@Neil What were your plans for the adapter?

by:

Needed to move our bike rake back so we could open the door on our topper while the bikes were on the rack and it was just enough to do that to make it easier on our vacation to get in the back

by:

reducer is fine. I wonder how a third hole would affect the integrity of the extender. I would be nice to be slightly closer to the truck, but working just fine. Have ordered a stabilizer/anti rattle bracket for a 2.5 inch

by:

Great product

by:

Needed an adapter that would work for my bike rack and this was perfect option that isn’t that common. Thanks!

by:

Just what I needed for my 2.5in receiver to attach my 2in bike rack!

by:

Works as described. I use this on my 2500HD when using my Thule bike rack since the OEM hitch receiver is to big.

by:

Item was exactly as described, good quality and a perfect fit. Received timely updates on shipment and expected delivery date. Would definitely purchase again.

by:

Hitch works great as I hoped it would work for this application. Shipping was timely

by:

Fits fine and was as described on the web site. Have note towed with it yet, but it should work fine.

Customer service was great. They changed my shipping method to get it to me faster with no additional cost to me.

by:

I needed an extender/reducer to work with my hitch mounted bike rack and this was perfect!

by:

Bought this mainly as a longer reducer. Hitch pin holes don’t line up do to the weld behind the front ring. Had to grind the weld down and re- paint it. I should have sent it back, but I needed it right away and had to make it work.

by:

worked exactly as i needed it to.

by:

This extender let’s me use my Yakima Stage Two bike rack with my F-350 2.5” hitch receiver. It basically provides a way to convert the 2.5” receiver to the 2” bike rack. No more bicycle rattling around in the bed of the truck.

by:

Great quality. Just not as tight as I was hoping for. An anti rattle device is suggested.

by:

Product is fine, but shipping method and time for arrival are beyond unreasonable.

by:

I can't even two the trailer it says 350lbs capacity! I will return it.

by:

Just wish it would fit tighter.

Thanks for the feedback Henry. For a more secure fit, you can and an anti rattle device like # BW65FR.

by:

etrailer always has good information on the products. Makes it easier to finds the right ones.

by:

Our bike rack required a longer than typical receiver to use with our truck. This was a perfect fit. It was not available at any local hitch stores.

by:

Extender and lock is what I expected. E-trailer is spot on. Always! I’ve purchased two hitches from them as well in the past. They are always quick and easy to work with.

by:

This Hitch reducer/extender is perfect for our needs. Great communication and fast delivery. Very pleased with this purchase.

  • Can 2-1/2 inch Hitch Ball Mount be Extended Out Further
Hey Keith, how much of an extension do you need? Another option might be a ball mount that is longer overall than what you have but to pick that out I would need to know the drop of your current ball mount as well as the length you have now and how much further out you need it to go and we can go from there.

  • Why Is There A Difference In TW Capacity Between The etrailer # e53YR And Brophy # HR26
Hey Walter, The quality of the steel plays a factor here but it also really just comes down to testing. At 351lbs # e53YR isn't going to just collapse but 350lbs might have just been the goal when it was designed so that's all it was tested to. The Brophy # hr26 has quite a bit more engineering and testing put into it, which is why it's also three times the price of the # e53YR.

  • Will the 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch Reducer and Extender Work w/a 1UP Bike Rack?
Yes, it will Rick and congrats on your new truck! Our Trailer Hitch Reducer and Extender item # e53YR will definitely work with your 1UP bike rack. Once it's installed on your Ram's 2-1/2" hitch the extender will work like a 2" receiver on any other vehicle so the tensioner you have to adjust will work the same way. Our Trailer Hitch Reducer and Extender item # e53YR has 7" of space between the hitch pin holes so you'll have plenty of clearance as well for your 1Up bike racks 2" shank....

  • Will the Set Screws Sit Flush on the 3" Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Reducer Sleeve?
Hey Ed, welcome back! The set screws will definitely be flush when you use the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Reducer Sleeve item # GY22YR. The sleeve is going to be held on securely with those screws to your Blue Ox Apollo item # BX7470. I attached a picture below so you can see how it'll look installed. The only extenders we have that fit a 3" receiver are the TorkLift Cannon Hitch Extension like item # TLE1636. However, they're designed specifically for the Ford factory 3" hitch. They're not rated...

Hey Juan, thanks for reaching out. Yes, we have just the thing. Take a look at the following: - Trailer Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # e53YR This is a 7" long extension. It fits a 2-1/2" hitch and reduces it down to a 2" on the other side. Each end has its own hitch pin hole. The extension is rated for 3,500 lbs. What will you be using the extension for?

