Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Unbelievable quality!I did the install with my father-in-law and it was relatively straightforward. The only hitch (no pun intended) was that we had to file down the bolt plate to fit on our BMW X5.The hitch itself does not protrude from the bumper too much and looks great. We primarily use it for a 1 UP bike rack, but we also attached a trailer recently to transport a swingset we purchased. The hitch was strong and secure and no issues with receiving a trailer ball. I'd highly recommend this product - both look and functionality!

Product has been awesome after a year. WE primarily use it to attach a quality bike rack on the back. However, I needed to rent a low bed trailer to move a giant wooden playhouse and the hitch was perfectly compatible and did the job. Very high quality. No signs of wear or rust. Very happy!

Great job on a complex installation. Free installation on my BMW X5 is something I will never forget. I have been happy to tell others about my experience at etrailer. Thanks again.

That is great to hear! I am glad we were able to get it taken care of for you, and hope you come back in the future! What are you planning on using the hitch for?

by:

The trailer hitch came with chipped paint which I needed to fix myself. I called customer service and they suggested I fix it with some spray paint and offered my a nominal $ credit for the paint. I went this route and made the repairs myself. I ended up spending a lot of my time which is worth much more than that. I also had an appointment scheduled to attach the hitch to my vehicle and needed to rush the repair before that. In the end the trailer hitch has lasted through the winter and extensive use. The product is good, but perhaps the shipping company was at fault, but ultimately the vendor could have offered more to compensate me for my inconvenience.

2022 BMW X5

The manufacturer says not to install this on an X5 with the M Sport package but I did and had zero issues.

by:

Works well on install I had to cut some off the bumper frame otherwise perfect

by:

Trailer hitch hangs down 3 to 4 inches lower than the factory BMW hitch. Receiver portion of the hitch also points down slightly: it should be level to the ground or point up slightly. I installed a bicycle carrier rack in the hitch: the hitch was so low it caused the bicycle tires to drag the ground occasionally. Hitch needs to be re-designed

by:
2020 BMW X5

The price is right and the shipping speed was good. However, the packaging of the hitch was poor. The hitch was in a large box with no packing material to prevent the hitch from moving around in the box. The hitch has several locations where the paint/coating was damaged in shipping (due to no packing material). Bare metal is now exposed.

Outstanding service. I needed a trailer hitch for a brand new 2020 BMW X5 - cannot get it installed thru BMW (only if I ordered the car with trailer hitch - which I didn't). Researched on etrailer.com and found the exact part with instructions. The hitch was delivered on-time - speedy as well. Took it down to the auto shop and they installed without issue - looks just like factory. Extremely happy with etrailer.com. Thanks guys and gals!

Got for my 2021 x5 (G05). My installer was able to install without any issues. It does block the kick to open tailgate feature, but that’s what I expected from a fixed hitch.

by:

Works great, look great on my BMW X5 I had a body shop install it because it is complicated on a BMW no lights just for bike rack well worth it.

Third hitch purchased from etrailer. Product as described, fast delivery, and quality hitch

by:

Have not installed yet. Initial thoughts are that design, welds and machining are spot on. I did have several large portions of powder coating that flaked off completely to bare metal. This was largely due to packing and shipping.

by:

This was the only hitch that fit my car, yet you stocked it. Web info prior to purchase was complete and accurate. Ordering was simple. Pricing was extremely fair and delivery was amazingly prompt. There was even follow up to ensure that the product had been delivered and was in good shape as promised. Excellent experience! Would definitely do business with this company again!

by:

Great customer service as always. This is my third trailer hitch purchase from e-trailer. Thank you for being exceptional in your knowledge and professionalism.

A very pleased customer.

Received the hitch today, installed it today. Why only 4 stars? The printed documentation wasn't complete as compared to the PDF available on line and the photos printed in b/w were too small and almost useless. Other than that, everything fit once I figured out how it was supposed to fit and the hitch is quality so I'm happy.

by:

Perfect hook for trailer. Would purchase again - came quickly too!!

by:

Great customer service on the phone helping me decide the correct hitch for my car. 2 day delivery. Thanks !!

  • Does Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2019 BMW X5 Require Bumper Fascia Trimming
Yes, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76288 that fits your 2019 BMW X5 does require some trimming of the bumper fascia, though it is not going to be noticeable. As you can see by the cut out of the linked directions, the fascia will need to be trimmed in a 3-3/4" x 4" section, and you can do this easily with just a utility knife.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2020 BMW X5
The trailer hitch that you'll need to use for your 2020 BMW X5 is the Draw-Tite # 76288. It is currently (as of November 2019) the only trailer hitch fit available for your X5 (excluding the M performance model) but it is still an excellent option because it has the larger 2" receiver and features a hidden cross tube. This combination means that you can carry a wide variety of accessories while maintaining an OEM look since only the 2" receiver is visible once installed. If you let me...

  • What Usually Causes Trailer Sway at 55 mph
Hey Joanie, the two biggest causes for trailer sway at the speed you mentioned is not enough tongue weight relative to total trailer weight or the trailer is sitting too nose high. So first check to make sure the trailer is sitting as level as possible and then move as much cargo weight in the trailer as forward as possible if you can. Since most everything in a camper is fixed it's more likely that your trailer is sitting nose high but either way let me know and we can check some other...

Hey Mario, that's an interesting observation but yes it is a personal preference thing. Sometimes our guys find easier or quicker way to install hitches like the Draw Tite part # 76288 that fits your 2020 BMW X5. Other times they do extra steps just to make the footage easier to see. So they might remove more panels than needed so that it gives a better viewing angle of where the action is taking place. • Does Adding a Weight Distribution System Increase a Hitch's Gross Tongue Weight Capacity
A weight distribution system does not increase a hitch's tongue weight capacity. Rather, it takes weight off of the tongue, helping loads stay stable and level. In other words, if you use a trailer without a weight distribution system with a tongue weight that is just under the hitch's gross tongue weight capacity, it can cause the rear of your vehicle to sag. The weight distribution system evens things out by re-distributing weight across all the axles of the towing setup. I've linked...
