So you have a 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver, but you have some two inch accessories you'd like to use like a bike rack or even maybe just a ball mount. Well, etrailer's got you covered, we designed a sleeve that is gonna help us convert it over from 2 1/2 to two inches, so you can use your favorite accessories. To make sure this is gonna work with your vehicle and your accessory, here are some measurements. Overall, the length is 5 1/2 inches, but then, on the longer side, from the center of the hitch pin hole to the receiver side right here, is gonna be three inches, then on the other side, from the center to the end, which is the accessory side, is gonna be 2 1/2 inches. I have noticed that it's a little bit easier to get everything all lined up if we just line it up on our accessory and then put these both in together. You just put it in just like any other accessory, but with a little bit more gentleness just to make sure that those holes continue to line up.
So we don't wanna be sticking our fingers through there. One thing I did notice though, if you do have an anti-rattle bolt like this and it's for the two inch hit receiver, it's not really gonna stick out far enough for us to put a pin on there, so that is something to kinda think about, and if you have this kind of bolt, a 5/8 inch diameter pin is gonna be a little too thick, so you might wanna go ahead and grab an extra long bolt or pin on our website, it doesn't come with it, but that's something you might run into. There are two different ways where we can reduce our hitch size, there's gonna be the sleeve that we're looking at right now, but then there's also this one, this is gonna reduce it from 2 1/2 to two, but you notice how we have two holes right here, one's gonna be to secure to our hitch, the other's gonna be for our accessory. This extension will cut your capacity of your hitch in half, but when you're just using the sleeve, everything stays the same. Whether it's a ball mount or a bike rack like you see right here, this sleeve is gonna allow us to use those two inch accessories on our 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver.
And that's pretty much it for a look at the etrailer adapter sleeve..

Adapter sleeve lets you use 2" towing and hitch-mounted accessories with your 2-1/2" hitch receiver. Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock are sold separately.Turns out I did not need this item.
Fits perfectly and when I had some ordering issues which delayed processing etrailer made sure I still got my order when I needed it.
worked great for what i needed it nto do. i never give out a 5 star or a 10 just sayin
Exactly what I needed and arrived quick ly
Worked great
Exactly what I needed at a great price
Worked great.
Wanted this adapter so I could use my 1 1/4" bike rack on my 2" hitch. Sized is reduced by welded steel plates inside the reducer. Poor tolerances. Was more like 1 3/8" inside width, so my 1 1/4" bike rack mount flops over to one side or the other.
This adapter works much better than etrailer's 7" adapter since it basically consists of the 7" adapter with a 1 1/4" hitch throat welded to it. This allows bike racks to fit much more snug & also allows enough length to use etrailer's combo locking pin/anti hitch rattle device which, in addition to providing security for the adapter, essentially eliminates any play of the adapter in a 2" receiver. My bike rack doesn't sway or bounce in the least with the anti-rattle device.
Exactly as described. Fit down to my 2" hitch items. It was slightly difficult to get all sleeves and item aligned and insert the hitch pin but we made it.
Exactly what I needed for my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited so that I can use my 1 1/4" Thule bikerack on my 2" trailer hitch.
I needed a hitch adapter for a bikec rack but all the ones I found were way too long and stuck out too far. This was the only short one I could find. It works great and I drove 2,000 miles with it.
Upgraded to my truck which came with a 2 1/2” receiver. This device simplified the process that allowed me to use my 2” hitches. Simple and effective. Line up is a cinch.
I’ve owned this for about a year now and along with my weigh safe hitch This works really well because I have a 3 inch receiver and the weigh safe is 2.5”. I also have utilized both sleeves to use some of my 2 inch receiver accessories from my old vehicle. Great addition.
The reducer fits well and receives my existing riser well, while giving me the little bit of extension I needed to get beyond the tailgate mounted spare tire. Great product!
Well made, well thought out and very useful. I am appreciative of this product, would have pay much more for another hitch receiver.
What Was Good:
> Website, product finder, etc. made it easy to find what I needed and order it
> Installation instructions are great
> Tracking of the shipment was also good
> Post-sales support was very helpful in resolving an incomplete shipment issue
What Wasn't Good:
> Packaging was inadequate for the hitch receiver. It broke through the cardboard box, which caused the hitch adapter to be lost and the shipment to be delayed several days until someone at UPS patched the box with tape. The order arrived incomplete.
> Second shipment of the hitch adapter went well. But I’m disappointed to see the product does not include a “pin” needed to secure the adapter to the hitch receiver. I’ll have to visit Ace Hardware and improvise something.
This etrailer product was the least expensive 1.25" adapter I could find. The product works as advertised but the inside clearance is little large when my bike rack is installed compared to when I install the bike rack on my other vehicle which has a 1.25" receiver hitch. I plan to use a small piece of sheet metal to act a shim in order to take up some of the slack.
your parts were sloppy tolerences and did not fit together well. had to buy another hitch reducer from another company.
