Fit perfectly. Challenging to hold in place while threading the bolts - ended up lying on my back , pushing the bar up into position like a bench press, then holding it in place with my legs/ feet , and sliding the screws in with my fingers when i had the holes lined up. I imagine there are easier ways to do it. An hour after i started, i was done with the hitch and watching the video on the wire harness. Result looks great and maybe only losing a little clearance- like an inch below muffler on rav4.

That's awesome, R! I don't think I have ever heard of anyone using all four limbs to install a hitch before - more power to you!

Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"
Part Number: C77MJ for 2025 Rav4 Hybrid XLE

Box had several holes where hitch poked through box. Some scuffing and paint worn off, but no real damage. It does fit well.
Accessory wiring package ordered with it was crushed and parts were loose in box, but no damage. Could have lost pieces. Hitch seems ok, just a little scratched where sticking through packaging. Accessories should have been taped to box in a safe location.

Installation was not bad. Next to impossible to fit in place without elevating car. Ramps make it so much easier if you don’t have a lift. If you have the patience to fit and remove before installing, you can check to see if the heat shield for the muffler needs to be bent out of the way. In my case, the center rear of the shield sits hard on the hitch. I don’t think it will rattle. Two people make it much easier.
Passenger side bolts have just enough room to fit the bolts in place. Not sure I can get a torque wrench in there without a “crowfoot” socket.

It does seem to hang down low, but there is still a little more ground clearance than the undercarriage of my 2025 Rav4 Hybrid. The top of the receiver hole is about 12-13” high on a Hybrid Rav4.

Watch eTrailer video. It is instructive.

Lexus

Installed this hitch (Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # C77MJ) on a 2025 Lexus NX350 AWD. The hitch fit perfectly and looks great. This hitch will primarily be used to attach a bike rack to the car. The installation was preformed in my driveway and no helping hands, just me and a floor jack. After raising the rear of the car about 6 1/2 inches, lowering the exhaust, I sat the hitch on a floor jack and rolled it under the car. I rolled the jack forward and raised the hitch into position, installed the four bolts and conical washers, then torqued to spec. Start to finish was about 1 1/2 hours. I really like the hidden crossbar. ((Bonus)) The rear gate kick sensor still works!!!

2024 Toyota RAV4

Perfect fit and extremely easy to install. Literally 4 bolts and you’re done. Toyota RAV4 also makes it easy by placing stickers over the bolt holes so debris doesn’t get in. Just pop them off and line up the bolt holes. One man job and did it in about 30 min with a floor jack helping hold up the hitch as I lines up the holes. No need to remove exhaust. Drivers side is easy to torque but passenger has very little room to get a torque wrench and socket so a crowsfoot or extension is needed but no big issues.

by:

Fast shipping at a great cost. Trailer hitch was easy to install at home on driveway. Did use a floor jack to lift and hold the hitch as bolts were installed.

by:
2024 Toyota RAV4

My husband and I watched the installation video a couple times, then we installed it in about 40 minutes. Once we got the car on jack stands, we used the floor jack to help support the hitch weight as we moved it into place. That was a huge help, and when we got one bolt in each side, we rocked it into place with the jack. It helped when we were trying to align those last two holes. It looks great! The fit was perfect. Our first order with e-trailer, and it was a great experience!

by:

Installed on my wife's '24 Lexus NX350h.
Shipping box was a bit beat up, but that was expected from reviews I read. A couple of scuffs on the hitch were hidden up under the car so not a problem.
Simple ordering process and hitch was delivered exactly as promised.
Excellent fit and finish. It was tricky getting the hitch up under the car, but I didn't need to lower the muffler.
All hardware was there and in perfect shape. I was able to torque the bolts with no problem-plenty of room under this particular car. The tow loop did have to be removed. The whole process took about an hour.
The hitch will be used for a bike rack. Overall very easy and an excellent product.

2023 Toyota Venza

Arrived quickly. THe hitch was sticking out of the box in a few spots but no damage. It aas fairly easy to install but required a 19mm box wrench for my 2023 Toyota Venza. There is very little space on the passenger side and the rachet/torque wrench would not fit. I am only using it for a small cargo carrier but it seems sturdy enough for a small trailer.

by:
2019 Toyota RAV4

You’re going to want some ratcheting wrenches, one of the connections is TIGHT, maybe only on the hybrid rav4. Anywho, to keep it level when I installed it, I put the hitch on a jack on one side and lifted the other, threaded the side I was holding, then threaded the jack side. Then tightened everything to spec. Worked like a charm! Maybe an hour to install.

by:
2025 Toyota RAV4

I installed it alone so had to figure out how to elevate it into place so the front bolts could be attached on either side, so the assembly could be swung back up to insert the rear bolts. I used two large Preen containers and three stacked 2x4's on each side to get the assembly into position. Not too difficult. Note: To properly tighten the passenger side bolts, you CANNOT find a 3/4 inch crows foot for a half-inch drive torque wrench. You must use a 3/8inch drive torque wrench to get a 3/4 inch crows foot.

The hitch looks great installed ! Very sleek and easy to install !

Had it done by a local shop recommended by etrailer, total install maybe 45 minutes !

