put it on the back of my Jayco bumper for a bike rack and it works gr8..

by:

Works well, saving me from modifying my trailer.

by:

Holes did not line up properly due to how it is welded. Returned item as it seemed to be defective.

by:

This product will serve my purpose perfectly. I searched for a solid shank on an hitch extender and etrailer provided me with multiple options. I was especially pleased that the solid shank extended 3 inches into the hollow 2”x2” receiver for additional strength. etrailer always comes through.

I have been using this as an extension for a Yakima bike rack (2 bikes) for the last year on my 1999 Super Duty. This has been one of the sturdiest parts of the truck camper setup. We have had trouble with the step down on the camper, so we use this more often than that! Only the slightest sway when driving but it has held its own with no rusting or bending. The sticker has even stayed on!

by:

Extremely helpful if you have a trailer with a short hitch. I was concerned that it may cause trouble when driving, but it is working great.

by:

My husband had been looking for one of these hitches for some time and could not find one locally. I tried Amazon and the company could not say when it would be shipped. After more than a week I did a search and found you guys and ordered it expecting it this coming Wednesday. To our surprise and delight, it is exactly what he has been looking for and we received it two days early! Thank you so much for such prompt service and having what we needed!

by:

Works great! Allows us to carry our golf cart and our small camper!

by:

Perfect extension for my bike rack to fold up properly while not transporting a bike.

by:

Ordered this to fit with an eTrailer hitch for my Rav4. This was recommended as the correct extender by live chat support. Does not fit. Will not line up for the bolt to engage threads in the receiver. Also the lock is very wiggly and does not hold the extender firmly in the receiver. Super disappointed.

by:

This hitch extender is very heavy duty, fits well, and appears to have a durable finish on it.

The SHIPPING WAS HORRIBLE. The box was torn completely open on one end and there was nothing to keep the hitch extender from falling out of the box. Luckily there were no other parts in the box or they would be gone.

by:

Our hitch extender came quickly after ordering and has operated exactly as we wanted. Solid build quality and heavy duty enough to hold up for years to come.

by:

Seems to be solid and sturdy. It served the purpose to extend my bike rack so the hatchback could open. Thank you

by:

I would definitely give these items and more importantly your sales and service. 5 stars
My new F150 has a taller tailgate and the hitch receiver is farther under the bumper than my old ‘06 F250. It is also a little higher off the ground.
One picture shows how the tailgate hits tongue Jack on my utility trailer.
The ball was 8” from the receiver. The extension and new 4” drop ball mount move the ball to 14”.
So now the tailgate can open completely. Of course I needed to lengthen the chains and wiring pigtail. The trailer is only rated for 2900 lbs so it won’t exceed the decrease in load rating.

by:

I have purchased trailer hitches for my last 3 vehicles. All bought on etrailer.com. I appreciate the high level of customer service !

by:

When you place your order items aren't always in stock as implied..shipping is slow. Don't order think they will ship in a couple days like most places...fortunately I did not need right away....last time my item was weeks out and was not told until I called inquiring it's status.

by:

Great product on time delivery

by:

Just the right addition to give that extra load balance for longer loads on shorter trailers. Totally satisfied!

by:

Etrailer has come through again with a product that was priced reasonably and most of all COMPLETED our search for our hitch!

by:

Quick delivery, works exactly as expected. No issues.

by:

It looks good and I'm sure will work well. It does what I wanted

by:

excellent quality - size (8") unusual but perfect for my application

  • Availability of 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Reducer With 11 Inch Extension
The closest thing we have to an all in one reducer and hitch extender is the # e53YR you looked at which is too short. To get an 11" extension you can use a reducer sleeve like the # e26YR and then add an extender on top of it. If this is just for a bike rack you could use the # HE6000 which is adjustable out to 11". If you plan on using this for towing, the closest size would be the # e28YR which is a 13-13/16" extension. Keep in mind, the use of any extender will reduce your hitch capacity...

  • Can You Use Hitch Extender with Carpod Cargo Carrier for Hatch Clearance
In regards to using a hitch extender like the etrailer Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches part # e28YR, you'll need to reduce the weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50%. For example, if you're using a trailer hitch with a 350 lb tongue weight rating your new rating with the adapter will be 175 lbs which includes the weight of the cargo and carrier. If you need to maintain your hitches weight capacity you can switch to a swing-away carrier like the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed...

  • Can I Use The Yakima EXO With A Hitch Extension On A 2023 Ford Bronco With Spare Tire On The Back?
Hello David, great question. You cannot use an 18" hitch extension with the Yakima EXO System # Y82VR. The EXO can only be used with the Yakima StraightShot 2" hitch extender # Y69VR. This extension is 7-1/4" long, and will not clear your spare tire. The EXO system cannot be used with any other hitch extension, so I do not recommend that you use this on your 2023 Bronco unless you remove the spare tire. One option is to use a cargo carrier like the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2"...

  • 24 inch Hitch Extender Recommendation for 1991 Dodge Ram D350
It's not safe to use more than one hitch extender at a time but I do have a solution for you. Since 24 inches is really long for a hitch extender you'd have to go with a Torklift style extender like the part # TLE1524 which will require you to install a Torklift double hitch on your 1991 Dodge Ram D350 like with the # TLF1000 and you'd be set. I realize this is a much more expensive route but it's the only way to pull off what you are looking for and be safe.

  • What Hitch Extension Is Needed For Carrying E-Bikes Behind a 2023 Ford Bronco On 1Up Bike Carrier?
Using a 18" Extension # e48YR is most likely going to extend the bike rack much further than what you are needing. If your 2023 Ford Bronco does not come with a receiver we do have the Draw-Tite # DT37GR which is specifically designed longer. This will place the hitch pin center hole 3-1/2" behind the rear bumper which better allows for hitch mounted accessories to clear the rear tire. A Curt Receiver # C76WR which is more like the factory option places the hitch pin hole 3" in on the rear...

  • Recommended Hitch Extender for a 2005 Chevy Roadtrek 210 w/ a Spare Tire
Yes, it will! The Trailer Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches item # e28YR fits 2" hitch receivers and extends out 13-13/16". I recommend verifying with your bike rack's manufacturer that the rack itself is approved for use with hitch extenders. Please note that the Trailer Hitch Extender item # e28YR will reduce your hitches capacities by 50%. This is common amongst all hitch extenders due to the distance past the vehicle the connection point is moved out to.