  • Availability of 2-1/2" Hitch Extension to Open Tailgate Without Unhooking Trailer
Hi Jeff; there are no ball mounts that are long enough to allow for this with your measurements so the only choice is to use an extension. The problem with an extension is that all of them also reduce the receiver down to a 2". It will also reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50% but in most cases that isn't a problem for a hitch with a 2-1/2" receiver. The # e53YR will give you a 7" extension from your hitch pin hole. A ball mount like the # C45331 has 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch...

  • Can Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack be Used with 2-1/2 inch Hitch
Hey Mike, to use the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y75AR with a 2-1/2 inch hitch will require an adapter like the # e53YR. This is an extension and not a sleeve adapter for the hitch but this will allow you to use the hitch pin setup of the Yakima bike rack better.

The Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer III item # BX88312 is only designed to be used with a 2-1/2" hitch and shank of 2" hitch adapter. If you are looking for a anti-rattle hitch collar I have two options listed below: 2-1/2" Hitch - B&W Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2-1/2" Hitch Receivers item # BW65FR 2" Hitch - etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers item # e38FV I would be...

  • Will Yakima Bike Racks Fit A 2-1/2" Hitch With A Reducer Sleeve?
That will depend greatly on the adapter you have, Joe. If it's a sleeve that just slides in and the pin goes through the same hole in the sleeve as the accessory, the bike rack in this case, it will not fit. I couldn't find a better way to word this, but basically the same pin holds the reducer sleeve and the bike rack. I think that makes sense? Let me know if it doesn't. The pin that comes with the Yakima HangTight Vertical Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y59GR is too short...

Hi Dave, The 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch Reducer and Extender # e53YR has an overall length of 12" and measures 7" between the two pin holes. Also wanted to mention that you'll need either a pin and clip or hitch lock to secure this to your 2-1/2" hitch, and you can use either Pin & Clip # 337HP6256WC or Hitch Lock # e98881.

  • Do I Need A Mopar Wiring Kit For A 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

  • Is it Safe to Tow Using Reducer Sleeve on 2021 Ford F-250
Reducer sleeves like the # BWRHXA2182 are often used for accessories, but it is perfectly acceptable to use them for towing as well. As long as it is just a reducer, and not a reducer and extension, it will not impact your towing capacity. If you got a reducer and extender like the # e53YR it will also reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50%.

  • Is There Anything Holding Inno Tire Hold 1-Bike Rack In 2-1/2 to 2 Inch Sleeve
You aren't missing anything whatsoever. Due to the way the Inno Tire Hold Bike Rack for 1 Bike # INH110 mounts, the only thing holding the 2 inch sleeve in your 2-1/2 inch hitch is the safety pin of the Tire Hold. Basically if it were a standard 2 inch hitch, tightening the Tire Hold's handle, like you mentioned, would help secure it in the hitch along with the safety pin, but with a sleeve, that doesn't happen. There isn't a product that will improve that specific connection, and I would...

  • Can a Thule Bike Rack Be Used in a 2 1/2 inch Hitch?
The 2 1/2 inch hitches will actually use a 5/8 inch pin like a 2 inch hitch will. With that being said, I am not aware of any SUVs that come with a 2 1/2 inch receiver hitch. Just to make sure, when verifying the size of a hitch, you do so by measuring the inside of the hitch where a bike rack would be inserted. If you do indeed have a 2 1/2 inch receiver opening, the correct pin will depend on if your Thule rack has a threaded pin and if it has a 1 1/4 to 2 inch adapter. If you have the...

  • How to Use Thule Bike Rack with 3 inch Trailer Hitch
You'd have to go with a hitch extender like the part # e53YR. This would fit a 2-1/2 inch hitch opening so you'd need to use one of your current sleeves but since this extends a 2 inch hitch out the pin of the Thule Hitching Post Pro part # TH934XTR would fit through it. It would extend the rack out an additional 7 inches but that shouldn't be an issue and due to the pin setup like you mentioned there really isn't any other options that would work.

Currently we go from a 7" Extension/Reducer # e53YR that fits your 2-1/2" receiver to a 24" Extension/Reducer # RP45292. Both of these will reduce the receiver from a 2-1/2" receiver to a 2" receiver. You may consider a Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount # 325-GH-1124 as it will also help to cushion your ride. The hitch is 16-3/4" long from the rear receiver to the center of the ball mount.

  • Availability of 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Reducer With 11 Inch Extension
The closest thing we have to an all in one reducer and hitch extender is the # e53YR you looked at which is too short. To get an 11" extension you can use a reducer sleeve like the # e26YR and then add an extender on top of it. If this is just for a bike rack you could use the # HE6000 which is adjustable out to 11". If you plan on using this for towing, the closest size would be the # e28YR which is a 13-13/16" extension. Keep in mind, the use of any extender will reduce your hitch capacity...
