough to keep you from being able to use the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers item # e38FV. I'm going to stick with my original recommendation of the Malone Anti-Rattle HitchLock System item # MPG908.
