Updated 08/06/2025 | Published 08/01/2025

Question:

I am looking for the bumper clearance on the 2021 RAV4 LE for Part Number: C77MJ. Can you supply that? Thanks.

Hi Craig, I can supply that. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper on the # C77MJ is approximately 3-1/4". If you want the clearance it is 12" from the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube.

What do you plan on using the hitch for?

@CraigE that is a nice bike rack! The closest part of the # KU98VR when folded down is 10-1/8" and when folded up is 6-3/8" so you should have plenty of room.

Is there any other Class III, 2" hitch with better clearance?

@RobinH So less up, but more when down? Would you know what the clearance on a Curt 13410 on a 2019 Subaru Outback Outback Limited 2.5i. This car was totaled this spring and I am trying to replicate our old setup, which worked very well, on the new (used) 2021 RAV4. Thanks for all the help.

@CraigE sorry I rushed that and really wasn't thinking. 4" makes it further away from the edge of the bumper so it isn't a better option. The Curt on the Outback was 15" of ground clearance and 3" from the edge of the bumper so comparable to the # C77MJ on the RAV4 here. Only a 1/4" off on the distance to the edge of the bumper. I highly doubt ground clearance is an issue unless you're going up an incredibly steep drive.
