Is Lowering Exhaust Required to Install Hitch on 2022 Toyota RAV4

Does this trailer hitch receiver attach to Toyota rav4 without trimming or lowering exhaust?

Hey Julie, to install the Curt hitch part # C77MJ you do need to lower the exhaust of your 2022 Toyota RAV4. This is a very standard step for hitch installs that it's almost required. As someone who has done it a few times it's also not that difficult either.

There is no trimming required to install the hitch though.

Thank you for the reply. Do you have a recommendation of an exhaust tip that would work with this rack on a 2022 RAV4? If I understand correctly, to lower the exhaust, one would remove the existing tip and use another that fits the vehicle but accommodates the rack. Is this correct?

@JulieM You do not have to change any exhaust components during the lower the exhaust step for the install. Maybe you are thinking you need to use a different exhaust hanger but that is not the case. Basically you pry the rubber hangers off the exhaust that attach it to the vehicle and then allow the exhaust to lower down a few inches so that you can fit the hitch above it.
