Question:

I was planning to purchase the Draw Tite hitch for my BMW X5. I plan to use the hitch primarily for my bikes. I am concerned about a review that states his bike tires were near the ground or dragging. Is this true? Is Draw Tite the only option other Stealth?

I would be happy to help you and answer your questions. I read that review and checked with Draw-Tite it looks like that problem is an isolated incident. It sounds like there was either a manufacturer defect or more likely an error made during installation that would have caused the receiver to angle downwards. I have attached a picture of this hitch receiver installed on a 2020 BMW X5. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver and is designed to hide the crosstube so all you see is the receiver itself. That is why it hangs down below the bumper trim. Please note if you have an M performance model this will not fit and there are no other options. I hope this clarifies your concern about ground clearance.

Yes, there are only 2 manufacturer options for hitch receivers for the 2020 BMW X5. I recommend the Draw-Tite item # 76288 over the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver item # SH89VR. The Draw-Tite has a maximum tongue weight of 720 lbs over the Stealth which is at 600 lbs. You may not want to tow with your BMW X5 currently but down the road you will be able to with the Draw-Tite, the Stealth you won't be able to.
