This extension ensures you can clear spare tires and other rear-mounted obstructions effortlessly. Plus, the fact that you can trim it down to 41" means you can optimize it for your specific needs, whether it's towing a trailer or mounting a bike rack.

Reese did a very good job designing the 48" hitch extension. It is more substantial than I expected and it's load capacities are probably understated with good reserve margin for safety.

Etrailer's service was exellent in all respects inclusive of product description, ease of ordering, exellent pricing, even better shipping and responsiveness, and perhaps best of all outstanding follow-up.

I will be a repeat customer and highly recomend this company as a goto company for all your trailer needs. They obviously care about providing first class service and products.

Very well made it’s just the ticket with my 10 2 truck camper.

by:

Just received the 41/48 inch hitch extension today so haven’t actually used it. However, one can tell the high quality by looking at the welds and thick paint coating. This item is extremely heavy. I expected some weight to it, but it surprised me. Also, the tubing has very tight tolerances. I have two ball mounts, neither of which slid into the extension on their own. I had to pound them in and tap them out with a 3 pound hammer. Once paint and labels were scraped away by this action the ball mounts were able to be slid in by hand. This extension will be used on my dually carrying my truck camper. I’ll be towing an aluminum trailer with a Can Am Spyder. Total weight towed will be less than 2000 pounds so I don’t expect the extension to be subjected to any stress.

The hitch extender worked as expected. I towed the light weight aluminum trailer with the Can Am Spyder with approximately 200lb tongue weight. I only used the standard safety chains. I didn’t think I needed any chain tensioners. The setup worked perfectly. The longest towing distance was from Georgia to Arkansas and back. No issues whatsoever.

by:

I purchased the hitch extension to accomendate our bike rack to go on the back of our truckcamper. I also purchased the bike rack and steps at all work perfectly together. The extension is very heavy duty and can be used for towing a boat. The only con was not the extension it was the packageing it beat itself up. I also added turnbuckles and safety chain and electrical extension.

by:

I ordered this from etrailer and it was fast and simple. I got it within days. I think this will work well with my pickup camper and trailer combo. The only problem I had was that there was too much paint on it. So much so that it would not fit into my receiver. I am sure they are mass produced, but they should have someone put a micrometer on them once in awhile. I have a 2018 Ram 3500 with a 2 1/2 inch receiver. I tried a friends exact same extension and it slid in easily. Oh, well. I made it work anyways.

by:

Not sure what other people are talking about but the holes all lined up perfectly and the 48” tube steel fit perfectly with very little movement. That can be remedied with a simple hitch clamp but I don’t think I need it. Very solid with some weight to it. Adding the wire extension the holes also in perfect alignment. I chose to order direct from the website, I feel I will get the best product and customer service. Expensive but much needed to haul my trailer with truck camper. Always great stuff from etrailer.

by:

Product was shipped promptly and in excellent condition. All of the information regarding this product was very helpful, especially the video. I was worried that I needed a heavy duty hitch system but after watching the informational video, I was sure this would work for my set up for towing.

by:

Extension is very heavily built. Had a little trouble getting it in the hitch on my 2019 F-350. Hoping it was due to new paint and the cold weather making the hitch slightly smaller.

48" Titan hitch box extension on 2011 F-350 Dually

Fits in the truck but drawbar doesn't fit in the extension without grinding, no big deal just disappointed

by:

Excellent service!

response rate!
Exactly what I needed for my camper.

by:

This is very heavy duty. When I installed it on my Ford F350 the end of the extension bar hit the spare tire when it went thru the receiver and the pin hole was about a 1/4 hole off. I had to trim the end about 1" to make it so it would clear the spare tire.

Hitch extension was a bit loose in the receiver which is typical and expected. I bought a hitch clamp to take care of the play and everything works fine.

After a year the hitch extension is still working great. As I said before I added a hitch clamp as the extension was loose in receiver - without this the trailer would be bouncing up and down a lot. It is a solid piece of metal and weighs quite a bit. I am only pulling a drift boat so this hitch extension works great because the trailerboat weight is less than 800 lbs. There is a limit to tongue weight for this extension so be aware of this and know what your actual trailer weights are. Overall I am very happy.

by:

I give this 5 stars for its robust design and functionality. It was not an easy install though. The 5/8" pin hole on my hitch did not line up very well with the pin hole on this hitch extension. In all fairness, it could have been my hitch, although other extenders I tried did line up...We use this to tow a 4000 lb jeep behind a truck camper with a 2016 Ram 3500 dually.

This hitch extension is still working great. We have used it to tow our jeep over 25,000 miles with no problems.

by:

I never received this part. This item received does not have a chrome cap, nor is there a dust cap provided. The part shown online has a chrome plated tip and a cap in the end to prevent debris from entering the hitch. The box was too weak to hold that heavy of an item, being torn open and re-taped shut in several places. There should be corrugate cushioning on the end caps of the box and partitions places to center the part. The protrusions welded along the length of the part punched thought the box. No way this box was designed for this heavy of a part.

To achieve the 41 inch extension you will need to cut this 6 inches behind the pin hole when trimming.

by:

very happy now.

the first product
i received would not fit my hitch. the flange on the extension was not perfectly aligned and my curt brand solid steel hitch would not enter at all. i have some hollow reese hitches (which are just a hair thinner) and they fit but it was misaligned just enough that the curt brand hitch would not go in. on top of that problem, the product was terribly damaged from shipping.

i was upset and intended on cutting the bar to remove the flange until coincidentally etrailer customer service reached out to me unprompted. after i explained the problem, they very quickly provided a return label and shipped a new replacement product.

the new extension works perfect and it was shipped without one scratch on it. very happy now.

by:

I am very happy with this item. I use it on my truck
When I travel with my truck camper and want to tow my boat
It fits the factory receiver on my F 350 and works fine for my boat or just to add my bike rack behind the camper. It is a heavy duty unit and I would recommend it for similar uses.

by:

Very robust. I cut it to the length I needed and fit perfect. Received product within 3 days of ordering. I have felt with e trailer before and always with outstanding results. Thanks e trailer
