2022 GMC Sierra 2500 Recommended Underbed Kit to Tow 5th Wheel Trailer

Updated 05/19/2025 | Published 02/16/2022

Question:

My 2022 gmc 2500 denali did not come with the fifth wheel puck system package from the factory. Is there a puck system out there I can add to my truck? My concern with bolt on aftermarket products is metal on metal rubbing from just being bolted on especially since I live in the salt belt.

The underbed hitch system I recommend for your 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 is the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1020-5W that can be paired with the Sliding # BWRVK3400-5W or Stationary # BWRVK3500-5W B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch since there isn't a standard aftermarket puck system for your truck. We do have the Demco kit # DR37FR which looks more similar to the OEM puck kit, but Demco designed this to only work with their 5th wheel hitches as a direct connection so you'll get a lot more use out of the B&W.

I definitely understand where you are coming from in reference to living in the salt belt. What I can say is that the B&W products are high quality and are extremely durable - plus if you got and installed the OEM system from GM you would still have that metal-to-metal contact.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out. If you don't already have a 7-Way in the bed of your truck then I also recommend installing one like the Curt # C56070 so it's easier to connect the wiring from your gooseneck trailer.

Hey Jon, is the ball placement the same for the B&W as the OEM puck system? Wanted to make sure it didn't push the ball forward.

@William They should be relatively in the same place, but I honestly don't know where the OEM gooseneck puck will be sitting. For the B&W, the gooseneck receiver will be 37-1/8" from the back of the bed for a short bed, and then 45-5/16" for a long bed.