2025 Toyota RAV4

Installed on a 2025 Rav4 Hybrid XLE

Works
great! Used to install a 1Up superduty rack with a heavy duty addon, to carry a trek navigator 200 and an aventon abound. Felt solid during a test run. No issues with ground clearance, at least not yet, but the rack angles upwards so I believe it will be good

Install was easy in my opinion, though it took me 2 to 3 hours, largely because I did not know what I was doing. I plan on uninstalling it in the winter and then putting it back on next year, I expect it will only take me .5 to 1 hour then. I managed to install the receiver by myself without lifting the vehicle. I did need to lower the exhaust to get it on. The torque wrench and 19mm socket were sufficient for the driver's side bolts, but on the passenger side I needed to pick up a 19mm torque adapter as the space was too tight

by:
2025 Toyota RAV4

Nice hitch, quality is top notch! Was able to avoid dragging my ramps out and didn't have to lower the exhaust. With the car in the ground, my jack stands worked perfectly to hold in place so I didn't need a second person. Was installed in under 1/2 hour.

Only tricky part I ran into, is I couldn't get a 1/2 torque wrench adapted to a 3/8 crowfoot to fit in the tight space so I had to use my 3/8 torque wrench which maxes at 80 ft lbs. did the job but ideally you'll want a 1/2 drive crowfoot or a crowfoot with a little longer reach as pictured in the instructions. If your 3/8 maxes at 100 ft lbs you'll be fine with that as well.

It slightly more exposed as all the non-oem hitches are only because the oem requires cutting away bumper material. Not worth twice the cost and hassle imo.

by:

The hitch was damaged when it was delivered. The box that it was shipped in was totally inadequate! There were four holes punctured through the corrugated box, the right side arm of the hitch was bent. We were able to straighten the bend and installation was completed. We will use this hitch primarily for a bike carrier.

by:

Hitch fit my 2022 Rav 4 perfect, and looks great. Easy install. Highly recommend.

by:

Install was super easy. Rolled rear tires on car ramps and had plenty of clearance.

Had to permanently remove the factory installed tow hook from the passenger side. Hitch would not mount with the tow hook in place - only took two bolts to remove tow hook. Prior commenter noted same issue.

First this is the 4th trailer hitch purchased from etrailer and is always a great experience however I have yet to receive one that did not have a damaged box. Second I am fond og the Curt trailer hitch they always make a quality product. As for this specific trailer hitch took longer to remove from the box then install it. 15minutes from start to finish.

When it comes to hitches, Curt is one of the best! Also just based on reviews I have personally read, this might be a new record for how fast you were able to install it. Do you do this type of work all the time?

by:
2019 Toyota RAV4

Perfect fit on my 2019 Toyota RAV4. No raising the vehicle or dropping the exhaust was necessary. Removed stickers from threaded holes on frame. Used cardboard box to support the hitch in center so I could get under it and then used my foot to hold it up on one end while I started bolts on other side. Swapped sides and started the bolts. Torqued all the bolts. Completed in 25 minutes.

by:
2025 Toyota RAV4

This is truly a no-drill installation. Toyota was awesome enough to weld in 4 threaded nuts for the installation of a trailer hitch.

I did not have to lower the exhaust. However, I did have to remove the original RAV4 recovery bracket to install the hitch. This was easily done by removing 2 bolts with 16mm heads. Remove the bracket and reinstall the 2 bolts to prevent dirt/salt from entering the holes. I suggest storing the bracket somewhere in case you ever remove the hitch. The hitch can be used for recovery in place of the bracket.

The only difficult part was tightening and then torquing the 2 bolts on the passenger side. This requires a crows foot wrench to be used with the torque wrench. At 86 ft-lbs, it can be challenging keeping the crows foot on the bolt head. Laying in the grass under the vehicle did not make it easier, but I managed to get it done.

Installed on my 2025 RAV4 HEV, this hitch looks really great. It hangs below the rear bumper just a bit. We intend to use it primarily for a bicycle rack, but it may occasionally tow a small kayak or garden trailer.

by:

Looks great on my new car!

Install went great. Had a buddy help me which made it a whole lot easier. Only took about 20 minutes. We used ramps to get some clearance which was critical.

Perfect fit for my 2024 RAV4 Prime. Seems sturdy and well-made. Installed it myself with the help of the car jack and a steep driveway. Didn't have to loosen the exhaust pipes or trim the bumper. The trunk kick sensor still works decently (it was already finicky before installing the hitch receiver anyway). As mentioned in other reviews, packaging must be improved. Got mine with a few minor scratches, easily fixed with a bit of spray paint.

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2024 Toyota Rav4 that Does Not require Cutting into the Bumper
Hi Stephanie! Great question and you’re totally right to ask, because most hitches for the 2024 RAV4 do require a bit of bumper trimming. That includes the Oris Detachable Hitch #TS66VR, since it uses a hidden design that needs a hole cut in the fascia for the receiver to come through. If you’d rather skip the cutting, I’d recommend going with the Curt Class 3 Hitch #C77MJ. It bolts right to the frame and sits neatly under the bumper no trimming required. It's not completely concealed...
